98% is of people who are extremely biased (especially messi fans) Ronaldo fans too
If you watched their games Messi was the far better technically gifted football player
Yea people take few moments of them out and use it to describe their whole game. Watching a full 90 minutes of them consistently in my time, messi is far more game changing than Ronaldo. He is the one on the pitch dictating the game. Loose sight of him for a second and the balls already in the goal. Ronaldo is also extremely dangerous, but no where as close as Messi. The Ronaldo the hard worker vs Messi the talent has got to be the most reductionist narrative in football. People forget just how much of a talent Ronaldo is. There's no young talent on the face of the earth that even touches his level at his age.
Amen! Just because you see more of Ronaldo doing the work doesn't mean Messi isn't putting in the same amount of work. How would he have become a freekick specialist without putting in the hours? This is just a simple example. It's ridiculous of people to think Ronaldo is putting more hours in and Messi is doing nothing. No one can be at this level without a crazy work ethic.
@@Marco-jc4zxwhile I do agree that messi definitely trains and works hard but to say that he works as hard as ronaldo is just obscene. Trophies? The same as the previous point, Messi has won in his greatest successes: World Cup, Copa America, LaLiga, Champions League, Club World Cup, Uefa Super Cup.
Ronaldo: Euro Cup, Champions League, Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, LaLiga but also the Premier League (The Most Competitive of All Leagues) and Serie A (The Most Defensive Ligue) not to mention that Ronaldo won all his titles being the best Unlike Messi, he won a champions league, being irrelevant (2006), two leagues in Spain and one in France the same, as well 2 super cups, but that is something irrelevant.

@@FabrizioTapia-kt5mrListen now. Lets all agree. The biggest argument Ronaldo fans have is "but ronaldo is a better goalscorer" like bro,Messi litterally scores more goals per game. And that's not even talking about all the assists and chances he provides. Like Ronaldo fans are straight up delusional and most of Ronaldo fans i know dont even watch football. Even Ronaldo fans deep down know Messi is better but don't show it,because they cant stand it,they just cant. Messi is the GOAT,and Ronaldo is the only player in the last decade that has even came close to him. So now people are trying to make controversy saying Ronaldo is better but in reality.Messi is the GOAT,and Ronaldo is second, then everyone else. And Ronaldo fans like to say "oh well but he has great mentality" like are you guys that delusional? He HAD great mentality now he likes breaking kids phones, leaving the stadium early when his team is losing and disrespecting an entire club. No player is more important than an entire club,no matter how great the player is. Club comes first, then coach, then the players. And keep in mind i said PLAYERS,not Ronaldo specifically. Because all players are equal,no player should be allowed something the others arent allowed to do. For example: Not coming to training. And a lot of people are attacking Erik Ten Hag when in reality Manchester United has been better since Ten Hag,and thats a fact. You wanna know why? Because he treats all players equally. And someone selfish like Ronaldo is angry that he doesnt get privilege now.. -Does not renew De Gea, a pillar of the team, the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in the premier 22-23
-Spend 55 million on Onana (he received 2 goals per game)

Looking back at the career of Messi and everything he has shown and done on the pitch, what he has produced in output and won on top of all that, there is no shame in Ronaldo coming 2nd to such an alien.
Cr7 however has shown and set a blueprint to all aspiring footballers that may not be gifted as much in ability as their peers that among magicians in the game you can still through sheer hard work, dedication and winning mentality, take yourself into the conversation amongst the greatest. He will always be admired as the best role model and a personal goat for those reasons for many people…
Of course Ronaldo also had the talent and Messi had the mentality, but what clearly stood out and is most known about the two is Messi’s outstanding ability which is down to his natural football genius and Ronaldo’s clutch performances be it finals or other big games… which is down to his outstanding mentality, drive and determination of winning whilst having an extreme bitter hate to lose…

8:45 This couldn't be further from the truth. Ronaldo fans can't seriously look at both squads from this recent world cup and say to themselves "Argentinas team is better". Portugal quite literally had one of the few super teams in this WC. Nobody was talking about 80% of Argentinas players before the world cup. The thing that separated the 2 teams was Argentinas chemistry, their passion and unity. It's easy for Portugal/CR7 fans to make those claims In hind sight because Argentina was so dominant. But in reality, They had no business going as far as they did. a major factor in their performance was Messi, they fought for him, they didn't have egos, they were well aware that if they wanted to go far, they'd have to ride or die for that man.
A deep analysis will show you that Argentina had a better team than Portugal. They had: majority exceptional players, chemistry, and few if no “average” players (a fundamentally overlooked detail that separates a good team vs a champion team), as well as history / always being a contender for winning the WC no matter what, due to their historical talent. While Portugal had: some exceptional players, but not much chemistry and quite a bit of average under leveled players, also no true history which indicates that they are still in evolving into a soccer giant, level of overall quality is growing but still not there. There’s a reason why Argentina have won the WC without Messi and will probably win it in the future without Messi. And Portugal had not won a title without CR. I understand WC is the best achievement, but not every team has the same starting advantage. Now this isn’t an excuse for Portugal rather an analysis, that some teams simply have better possibilities. Therefore claiming Messi as the goat for winning is a skewed viewpoint and doesn’t change the goat debate.
What? A lot of people thought Argentina would win it
@@L7ChristianB I mean, not really? Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo, Nuno Mendes, Bruno Fernandes, Joao Palhinha, Rafael Leao all walk in to to an Argentina team.
Argentina’s World Cup winning penalty taker is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.
@@jonathanb1406 you just proved several of my points.
@@L7ChristianB No, I didn't? You're arguing that Argentina had "majority" exceptional players and they just don't at all. If you were to put together a combined starting 11 the majority would be Portuguese. There's nothing of substance to your claim that "the overall quality is not there" in regards to Portugal, they have a litany of absolutely exceptional players, and have fantastic young players coming through all the time.
In what world are _Nahuel Molina, Gonzalo Montiel, Nicolas Otamendi, Marcos Acuna, Guido Rodriguez, Leandro Paredes, Nicolas Tagliafico, Alejandro Gomez, German Pezzella, Thiago Almada_ "exceptional" or superior to _Joao Cancelo, Ruben Dias, Pepe, Nuno Mendes, Ruben Neves, Joao Palhinha, Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Rafael Leao, Raphael Guerreiro._
They answer is they aren't. On paper Portugal have a much stronger lineup than Argentina. History is irrelevant, you don't play better in 2022 because of what players did nearly 40 years ago. Portugal literally had a generation of players pre-Ronaldo that were labeled "the golden generation" that featured players like Luis Figo and Rui Costa. It's not like they had nobody, then Ronaldo came along and suddenly they had good players. They are a consistent underperformer at World Cups based on the players they've had at their disposal but frequently been semi-finalists, runners-up etc. at Euros. And since 1990 until very recently Argentina have frequently been an absolute shambles too.
