Great video! I am a groundskeeper and we have an 01 Kubota M6800 and in 2018 bought a 5075e cab tractor. I’m hoping they’ve gotten bugs worked out, and it’s a good tractor for you. The JD is fine, but we’ve had several transmission sensor issues leaving us in Neutral no matter what, and can’t go anywhere until the sensor is replaced. Its got a little over 800hrs on it now, and the first time it happened was with 20 hours and probably has happened 5-6 times. The transmission is okay on it to me, not as smooth as the kubota we tried but dad preferred JD since that’s what he had when he was dairy farming (we work together). Other than that the JDQA isn’t something I’m a fan of, I like standard hook up attachments without having to pay extra for the green. All that to say, JD makes a decent product if you like it and their prices are worth it for you. However, once my dad retires I’m trading that JD in for a Kubota M series to do turf work and keep the 01 for loader work. Everyone has their own preferences, and we have 3 Kubota dealers within 30 miles to 1 John Deere. I’d rather have all our equipment come from one place as well for simplicity, and we own 2 diesel Kubota RTV’s.
Yeah the electronics on the transmission scares me some. As for the loader I’m glad I got mine with the skid steer style coupler instead of the JD style. I know the Kubota was dependable and I sure hope this Deere is as well. Thanks for watching
@ as long as you’ve got good dealer service you should be alright, which it seems you do. The other thing I don’t care for surprisingly is a cab. We get on and off a lot, and though the cab is nice in the winter it’s not worth the extra 10k unless you’re a farmer doing hay and in the cab for hours at a time. JD is a sharp looking tractor though!
@ that was my thought on the cab. It would be good for hay and snow plowing but much of the rest of the time I wouldn’t like it. Plus I’d feel bad being in a cab working hay and dad not being. Thanks
Hello, from alabama, my friend. We're getting a little snow. I have a sixty eight hundred utility special kubota. Fifty three hundred john deere. Two thirty massey ferguson. All are great tractors. I greatly like all three.Thank you so much for the videos
I own the kubota m6060 and absolutely love the dual function loader control. It's nearly as smooth as my skidsteer. Not having the dual function would be a deal breaker for me on how I use the tractor. Thanks for the great comparison.
Thank you for this review. I've been torn on the two Kubota M series or Deere 5E. I've been leaning toward the 5E, mainly due stealership being 15 mins away. Your videos and review of this 5E series tractor have convinced me to bring a 5E to my place this fall.
I'm glad to hear your well thought out opinion. I don't expect I'll be buying any more new tractors but I'll admit, though I've been turned off to our deere dealer for quite a few years now, your discussion at least has me a little more open minded about the tractor.
Wow what a detailed owner review ! the 3 cylinder JD comes over as a great loader /plough tractor being a bit heavier and more stable with better draft control , guess though I would go with a quieter 4 cylinder tractor (kubota) as my ears ring with old age even wearing ear muffs on the fergy 135 after an hour or two mowing , but not so with the Fiat 4 cylinder 640DT . would be good to know why the tilt loader rams are not fast enough , maybe the pipes going to them are too small or the ram cylinders are too large, do you need that much tilt strength ? Maybe drill a linkage hole 50mm closer to the pivot point on the loader, to hook the ram into so to tilt faster ?
I think it dumps slow because the size of the cylinders are much bigger than the ones on the Kubota with about the same hydraulic flow. For a 3 cylinder this tractor is pretty quiet after it warms up. Kinda rattles at first until the timing advance turns off. Thanks for watching!
Great video I have been looking forward to the comparison. Glad you are happy with your new Deere I am happy you switched to Deere but also enjoyed watching your kubota
Sounds like your companion is very fair to both machines. There are lots of small Kubota machines in my area o believe because of pricing and Kubota dealerships is very open to the hobby and small farm people. I had a JD service manager one time tell me I needed to talk to the small tractor service manager to arrange work for for my 4230. It’s a hundred hp tractor. So after delivering my tractor for repair work this manager came and talk to me and I told him that in my world hundred hp tractor wasn’t small. And he said today’s standard are much different then the 70’s and I did have to agree with him. I was satisfied with the repairs made to my tractor. Good information video.
That thing does look pretty good with a little dirt on it. This summer will be the test for you. See how it runs and handles that bailer. Great review!
Loved the comparisons, great job! I agree with you on all that you talked about with the electronic actuation, rather have hydraulics. I haven't ever ran a Kubota, but I have ran a John Deere 5100E a little, most of the electronics work fine, but some can give you issues. I think most of those are from lesser quality items. Thanks for the information, have a good evening!
Ben, excellent comparison. I value your opinion very highly. You are a straightforward honest person and I respect that. I looked at John Deere and Kubota when I was looking for a new tractor. It was between those two brands. I went with a Kubota Mx5400 gear drive over the John Deere strictly because I got the best price on the Kubota. Very enjoyable video Ben. Thanks
I have watched enough of your videos to see that you consider yourself a frigging genius and are satisfied that you are and if you came off just a little bit different and I could get in to it a little more and all your videos anymore are trying to convince everyone that you are you are not only the only person that knows anything about a tractor but are also a saint
I’ve used a Farmall 340 with tricycle front end to bale hay with but that machine kills my back. Bought a new M6060. Way more comfortable. Almost bought a cab tractor but didn’t think I would like one. I like to keep my ears on that baler. Tractor only has 300 hrs on it. I been looking at John Deere just watching for deals. I still like older machines as they’re easier to keep going and don’t have all the bells and whistles. Love my New Holland 5030 but I never remove the disc mower. All she does is mow. I have Kubota and John Deere support so that’s not an issue. I do like your 3-ranges. That would be nice
Not hearing the sound of your engine and equipment such as balers is one drawback of a cab tractor. I like to hear things if they are not clicking right.
Nice video! I have a kubota m7060 and it’s a great chore tractor and does everything I need it to do. I have run a few 5e series tractors and I didn’t like them for what I used them for but they were not bad tractors. I grew up on John Deere and I agree that either one will serve you well.
Very good comparison there Ben! As you know I recently bought a m6060, and I’ve somewhat noticed what you mentioned about the three point hitch, especially with the rear blade on it. But so far I really really love it. I can definitely tell it’s lighter than the Deere I own. I also have a 5200 Deere which is the predecessor to the 5045e and I got back on it the other day for the first time since I’ve owned the Kubota and honestly it felt a little weird haha. But I’ve got almost 3500hrs on the Deere and not had any major issues with it. If I could’ve got the Deere dealer here to work with me a little better that’s probably what I would’ve got but I’m really loving the Kubota so far
Ben, I definitely agree with the points you made on both tractors. I own both, I am interested in the actual procedure you done to override the 4wd when the brakes are applied on the John Deere. I honestly hate that feature as well. Think it causes unnecessary wear on the 4wd. Only other things I will point out is the John Deere has the hydraulic locking block for loader which is an awesome safety feature for service. The other feature I got was factory 3rd function on the John Deere loader, which I have found to be better than the WR Long 3rd function I have on the Kubota. Love the videos. God bless!
Yes I wish I had mentioned that lockout on the loader. In the brakes it’s easy. Remove those 4 bolts I mentioned and pull the plastic cowling off. Right at the top of the pedals there’s a box with two plungers. If they are pressed in the 4 wheel drive won’t activate. I just zip tied eace plunger in and then taped them in place also. There are two adjusters at the top of your pedal arms. Back those out so they no longer hit. Once you get that cover off you’ll understand better. Pretty simple setup. Thank you
The 5E is manufactured in Puhn, India, but, it is assembled in Augusta, GA. Tractor Time with Tim has a video from about 5 years ago when he visited the Augusta plant. The 1 through 4 series are designed and built in the US, and assembled at the same Augusta plant. All of this is talked about in Tim’s video. And the dealer support is extremely important. Kubota and Deere both have dealer support which is very important.
Wow what a comparison, my wife has always liked John Deere, and so have I but I still have my Kubota and I like it a lot, I am like you, you can’t go wrong with either John Deere or Kubota
Thanks ben for the early comparison. The haters are just not happy people. I buy what works best for me . I have a kubota now ,and I had john deere. I like the kubota dealer better than john deere. At one point, the kubota dealer had deere . The dealer is family owned, and deere didn't think they were big enough. So I chose family owned over a dealer that had lots of dealership. Keep up the great videos. Have a blessed weekend
@@Matthew-s6l8t thank you so much. My first pick was a Massey 4707 but I couldn’t get answers and wasn’t going to beg to buy. Right now Deere, Kubota and Massey are the 3 I would buy in this size. Now if I bought another sub compact I’d be more open minded. Thanks for watching and supporting
Really as far as performance there’s no real winner. Longevity and dependability is key though. Hard to beat a Kubota’s dependability. I did though see a 5055E recently with 17,000 hours. Thanks for watching
A good review. I've got a 5055E and was wondering how you were going to like the loader controls compared to the Kubota. Out of everything on my tractor, that is one thing I'm not happy with. It makes it somewhat difficult if you're trying to spread stone or do other fine loader work. I wish the loader joystick directly operated the control valve rather than doing so through cables.
Even the Kubota had cables. It’s just something related to how the handle pivots at the base that makes the difference. I saw a 5055E recently with I think around 14,000 hours. That was impressive. Thanks for watching
Both nice tractors Ben and I was kinda feeling the same when I sold my kubota kommander pro z421mower for a John deere z760r mower. I did a few upgrades and have been happy with it for the time I was able to put on it last year. I can't wait to get to mowing again and see how the upgrades really do. But I still like my kubota L3130 tractor. I was considering trading it for a 1025r with loader and backhoe. I used to get more tractor jobs when I had my small Mahindra max24. It was a great tractor, but not even a year after getting it, the dealership went out. Now, some years later, 2 different Mahindra dealerships open, but they are hour and half to 2 half hours away.
This was interesting, i guess doing real continues work on the hay will test that one out better. Im sure u already mentioned it but what are the horsepower of both tractors and which is more economical on diesel.
I have a 5075e with the 520m loader. It does duel function but you have to find just the right spot and it’s slow. That’s my only complaint. Mine is a 2022 and does not have auto 4x4 when you push the beaks (thanks goodness). That Would be irritating. Mine also has the bigger tires which I was not expecting but super happy about. 9.5” front is too small. Overall I love it. It has done everything I wanted and then some.
Good Video Ben, as i mentioned before the loader control is kinda one of the botas bragging points, they engineered it that way. As far as the weight i am sure the John Deere is heavier that is also what Bota is known for Lightweight Tractors as far as physical weight. and as far as the Questions I only have 1 for now, Windshield?
@@ronvarner9327 I wanted a Massey 4707 open station. But the dealer didn’t have a loader and couldn’t give me a time frame of getting one. I said well at least price it for me. He said I can’t now now but I’ll call you. I left my information. Never heard back, I called multiple times and couldn’t get him. He’s the owner, good guy but this concerned me with trying any more on one. Thank you
No I didn’t. I’m not sure what the Kubota warranty is now but John Deere is 5 years 2,000 hours on powertrain and I believe 2 years on everything. Thanks for watching
A lot of people complain about JD and the price of parts and labor. I kind of wonder if they have ever done business with JD. True some thing are more expensive, but my local dealer works with you on pricing. Had to actually send mine into the shop for repairs. Dealer gave me a quote, called several times to let me know how it was progressing, and best of all when it was done, it was a couple of hundred under the quote. Can’t complain when you have a good dealer.
Yup get it in the hay, pull some hills. Stack some hay. We borrowed a cabbed 50hp e model and the loader wasnt very smooth. Also didnt like the clutch neutral lockout. It is tough to get an old operator use to the feel of the reverser clutches... The ac condensor went bad on it, they said it was because of pressure washing, so be careful of the cooling stack, just use compressed air to blow chaff out.
I agree on clutch is definitely a different animal. But easy to push, got on the 5045 the other day and couldn’t believe how much more force it took to press. I sure hope it handles the baler good. Thanks!
But the M6060/7060 is the lowest level of a Kubota so it’s the only fair comparison. Plus it’s what I’ve owned and both are as close as you can get to the same price range. Thanks
I did! I have a video on that topic. I tried to buy one but never could pin them down to a price or a time frame on getting a loader for it. Kinda just ran me away, I wasn’t going to beg to buy something. Thanks for watching
@@khtractorsdefinitely understand that. I’m the same way I’m not gonna beg someone to buy their product. I grew up with Massey‘s and have a couple now, but I’m not totally brand loyal. When I bought the last one, I looked at several different brands. But I do like your unbiased opinion on things.
I’m like you, I’m waiting until you hook that baler up and start pulling those hills. I’m praying that it will work for you. You’re absolutely right about the loader differences - though you didn’t mention that the Kubota required higher RPMs to operate the loader, but the smoothness of the Kubota operation was spectacular. I wish you well. Give my best to Benny.
Well you’re wrong on the money part or at least from my experience. Hard to buy a Massey when the dealer won’t give you a definite price just an estimate and can’t tell you when he’d get a loader for it. I tried. Plus in my opinion I wasn’t crazy about having radial tires. They try folding under on this steep ground and walks you down the hill. Ran a 4707 some but I hate the radial tires. I did try though on a 4707 because I liked it overall. Not going to beg them to sell me something though. Thanks
I have hesitated to post this, but I finally decided to do so. I found your channel because you were using a Kubota as I have for over 25 years and just bought another new (at 77 my last) B2601 to give me a little smaller tractor for some of my jobs. You can use and buy any brand you want LOL, but I want nothing to do John Deere which is odd as I grew up in the 50s with numerous John Deere tractors as well as many others. Sorry to go, but although I enjoyed your content, just not interested in watching a JD working. Good luck to you brother. I have unsubscribed, sorry.
Well I hate that you’ll be leaving just on that account. I watch channels for the content creators and what they do more than the machines they use. But if you’re not interested you’re not interested. I grew up being diehard Massey Ferguson fan even though Dad has always had a John Deere. Right now I’d only buy a Kubota, John Deere, or Massey Ferguson. I wanted a Massey really bad but it didn’t workout. So either way I wasn’t going back with Kubota right now. Appreciate your time with the channel and your openness on this matter. Thanks
And you can whine and whimper about what is better between the John deere and the Kubota and you have the deere so accept it you have the best tractor now so let it go and I hope you don't ever need warranty work done to it with you documenting everything you do to it and them watching it
Ray I’m simply just trying to help other people make an informed decision when choosing between these to tractor brands. Wish I had a video like this to have watched myself before buying. I’m sorry you’re such an angry person at times. But thanks for watching and watching and watching!

I am glad the new Deere is working out. In my opinion Deere and some of the other brands like New Holland/Case IH i kind of feel have dropped the ball a little on their more entry level tractors. Back in the day for example my 2155 Deere had excellent hydraulics. Now Deere and other's dont seem to focus on utility tractos. They tend to focus on bigger tractors and mid-sized compacts tractors with better standard features. Our little 1025r sub-compact is even slow on dumping a bucket. I feel Kubota does a much better job in the utility size tractors. Only complaints i have with Kubota is i dont feel they have enough built in weight and i dont care for the front axle. Other than that they are great machines. I have a fwa 5055e also by the way. In short they need to quit offering all these different levels of quality/options and just focus on one good model line. If you want different transmission options than they can offer that. I know the m and r Deere is not made in that size but they do in other sizes. Check all your hoses to make sure the clamps are tight. I had to tighten my coolant clamps three times. I also had to tighten my hose to the turbo.I think they have gotten better with that than they use too. The early model India 5000 series tractors where good but a little crude. The news ones look to be not near as crude.
I agree Deere offers to many tractors of a similar size. That’s why Kubota M series is so good, they just build a well rounded machine for everyone. Thanks for your thoughts!
Oh and I would prefer the four cylinder in a Kubota over the 3 cylinder in the Deere. The 3 cylinder is a great engine. I have the same basic engine in my skid steer and 2155, but it's a noisy engine like the Ford 4000, and not near as smooth running. Our MF tractors had the 4-cylinders and they are quiet. They probably have a little more torque also I suspect but not a lot. It's basically preference. I'm not loyal to any brand. I will take a 3 cylinder or 4-cylinder in most cases. If I have my choice though I prefer the four cylinder but they are hard to find in that size tractor.
@khtractors I bet. I believe that you'll get use to it. I haven't operated a tractor in years. I'll have to get use to one again. You're welcome buddy. Love you're videos. They have helped me alot

I own the kubota m6060 and absolutely love the dual function loader control. It's nearly as smooth as my skidsteer. Not having the dual function would be a deal breaker for me on how I use the tractor. Thanks for the great comparison.
You can dual function but it’s not as good as the Kubota. Thanks for watching
I bought an M6060 because of seeing Ben and like it a lot!
Thank you for this review. I've been torn on the two Kubota M series or Deere 5E. I've been leaning toward the 5E, mainly due stealership being 15 mins away. Your videos and review of this 5E series tractor have convinced me to bring a 5E to my place this fall.
I hope this tractor proves out long term. You’ll not go wrong though with either machine. Thanks for watching
Good review. Gives a guy a lot to think about.
Yeah it’s not real cut and dry. You louse some and gain some either way. Thank you
I'm glad to hear your well thought out opinion. I don't expect I'll be buying any more new tractors but I'll admit, though I've been turned off to our deere dealer for quite a few years now, your discussion at least has me a little more open minded about the tractor.
That’s good! As of now I’d highly recommend either of these. Thank you
Ben, thanks for the comparison!
You bet! Thanks for watching
Great review. 👍🏼
Thank you!
Great video I have been looking forward to the comparison. Glad you are happy with your new Deere I am happy you switched to Deere but also enjoyed watching your kubota
Thanks so much!
Tractors are huge now. Growing up if you had a 45 hp tractor you had something around here. Thanks for watching
That thing does look pretty good with a little dirt on it. This summer will be the test for you. See how it runs and handles that bailer. Great review!
Yes definitely looking forward to that! Thanks
Really appreciate you!
Thanks
Like I’ve said no problem with a Kubota! Thanks for watching
I have watched enough of your videos to see that you consider yourself a frigging genius and are satisfied that you are and if you came off just a little bit different and I could get in to it a little more and all your videos anymore are trying to convince everyone that you are you are not only the only person that knows anything about a tractor but are also a saint
Wow! So you enjoyed it then?
Great answer from K&H Tractors. I am glad Ray thinks so highly of you.
Check the tag on your front axle, if it is a Carrero, it is limited slip which helps in slick conditions with 4wd.
I’ll check that! I wish everyone was as knowledgeable on these as you. You’ve been a big help. Thank you
@@Zebes_acres that what mine has! I’m sure glad you told me!
Each tractor has its ups and downs great video buddy 👍
Yes sir! Thank you
I’ve used a Farmall 340 with tricycle front end to bale hay with but that machine kills my back.
The 30 series New Hollands were the last of the good ones. Those tractors were great! Thanks for watching
Thank you!
Thank you for your input!
Good video Ben. Kinda what I was expecting.
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
I’ll have to go back and watch that. I think I remember seeing it but would like too again. Thanks for watching
Wow what a comparison, my wife has always liked John Deere, and so have I but I still have my Kubota and I like it a lot, I am like you, you can’t go wrong with either John Deere or Kubota
Yeah I’m not sure you can set a clear definite winner between these two. Thanks for watching
Love the videos! Keep them coming!
Really appreciate it! I scrapped the snow off your hill today so it won’t be so bad after tomorrow night. Take care!
Good insight. I am on my 2nd 5075. Good machine
God to hear! Thank you!
That's a fair assessment I've owned both currently have the kubota m7060 . Had a 5303 and was a good tractor.
Really appreciate your input! Thanks for watching
I would say that’s a good assessment of both tractors.
Good to hear! Thank you!
This was interesting, i guess doing real continues work on the hay will test that one out better. Im sure u already mentioned it but what are the horsepower of both tractors and which is more economical on diesel.
Both are within a few horsepower of each other. Deere 67 hp and Kubota 63.5. Thanks for watching
Yes the dump is very slow. I just moved snow this morning and when its very cold is stupid slow
Yeah it will do better after the hydraulics warm up but still slower than I’d like. Thanks!
Yeah I can dual function but it’s sure not as easy and smooth as the Kubota was. Thanks for watching!
Are you able to have that option to get the SSQA vs. the John Deere proprietary hitch at the dealer or is that something after the sale?
It’s an option but sometimes I’ve heard they don’t like to divulge that information. Thanks
That’s an factory option just have to let your dealer know when ordering
Good Video Ben, as i mentioned before the loader control is kinda one of the botas bragging points, they engineered it that way. As far as the weight i am sure the John Deere is heavier that is also what Bota is known for Lightweight Tractors as far as physical weight. and as far as the Questions I only have 1 for now, Windshield?
😂 I’ve got a makeshift version right now. I’ll probably perfect that before too long. Thanks buddy!
I love my John Deere
Great!
Thanks for hones opinion, God Bless
I really appreciate you watching!
Did you look at a new Massey ferguson as well. If so was there anything that turned you away from them?
@@ronvarner9327 I wanted a Massey 4707 open station. But the dealer didn’t have a loader and couldn’t give me a time frame of getting one. I said well at least price it for me. He said I can’t now now but I’ll call you. I left my information. Never heard back, I called multiple times and couldn’t get him. He’s the owner, good guy but this concerned me with trying any more on one. Thank you
@khtractors if he wouldn't answer the phone I could only imagine how bad the service would've been. I always had Masseys or them blue tractors.
You may have hit on it, but how does warranty compare between the 2 on new year models
That’s great! I’m glad you have had a good experience!
Thanks!
I hope you got your windshield put on your tractor before this weather hit
I eventually put it on temporarily
Great video God bless
Thank you
How is John Deere doing
Good! Thank you
@khtractors what are you doing tonight or not oh ok thanks
I think the comparison should be an "m" to an "m" serues as deere m series is whole different machine.Still enjoyed the video.
But the M6060/7060 is the lowest level of a Kubota so it’s the only fair comparison. Plus it’s what I’ve owned and both are as close as you can get to the same price range. Thanks
Did you consider a Massey 4707? I know you had Masseys before and know that you liked them.
Thanks so much Mark! Stay warm!
Just my opinion for your size tractor Massey Ferguson is the top dog in that class. Massey is built way heavier radial tires and way less money.
Thanks
I was disappointed when you sold off your MF 135
It’s still nearby. I saw it today actually. Thanks for watching
I liked your Kubota better
It was a good one! Thanks
Man U know u missed that kubota it was a way better machine than that Deere😂
And you can whine and whimper about what is better between the John deere and the Kubota and you have the deere so accept it you have the best tractor now so let it go and I hope you don't ever need warranty work done to it with you documenting everything you do to it and them watching it
Ray I’m simply just trying to help other people make an informed decision when choosing between these to tractor brands. Wish I had a video like this to have watched myself before buying. I’m sorry you’re such an angry person at times. But thanks for watching and watching and watching!
what kind of tractor to you have? Give us a video on why you bought it.
Should Canada be our next state in America? I say yes! It would build an awesome alliance ! And Amos Miller an Amish farmer in Pennsylvania won in court against the FDA and Governor Shitpiro! God bless the Amish
Well, we Canadians are better off without the USA. Bush and Trump have divided Americans. It's a sick society, white against black, poor against rich, a middle class hardly exists anymore. To make America great, you need someone who is pragmatic, but not Trump.

@ yeah I agree on the smoothness. The Deere makes more rattles, but all my other stuff is 3 cylinder also.
If you ask me. You owned the Kubota so long that you're use to it. And you just have to get use to the John Deere. I would be the same way.
That’s a lot of what’s going on. But without a doubt Kubota loader controls and speed is better. Thanks for watching buddy!
@khtractors I bet. I believe that you'll get use to it. I haven't operated a tractor in years. I'll have to get use to one again. You're welcome buddy. Love you're videos. They have helped me alot
I wouldn’t worry about the haters. The people that hate can’t afford a john deere. We ALL want a john deere , but they are a good bit more expensive if you buy one that’s used. The Deere is a heavier built tractor as i have owned both. I think you will find the power is better on the john deere also and i own two kubotas. You are going to really be amazed on the power this summer.
I’m definitely looking forward to the hay. Hope it does well. Thank you
Jd hyds.are top of the line.
Just wish the control was easier to dual function with like the Kubota was. Thanks for watching
@khtractors One of our tractors is 5090el, 520 loader. Also bought a 5075e mfd.h240 loader.I thought the h240 was a better loader.I wish i would have kept it.E series units with deluxe hyds. Run the loader better imo.
Have u checked inside the stick boot to make sure its lubricated? They can get dry on the rollers.
@ I did lubricate that. It helped some.
Man U know u missed that kubota it was a way better machine than that Deere😂
It may be when it comes to dependability. But I’m liking the Deere more every time I use it. Thanks
