I heard it was invented in the Korean community in LA California. You said that is not true. I’m curious. Either way, great recipe and thank you 🙏 It looks very delicious with the perilla leaves and the Ssamjang sauce but yeah, it was invented in California. Hence the name
Thank you so much! This was absolutely easy to prepare and turned out amazing! I was able to source the ingredients from the H-Mart that just opened down the street from where I live. I my first batch only included sugar, good soy sauce, and garlic, but, my next batch will include the Korean Pear and ginger, which I know will make it even better. Thank you again for sharing! One note, I am horrified to use Butane Grill inside, but, I used a KOTO indoor electric grill and cooked it on medium heat for 5 minutes on each side and it turned out well. Thanks Again!
Scott Johnson Thanks for your comment Scott~~Galbi tastes really good whichever you cook them ..but the best id grilled or outdoor barbecue. I am so happy you found your way of enjoying galbi..one of savory Korean dish :).Please check out more of my Korean food recipes and share ..Bon Appetite my friend~~~
I just bought 2lbs of Kalbi cut ribs from the local Korean store down the street. I also got the veggies and a 5lb bag of Korean rice. This is straight up Tailgating, NFL Football food. Carolina Panthers! You, Miss Jane, are a GODDESS! I worship at your table. Addendum: everyone wolfed down the food I made which I made 95% to your video. No store had the pears. I cheated though, I have 2 Japanese rice cookers (zojirushi), and I could hook them to a 120AC outlet in a 4Runner, very little wattage, but I used the Stone pot to bring it all together. You have to improvise when you tailgate.LOL
Wow~~ That must have been a real yummy party . Thanks a million for your compliment . A bowl of hot steamed rice and la galbi is one of my savory dinner too. Besides la galbi, if you want to taste a real Korean food, some kimchi as side dish will be even greater. Enjoy my recipe~ .and by the way Great improvisation :)
@@MONOTVjane Well of course I bought a pint of the owners kimchi. It is WAYYY too much work to do the rice in downtown Charlotte or anywhere in the stone pot before the game. And no, I'm not cooking the rice 24 hours before hand. Hell no. Fresh cooked rice is better than gold. It has to be cooked right then. I can't post photos on here, but the Korean man running this store (Gulf Gate, Sarasota, Florida) was extremely helpful. I swear, 12 grown adults gobbled my ribs, rice, veggies, down in minutes. Next time you go to a Tampa Bay, Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers (my peeps) game, there is going to be some Kalbi Ribs grilled up!! (All the websites use the word "kalbi" in English, so I apologize if I am using the wrong word.) Also, the owner of that store hooked me up on the best sauce ever!! It wasn't home made, it just says, "Korean BBQ Sauce For Sliced Beef Rib Eye, 17% Pear, and yes I know the ribs are Pork, doesn't matter, I also have Soybean Dipping paste for Korean BBQ, imported by Rhee Bros, Korean Farm, Inc. I cannot read hangul. The soybean paste and the sauce are totally insane delicious. I had bulgogi cooking, and la galbi cooking, at the same time, which might have been a bad idea since I was the only one cooking, but in my 49 years, I have never cooked where my friends ate it up in a blink of an eye. I THANK YOU!!! for teaching me how to even BEGIN how to cook this properly. People pay $1,000 to learn how to cook like this!! I have downloaded your video. That is going into my secret recipe box right now. You are a damn GODDESS. The rice I bought is Han Kuk Mi Sushi Rice Premium. I like sticky rice way more than Indian style loose rice, so it was perfect for us.
I really wish i was there to watch the game and gobble up kalbi with you guys. Thankyou for enjoying my recipe. Korean BBQ are all based in soy sauce so it will be helpful to have one or two in your kitchen . Soybean sauce, sesame oil, garlic and sugar will always do wonders for yummy bbq. :)

Thank you for the video and quick reply. It looks delicious and I'm going to have to try it sometime. If you don't mind, could you make some videos on how to make other types of kimchi? very great, also nice and simple to make😊

Hi Jane
Love the video on LA Galbi. Once marinated, how long does it last in the refrigerator? If you freeze it, how long does that last?
you did it perfectly
What is the name of that small cooking stove she is cooking on?
Its a portable gas stove. We call it brustar in Korea.
@@MONOTVjane Thank you for your answer. Are those stoves safe for use indoors?

Yes. They are actually made to use indoors. Many of Korean restaurants use brustars on the dining tables too. Hardly no accidents .No worries:)

Why didn't you blend the remainder of the items in? My (simple) mind says it would have made mixing it easier and more thorough.
