Guys my salesman contacted me this morning after seeing the video and said he had passed the information on to his service manager that day. Also he will show them the video and try to get the corporate service manager to add this as a pre deliver check list item for all their locations. I’m glad to hear this response!
New equipment blues… I used to work at a dealership and it was standard procedure to go around and tighten as many bolts as you could as soon as new equipment came in. Manufacturer didn’t pay us to do it, but the customers sure did appreciate it.
Well that’s why I suggested they start checking these. Might save others from having problems. It definitely affected the running, does much better now. Thanks for watching
It’s truly sad that the manufacturers don’t put more effort in making sure that everything is tightened up. I did the same thing with my new Kubota. I found a lot of things that needed tightening. It’s all brands. I’m glad you pointed out how important it is to go over your tractor and check out everything. Thanks Ben
Yeah just because it’s new doesn’t mean it’s right. A out every new school bus our county gets now has to be sent back or the mechanics have to make repairs within the first couple months of use. I think it’s a lack of people caring on the job. Thank you
Good Video Ben, Glad you figured out the Brake fix, and glad you found the loose clamps, hard to tell how much dust they would have sucked into the engine had you not .And as far as telling the dealer about the clamps and them acting non concerned, your right, they are not concerned, it's your tractor now, they've moved on and trying to sell another one to somebody. Customer service and satisfaction has gone out the window, and not just with tractors!
Yeah I was just wanting the response of we will definitely start checking over those clamps. Or something like that. My concern was the next person. With how the tractor was running that last day it would have led to bigger issues. Thank you
As much money as a guy has to pay for the equipment now a days you'd think they would tighten those clamps, but I guess we're all human and make mistakes! I agree with you, I would disable those plungers on the brakes that activate the 4 wheel drive. No doubt checking them out, even if it's not a new tractor for the problem like you had, is the best. Have a blessed day!
Yeah I just hope the dealership will give those clamps a check from here on for other people. Tractor sure runs better now. But when you don’t know the nature of a new machine sometimes it’s hard to know you have a problem. Thanks for watching
They said that wasn’t part of the pre delivery inspections. I wanted them to know because it would be good to add to that list of things to check and save others an issue. Thank you
Let's be fair people. A problem like this isn't likely to present itself in a pre-delivery inspection. He already said it has 30 hours on it. Besides, the dealer doesn't have the resources to check every nut, bolt, and fitting on every machine. They'd go broke in a month. This is the entire reason machines come with warranty. Call the dealer and they will fix it for you.
Ben, probably showing having to tighten up lose clamp and line on a new tractor is far more helpful than you imagined. Most people think it new no problems, wrong and more wrong especially with quality control not being what it needs to be from manufacturers. This not only applies to tractors but many other types of equipment and vehicles. Thank you for sharing.
I share your frustration with loose fasteners. One thing that impressed me mightily when I bought my new Sany excavator was that every single fastener had been checked and marked with a paint pen, even the screws holding the arm rests and door handles. I don't know if it is something that my dealer does or if it is done at every Sany dealership, but I was impressed for sure. I can see some fasteners loosening on your tractor after using it for awhile but the clamps on the air intake shouldn't have worked lose I wouldn't think.
Ben thanks for the video I was going to buy a four wheel drive now I ain't I got a 2022 2wd I'm going back to another 5045e I had it going three years no hick up at all same battery crank ever time thanks to you ill stick with the 2wd 5045e good dependent tractor thanks to people like you you saved me a lot of headaches God bless you Ben you a straight up guy
I had noticed that whistle sound in your videos but figured it was just a characteristic of the turbo on the tractor. Never imagined a new tractor would have hoses/clamps that loose. Good find for sure. Thanks for sharing.
That’s why I like my old ford tractors no emissions systems no electrical garbage on them like that but I like the new John Deere’s don’t get me wrong we got two of them a 2023 6120r and a 2023 5075e both 4x4’s with loaders. But if I had to choose between either of them and my old 5030 ford or 4630 ford I’d pick the fords hands down but the newer John Deere’s are very nice for sure Meade tractor in ky is where we purchased our John Deere’s as well. There’s two dealerships within an hour of my house. We had a couple issues with them that required fixing but nothing to bad yet
I looked at several 5030’s and 4630’s on marketplace, those were tractors I considered buying and keeping my Kubota. But anything in good condition is still high priced. Thanks for watching
Good catch Ben before that may have led to issues later on. I have the same 4wd engagement with brake pedal on my New Holland and hate it, I will probably do the same modification soon.
Great video young man!! That was good catch on the clamps for sure. We bought a new kioti ck3520se shuttle shift last July it had a crankshaft position sensor seeping oil then cel light came on lost power i called the Dealer where we bought it gentlemen sent mechanic out next day replaced sensor it been great so far just turned 100 hrs. But I've found a Dealer that will stand behind what they sell. If anything goes wrong with it for a year they will come pick it up fix it bring back no charge or send mechanic to fix it on site can't beat that. They put paint on the bolts on frame n lug nuts where i can see if anything has loosened up but not bad idea to just check everything you can on one. I Drove Big Truck 38 year's had 76 mack with 237 had a clamp blow one day like to have scared me to death man that thing was loud n truck smoked lost power took a while to figure out what it was. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun
Yes I blew one of those intercooler boots coming up Rockhouse one evening on the bus. Sounded like an explosion, all the kids popped up and looked over the seat backs real quick. It scared them to death. Thanks for watching
Front brakes are connected/engaged like that on my M7060 12 speed rops also. I haven’t really noticed it being an issue but I agree it’s the hard and sudden engagement that could be a problem.
Trouble this one engaged anytime the right brake was hit. I like using that right brake when mowing hay to help turn in 2 wheel drive so I had to find a solution. Much better now! Thanks for watching
Good morning Ben, puzzling to build that nice of a tractor and leave clamps that loose. I believe you should tell the dealer and find out who’s at the factory responsible.
I passed my findings along to the Dealer but they didn’t seem concerned. Just that checking over that wasn’t part of pre delivery inspection. I was hoping they might add this to the list though to help other people in the future. Thanks for watching
Ben, I have a 5075E and have noticed the MFWD come on when braking as well. I did find in the owners manual on page 50-12 a note that says " When the brakes are applied, MFWD engages automatically regardless of the position selected on the MFWD switch. The MFWD drive indicator light comes on." I hope this helps.
I agree, Ben. I put up with that 4wd feature for about 3 months before I did the same with my brake switch. Also, with your power-reverser problem, it's usually your seat switch. Back the seat spring off some and see if it persists. If that doesn't work, it may be a faulty switch (pretty common problem)
I think that warning I get sometimes is shifting the power reverser before putting the gear selector in gear. But the other fault I was getting could only be stopped by restarting the tractor, it would still move and everything. Since doing this repair I haven’t had that happen. Glad I’m not the only one dissatisfied with the brake switch. Thanks for watching
@@khtractors If desired, you could put a switch in series with the brake switches to disable them. You can then simply turn the switch on or off to allow that feature to operate.
Unfortunately a lot of people would not have paid attention to unusual noises and if they did would not have had the wherewithal to fix it or at least attempted to fix it, great advice, still wondering about your comparison video how that will pan out, God bless and stay safe
Good thing you found that before hay season. Unless John Deere has a "sand proof" turbo I can see those loose clamps being a real expensive issue when the turbo craters because sand got in it.
When I bought mine it was the same way. I had two coolant leaks and a cac leak so instead of sending it back to the dealer I just went over all the hoses and clamps and that took care of all my problems. One other thing that caused a problem on mine was there is a screen in the suction side fuel line in the tank that will stop up and cut the fuel off. My advise on that fuel tank screen is take it out and put a inline filter on it and you want never have to worry about it again
Yeah I’ve heard of that screen in the tank being an issue. My Farmtrac did that when it was just a few years old and it took me forever to figure out what was going on. Never had any problems again though with it clogging up. Thanks for the advice and for watching!
@khtractors yes it is a problem on them after time I was raking hay with mine one day and it just shut off. After I started checking it for running out of fuel I traced it back to the tank and removed the line and didn't get a drop of fuel out of it. And it was completely fuel of fuel I removed the fitting and found it was stopped up with plastic drill shavings from where they installed the fittings. I took mine out and installed a inline fuel filter and haven't had a problem with it since. Mine has got over 2400 hours on it know and has not give me any trouble
Ben, everything we buy nowadays has to be idiot proof. Common sense is non-existent, so manufacturers then start throwing every obstacle they can at us in the name of safety. As for all of the loose clamps or bolts, the dealer PDI should have caught that. I know the Kioti tractor I bought, the dealer thoroughly checked everything and used a paint pen on everything checked. Regardless of what brand of anything you buy, quality control isn't doing their job anymore. Anyway, good looking tractor Ben. Stay warm! Cold here in Henry County, VA too!
Dido on the boost clamps have a 5060 and had the exact same thing happen at about 10 hours I noticed it checked they were super loose as well and everything you described as far as engine note and sound was the exactly the same for me tightened them up world a difference! 100% agree on going over a new piece of equipment when you get it! I believe these are the same engines theyve been using since the 80s or early 90s in the 5 series except for the emissions on them so I believe these motors have been around for a good while but I could be wrong. As far as the 4x4 engagement on the brakes I can 100% see how that would aggravate you with the type of work you do alot with your tractors that most people would use skid steers for all the dirt work and shuffling logs in tight places and skidding logs I’m sure the split brakes for turning are a must for you. I personally appreciate the auto 4x4 though when bush hogging steep ground or when having a loaded baler behind me especially appreciate them for bush hogging steep wet ground though other then that I don’t ever notice them to much. I sure hope that tractor starts living up to your expectations! But being with that Kubota 9 years I’m sure it’s been hard to part.
Well I’m not glad you had the issue but I am glad you confirmed the engine symptoms. I was getting worried I had a bad injector or something at first. Crazy though how smooth it runs now without the leak. I wanted the dealership to know because I felt more people probably would experience this as well. I hope they will start checking over this but kinda doubt they will. Thanks for watching
@ I agree seems to be night and day as far as how smooth the engine runs mine has always been I guess you could say little noisy when the engine is cold but since finding those clamps loose and tightening them once it gets some heat in it it’s very smooth. Which I can see why diesels run off air fuel and compression I imagine with the boost leak it was causing injector rattle I’ve heard injector rattle in pickups and that’s the closest thing I can think of to describe the noise.
@ that cold rattle I believe is a timing advance to help it burn cleaner when cold. If you notice it smooths out instantly once reaching a certain temperature. The 5045 does that also.
@ I can see that and your 100% correct it becomes immediately smooth. All in all I really like mine I hope it proves to be a good one for us both but time will tell!
I tell you what, that’s how things get broke from the get go. Bolts loose all over, I wonder how many warranty claims could’ve been prevented with simply tightening some nuts before the dealer sells the tractor. I know with my Kioti I was lucky, our dealer checks things well and he even told me to check the torque on several areas (loader bolts, etc.). Glad you got it figured out, that would’ve disappointed you this summer making hay.
I had the same warning light coming on my 5075e with a cab and called the dealer and they had to come out and do a software update not sure what it needed but since they done that it hasn’t came back on.
I had a 2011 Cat 972H loader from brand new. The first 300 hours there were a few gremlins to work out of the loader. But after that, she settled in and I put just a few hours shy of 20,000 on it before the head gasket failed.
I noticed you said you wired your lights into your work light. Mine has 2 factory pigtails on the right side under the gear shifter kinda above the back axle i wired in a few light bars and work lights on my awning using the pig tails. I believe the connector is purple
In the last video of you driving her home from getting the logs it sounded a little off like it was clattering like it was lugging, pulling the hill on the road way. Not to mention you could really hear the turbo draggen the logs out of the gas well road.
Mine did the same thing. We have about ump-teen million dollars of Cat equipment at our mine and we have the same issues with it. I've been told that anytime you heat a piece of new equipment up and it cools off those types of things happen.
I contacted the dealership but they didn’t seem concerned. I was hoping they would add this to the pre delivery inspections to help other people avoid the issue. Thanks for watching
I went through the same crap on my John Deere tractor! For the money you spend on the green, you’d think it would be put together much better! Wondering if my next tractor will be a different color!
Great job, Ben! That Deere sounds a lot better now. I heard the his you mentioned at the beginning of the video, and no, that did not sound good at all. Great work, my friend! Keep it up! 14:29 ☺️
That is not right the clamps should have been tighter, Did the dealer forget an inspection before sale?? I’m surprised the John Deere doesn’t have a lever under the seat for 4wd like the 1-4 series compact tractors. Glad you got your new Deere fixed
The 4 wheel drive is an electric switch. Even if that switch is off you have additional brake switches that activates 4 wheel drive when stopping. That’s what I bypassed from happening. Dealer said those clamps weren’t part of their checks. I think they should add them in though. Thanks for watching
I agree but it was like this from the start, I thought the sound was the nature of the tractor in the beginning. Then it just got worse to where the tractor wasn’t running right under a load. If it had been a year from purchase it would be different. But a month into it is different. Thanks for watching
Good morning Ben! Good video! Before you mentioned that you had the loader “locked out”, I was looking for a safety brace, cylinder collar, or something but I couldn’t see anything. So my question is how was your loader locked out? I’m not doubting you but only trying to learn? Is there a lockout mechanism activated from the operator’s station or what?
I was wondering what you’d think of the breaks. I think that’s the most annoying feature ever! I’m not surprised at all about the loose bolts. Like I emailed you about I was tore between a 5060e Deere and a Kubota 6060 like you had. I ended up with the Kubota and so far I love it but one thing I can tell it ain’t quite as heavy as a Deere
I just don’t think anything will compare to the dependability of a Kubota M6060 or 7060. I sure hope this Deere does good long term. Thanks for watching
@ it’s good to hear that’s your opinion on that Kubota. So far what little I’ve done with it I really like the gearing of if. My other Deere is the 9x3 and while it’s been extremely reliable it always seams I’m not quite in the right gear
Hopefully that’s not one of those Friday at 4:30 tractors and also to all the people that feel like this should’ve been detected by the dealer pre-delivery that’s nothing that a dealer would be needing to touch.
Your right. But I was able to convince to start checking that on ones sold in the future which I was very pleased with. Updated video just posted. Thanks
I over see a contractor that mows 6 counties in West Tn. He uses only JD and replaces 4 of his 8 tractors every other year... For the last 6 year, he has had nutin but trouble out of them. Tn. Tractor almost keeps a service tech coming out all the time, from def, ac issues, hyd. Issues and computer issues.. I mean, right out of the box, they're having trouble... 115 hp JDs..
I’m glad this one at least doesn’t have def. I almost wish I had got a 9 speed instead of the power reverser. I think they are probably more dependable just for lack of electrical components. Thanks
Those switched seem like another problem in the future for more repairs what sucks is you pay for them to prep your tractor just like a car or motorcycle
That wasn’t part of the check list they go over. But I’m working to get that added to the pre delivery checks. Pretty sure they will start doing that now. Thanks
@@khtractors I was a industrial electrician and sorry but anytime you add electronics like computers or switches to anything that gets dirty or wet or is in a environment like a farm you are going to have trouble
Most workers just don’t care these days. I see that early on with my students. Teaching them to have pride in their work is difficult. Thanks for watching
Supposedly it should only work when both brakes are hit together. But this one went into 4 wheel every time you hit the right brake. It drove me crazy right away. Glad I found a cure. Thanks for watching
For your information the loader was locked out so it couldn’t fall by the safety valve in the lift hose. Even said that during the video. Everyone is so ridiculous about that stuff. I left the loader up last night in the shop for snow to melt off my blade it didn’t drop an inch after 10 hours. Just saying the chances of that falling with no one else around to hit anything is slim to none. It stays up all day when doing field work even with all the bouncing around doesn’t it? I just don’t get the big fear myself, but whatever.
@khtractors once again I'm so sorry I have been busy for a while please don't get mad at me change I haven't watched RUclips for a while oh ok os please don't mad at me
I worry about that with the power reverser, almost wish now I had gone with the 9 speed like our 5045E has. But fingers crossed it will be ok. Thanks for watching
They don't build things like they used to. The old tractors go forever and no electrics and safety and emissions crap on them. I have an old mf 35x and an international 784 and both never give trouble.
This don't look good at all on Deere in my eyes. Not at the dealership level, but at factory QC!! This ought not be anything a customer has to fix at 30 hrs!!
Those things are just frustrating to deal with. I think dealerships need to do a better job looking over tractors before letting them go. I know you can’t prevent everything but at least try. Thanks for watching

@ that’s great!
Great video buddy 👍
Thanks 👍
Ben, everything we buy nowadays has to be idiot proof. Common sense is non-existent, so manufacturers then start throwing every obstacle they can at us in the name of safety.
As for all of the loose clamps or bolts, the dealer PDI should have caught that. I know the Kioti tractor I bought, the dealer thoroughly checked everything and used a paint pen on everything checked. Regardless of what brand of anything you buy, quality control isn't doing their job anymore.
Anyway, good looking tractor Ben. Stay warm! Cold here in Henry County, VA too!
Thank you for the comment and for watching!
@@Pat2317 yeah I’m glad it was an easy fix but still like you said it could have and would have led to bigger issues later. Thanks for watching
I had the same warning light coming on my 5075e with a cab and called the dealer and they had to come out and do a software update not sure what it needed but since they done that it hasn’t came back on.
I’m not sure this has fixed my issue with the light but it hasn’t done that again yet. Thanks for watching
I had a 2011 Cat 972H loader from brand new. The first 300 hours there were a few gremlins to work out of the loader. But after that, she settled in and I put just a few hours shy of 20,000 on it before the head gasket failed.
I’m hoping this one does well now. Thanks.
I noticed you said you wired your lights into your work light. Mine has 2 factory pigtails on the right side under the gear shifter kinda above the back axle i wired in a few light bars and work lights on my awning using the pig tails. I believe the connector is purple
I might use that in the future then. Thank you!
In the last video of you driving her home from getting the logs it sounded a little off like it was clattering like it was lugging, pulling the hill on the road way. Not to mention you could really hear the turbo draggen the logs out of the gas well road.
Yeah that last day before doing this it was noticeably not running right. Doing much better now! Thanks for watching
Mine did the same thing. We have about ump-teen million dollars of Cat equipment at our mine and we have the same issues with it. I've been told that anytime you heat a piece of new equipment up and it cools off those types of things happen.
@@realrural7876 well that’s understandable if it happened after a hundred hours. But this was from day 1. Thanks for watching
Good afternoon Ben
Hope you had a great day. Our power has been out since 5:30 this morning. Finally came back on.
Wow I’d letting someone know about that Ben, that’s not right but I’m that it’s something big, God Bless
I contacted the dealership but they didn’t seem concerned. I was hoping they would add this to the pre delivery inspections to help other people avoid the issue. Thanks for watching
After a few heat cycle rubber gets soft, and clamps needs tightened.
That’s understandable but this was like that since day one, that’s why I first thought it was normal. Thanks for watching
😂 just bought this thang and already turning wrenches Ben
Yeah I know, just ain’t right! Thanks for watching
I went through the same crap on my John Deere tractor! For the money you spend on the green, you’d think it would be put together much better! Wondering if my next tractor will be a different color!
Some say it from the rubber going through heat cycles but no way it would get that loose. Thanks for watching
Make sure you check the bolts that hold the loader mounts to tractor
Yeah I did that the next day. Thank you
Great job, Ben! That Deere sounds a lot better now. I heard the his you mentioned at the beginning of the video, and no, that did not sound good at all. Great work, my friend! Keep it up! 14:29 ☺️
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching
heat cycles on anything new might cause a little loose condition on clamps for sure not so bad I dont think
I agree but it was like this from the start, I thought the sound was the nature of the tractor in the beginning. Then it just got worse to where the tractor wasn’t running right under a load. If it had been a year from purchase it would be different. But a month into it is different. Thanks for watching
Any leads on the updates or issues that deere puts out on new machinery?
I’m not sure what you’re asking. Thanks for watching
Bulletins or recalls on problems
Good morning Ben! Good video! Before you mentioned that you had the loader “locked out”, I was looking for a safety brace, cylinder collar, or something but I couldn’t see anything. So my question is how was your loader locked out? I’m not doubting you but only trying to learn? Is there a lockout mechanism activated from the operator’s station or what?
This has a valve on the lift hose that even if the lever gets hit it can’t fall. Thanks for watching
Great video today
Thanks!
Thats Meade in Abingdon for you!
@@willowplantation9693 they contacted me this morning concerning this. I’ll have an update tomorrow. Thanks for watching
Have u thought about putting a live 3rd function to run your grapple
No I think the rear remotes work just fine for my needs. Thanks for watching
That green paint is the only quality control they check on. John Deere Titan (tighten).
I went through and check a lot of other fasteners after this find. Thanks for watching
Man my 755 4x4 is a tank!
Dad’s 770 Deere has been great also. Hopefully this will be all the issues I have. Thanks
Your gonna have a few assembly line blues as long as its not major fix it and go on JS
Yes I would say you’re right. But After having that Kubota I just expect things to be right from the start I guess. Thanks for watching
Unrelated question. Did you make the diamond screen on the brush guard?
I did make it. Thanks for watching
She sounds better!
Thanks!
Quality has really dropped on stuff since covid . It is just a shame for what you pay for everything
Hope you have a blessed week
Most workers just don’t care these days. I see that early on with my students. Teaching them to have pride in their work is difficult. Thanks for watching
What is JDs reasoning behind engaging 4wd when braking??
@@leecrawford6393 it’s a safety feature to give 4 wheel braking. A lot of brands do that now. Thanks
I guess they don't want you to steer with the brakes?
Supposedly it should only work when both brakes are hit together. But this one went into 4 wheel every time you hit the right brake. It drove me crazy right away. Glad I found a cure. Thanks for watching
... and those production workers probably making good union wages .... geez
Thanks for watching
Worse than the intercooler leak is you walking under the lifted loader.
I hope that your dealer sees this.
Their dealer prep is all part of the purchase price.
You just paid for a service that you never got.
That wasn’t part of the pre delivery check list. But they contacted me today and said it will be added no at all their dealerships.
It comes to show you that the manufacturer needs to go over their stuff better.
Yes things need checked twice, notice I even went back and doubled checked everything I did. Thanks for watching
@khtractors right. A person needs to on everything they get. You're welcome
Green quality 😂😂
I guess so. Thanks!
Once again Cody is os sorry I haven't watch RUclips for a while so please don't get mad at me okay thanks❤
Thank you Cody!
@khtractors once again I'm so sorry I have been busy for a while please don't get mad at me change I haven't watched RUclips for a while oh ok os please don't mad at me
Hope you don't have any sensor problems later I know it's plaguing alot of farmers around making there tractor immobile.
I worry about that with the power reverser, almost wish now I had gone with the 9 speed like our 5045E has. But fingers crossed it will be ok. Thanks for watching
It would cost more if the bolts were tighten up.
Apparently so! Thanks for watching
@@khtractors ... Thumbs up ! You may like to go around the tractor and check all bolts . Maybe check the torque on them. Have great day.
@@goodboyringo9716 yeah I checked a lot of them the next day.
@@khtractors ... Hang in there , keep that positive attitude .
Same GREEN but different Quality....
It’s lacking some probably from what was built 15 years ago. Thanks for watching
They don't build things like they used to. The old tractors go forever and no electrics and safety and emissions crap on them. I have an old mf 35x and an international 784 and both never give trouble.
For what this stuff cost it would be nice to have things right when you get it. Hopefully I’ll be good now! Thanks for watching
Thats what you get when you buy the john deer name.
@@richardniswander6090 I guess so. Thanks for watching
This don't look good at all on Deere in my eyes. Not at the dealership level, but at factory QC!! This ought not be anything a customer has to fix at 30 hrs!!
I agree! It definitely lack of quality control, those clamps were way too loose. Thanks for watching
LOL..
Thanks!
on my Kubota L3301 every clamp from factory was loose leaking anti freeze and the hydraulic line on loader were loose.
Those things are just frustrating to deal with. I think dealerships need to do a better job looking over tractors before letting them go. I know you can’t prevent everything but at least try. Thanks for watching
just curious not a big deere fan and no knocking but did you have any of that with the kubota 6060
Had zero issues with the Kubota until 2,000 hours. I think I did have one hose get loose but that was at well over 1,000 hours. Thanks for watching
