The new Shadrak Medusan model was actually stolen by GW from a 3D designer called Fummelfinger. They sent him a Cease and Desist and everything. Something that gets me about GW, is the value vs Gundam. A 1ft Gundam, fully articulated, 25+ sprues, and it costs $80 AUD. It's designed and manufactured in Japan, has 3+ types of plastic and comes in a huge box. Compare that to a GW knight, at $260 AUD. I’ve printed a 1000 points of guard for a friend for less then 100$ because they were interested in becoming apart of the hobby. I hate GW.
I quit GW in 3rd edition 40k. The final straw for me was White Dwarf. The prices of miniatures and White Dwarf went up every year. Then finally they dropped the free kit and that was it. I dropped GW.

The high prices are to keep sales down, whilst maintaining profit. High prices taper demand. And you may find that GW don’t care as much as you think about people printing their own minis, as long as demand continues to outstrip their ability to print minis. And as long as they keep releasing new minis at the rate they are, they will never be short on demand… Until the game eventually dies, which it will, if they keep writing s*** rules.
I also noticed the Centurion warsuits being not very heresy. As for recast, same policy as you: leave the little guys be, GW I don't care for. As well, the designers of these models have already been paid. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe the get a commission, like 1$ on every kit sold goes to them, I don't think so. As far as I'm concerned, these models are now products like a brick. Is one brick company suing another brick company for making the exact same brick? Of course not. I am paying for the product of a factory, not the product of one mans or a small teams labor that relies on those means to pay the bills, I'm paying for a factories. It's the same principle to me as buying 3d prints and Horus Heresy alternative models. What's the difference between Tortuga Bay marines and Bolter Jugend marines vs. GW mk.iii? Scale essentially, other than that, they're the same product. I've worked with recast and yes it's a little buggery sometimes, but it's cheaper and I prefer the hobby side rather than the MWG, so I don't mind spending 20 hours to make one Medusan Immortal look great. GW is not Warhammer 40000, they own the IP, but they aren't the hobby and they aren't the gatekeepers of the hobby they try to be
All of this is fine and all but it still uses 40k framework. Want to stick it to GW? Don't play their games. I fully agree with the vid by the way as I'm a staunch GW hater. But anybody printing models to play 40k is still making their games more popular and bringing in other players who will be buying from GW. I loved 40k but it was a decision I felt I had to make and move on to other systems.
Kudos to the hobbyist for the balls of adamantium. Yes, GW has always been fairly overpriced, especially with the "new and improved" plastic characters. That said, I'll be honest, this is the kind of argument spawned by blind fury. Justified, but blind. Personally, I don't want GW to perish, but I want the current leadership and their internal supporters gone. I hate not having agency, especially in things that are part of my truest self. There must be a way... and there might be a way, but it would be playing the long game... and I need to speak with level-headed people with the right know-how. Stay angry (cit.), but avoid becoming nothing more than mindless anger, as they depict us.
I've worked with GW(not for, never for). I more or less checked out when they went ahead and inflicted ninth on us. 8th, if they'd carried on like they had from previous editions of not totally changing the blood ruleset for pointless reasons and discontinuing models after they just brought out rules for darn near everything they ever made, would have been a great thing. Instead, we get the game being made worse with every edition.
@@Mr424242424242424242 More or less, that's what happened to me. I worked for GW until around the time 8th edition dropped. To be honest, I stopped playing (though I stayed in the hobby) and only restarted during the 10th edition. I understand the importance of attracting youngbloods to the game (heck, half of my job was focused on recruiting!), and they succeeded in doing so! However, it did come at a price, as the company seems to have lost its soul.
im certainly not here to defend GW, but how are you expecting them to 'spot' fully painted recasts? generally, the only way to tell the difference on recasts is the smell of the raw plastic (most recasts come from china, where they use cheap materials that reek). that, or mold lines. you'll see mold lines that are _very_ pronounced, or you'll see two moldlines. one from the original sprue and then another where the recast mold didnt line up exactly with the original. neither of those problems could be spotted on assembled/painted minis. hell, if you buy models from amazon or ebay, its entirely possible you've received recasts and not even realized it.
there are some recasters who take security very seriously they invite people to join or allow you to invite people but you are held responsible for them etc.
@@BreakfastwithBando I see. I was just shocked that someone out there was selling GW models for £3 while GW is charging £20 at least for a character, I knew GWs pricing was madness but this has put it in a whole new perspective for me.
@@BreakfastwithBandoyeah the recaster I'm aware of is about £8 for a Librarian model, there's certainly cheaper out there but I got all my official librarian models for that or cheaper anyway (Imperium, Leviathan, Mirfield minis). I've worked with recast and yes it's a little buggery sometimes, but it's cheaper and I prefer the hobby side rather than the MWG, so I don't mind spending 20 hours to make one Medusan Immortal look great.
GW is not Warhammer 40000, they own the IP, but they aren't the hobby and they aren't the gatekeepers of the hobby they try to be
imperial herald on IG broke the story in their story/posts the army is in white dwarf
That's brilliant 👏 and I hope he got his trophy for it too 😂😂😂
$55 dollars U.S. gets you 5 monopose necron flawed ones last time i checked.thats 11 dolars fo a model the size of my thumb.
how many of your thumbs can i get for $55? just asking
GW is the reason I don't play GW games.
Any good recast sites? The only few I've found don't end up being much cheaper than GW
I love this so much
All of this is fine and all but it still uses 40k framework.
Instead, we get the game being made worse with every edition.
yeah take the company private again, invest in infostructure and slow the release schedule.
How are you finding a recast for £3??????
there are some recasters who take security very seriously they invite people to join or allow you to invite people but you are held responsible for them etc.
@@BreakfastwithBando I see. I was just shocked that someone out there was selling GW models for £3 while GW is charging £20 at least for a character, I knew GWs pricing was madness but this has put it in a whole new perspective for me.
@@BreakfastwithBando Need to figure those recasters out. China is alright but sometimes quality control is a bit meh.
@@BreakfastwithBandoyeah the recaster I'm aware of is about £8 for a Librarian model, there's certainly cheaper out there but I got all my official librarian models for that or cheaper anyway (Imperium, Leviathan, Mirfield minis).
The only thing with those cheaper recasters is you have to know the right people or places to look and obviously that information is not publicly available. I only know of the one recaster I've used because a friend messaged me it.
Does anyone know which issue this was?
Where website is this posted on? 😂😂
