    Great to see the cabin all dried in. Now you no longer have to worry if it rains, and when it does you'll have indoor work! So it's another milestone to have the roof on.
    That log cleaner did a great job - and in only 10mins! I have made a note of it for when I build my cabin.
    Keep up the great work - you continue to inspire me!
    Best to you both. And the doggos too.

    The cabin looks so good with the roof on and I love the way you are being so thorough with cleaning and protecting the logs. I laughed at Lance's comments about Cinda not having her heart in the project - I knew he was kidding and that she must be in earshot - and there she was on the roof! Lovely couple and lovely house. Thanks again for sharing.

    I love watching y’all. I heard him say Arkansas. I’m from Mountain View Arkansas and I just cut all my logs a week ago to build my log cabin it will look a lot like y’all’s. Mine will be a 20x24. Can’t wait to get started and watching y’all I learn a lot I didn’t no. Thanks for putting the video’s on here. I’ll be watching all of them that you put out. Things moving along well with the cabin! I noticed the ends of your logs look to have dark stains on them. It dosn't look bad but if you wanted you could mix up a bleach and water and brush it on those log ends. I would recommend you try it on a leftover log first to make sure you get the results you like. When i built my log home i used bleach and water for the entire cabin. I was amazed on how it cleaned up any stains or dark spots on the logs. Im still so impressed on what great shape you two are in. Watching you two work is truly impressive. I know your physical condition would put most 20 & 30 year olds to shame. Its a great feeling once you have your cabin dried in. I remember how stressful it was worrying about bad weather. Im already looking forward to your next video! Take care!

      @natureartgirl  2 года назад

      Thanks Lee! We may work as hard as 30 year olds, but we sure feel it at the end of the day!🤣😂We did use the Outlast log cleaner on our logs to take off the surface mold and mildew, but our logs have blue stain all the way through the wood. It is common here. It doesn’t come off even with bleach. You will see some we milled in our next video. It’s kind of pretty though. A lot of stores sell it as denim pine😂😂

    Funny, I work for a billboard company here in MN and we sell used billboard vinyls all the time as tarps. They go fast in the fall when everyone is trying to cover up boats, rv's, etc. Our vinyl is 8 1/2 oz with interwoven fibers. They are very strong and will last quite a while depending on how long the vinyl was on the billboard. Tip - try and buy ones that look almost new.

    The cabin is looking great and ya'll are definitely an inspiration for sure. Just wondering, is it common to have the roofing metal and nothing between it, the strapping and the insulation. Was wondering about leaks...have never had a metal roof, and they look gorgeous and want one. Thanks and God bless!

    • @natureartgirl
      @natureartgirl  2 года назад +1

      We have roofing felt over the ceiling tongue and groove. But you can do a metal roof over plywood like a regular roof and roofing felt over the plywood also. Either way works. But metal roofs seem to do very good as far as leaks. Especially if you don’t have any valleys or weird joins. There really isn’t any place for them to leak. Just don’t do too flat of a pitch. Here we also get a cheaper insurance rate if you have a metal roof. Also the snow and leaves slide off of them a little easier.

      No, we have 30 lb roofing felt over the tongue and groove. Then the rafters and insulation. We wanted the insulation to be able to vent. The metal roof should give enough protection from outside moisture. We are not experts on this kind of roof though. We looked up a lot of information and there seems to be a lot of different ideas about how it should be done. Maybe because of different climates??? I really don’t know. So just do your research😊👍

    OTHER WISE will it not leak down into the insulation, then down through the inner roof !?! 🤔

    • @natureartgirl
      @natureartgirl  Год назад +1

      There are a lot of different ways to do a roof. This is quite common in our climate. The top layer of tar paper , if used, is mainly to protect the plywood from rain until the roof is on. The metal roof is the water protection, not the tar paper. You can use plywood instead of 1x4 decking if you want, but here it is not necessary. We live in a hot climate most of the year so ventilation of the insulation is more important to us.

    • @natureartgirl
      @natureartgirl  2 года назад

      Not sure what you mean? We have a layer of 30 lb roofing felt on top of the tongue and groove ceiling and insulation on top of that. Roof is vented top and bottom with very small airspace. Where is the condensation coming from?

    • @t.skalta3227
      @t.skalta3227 2 года назад

      @@natureartgirl the 30lb paper should be poly and the tar paper should be on the outside of your insulation. Warm air will get by your t&G ceiling and condensate between the paper and your ceiling. If it’s cold enough outside and hot enough inside it he warm air will eventually transfer thru the insulation and start condensation on the bottom side of your tin. From then inside you need to go air barrier (poly), then insulation, then vapour barrier (tar paper or a tyvec type building paper.

    • @natureartgirl
      @natureartgirl  2 года назад +1

      You have to allow for settling. The porch posts won’t shrink in height much at all. But the log walls will shrink about 5 to 6 inches over several years. So if you don’t have a way to lower the porch it will be super crooked and cause all kinds of problems. You can also use a screw type lowering system made for log homes, but we already had these and they should work great. It is not an option to leave that out though. Good question though😊

    I've never seen a better looking log cabin, obviously Cinda is in charge (-: Too bad that it will end up in a Rbean and bean business ... Villages are loosing their soul, anyway it's was is happing at my place, tourists, parties, noise, no friends.

      Well, I hope that is not the case. We are trying to appeal to an outdoor, nature crowd. Hopefully it will go ok. If not, we always have the option of shutting it down. 😊

      Not really sure what you are asking? You do not want the insulation to get wet. But if you put metal roofing on property it will not leak. 👍

      No, we are using it for an Airbnb and don’t want to take a chance on someone burning it down. We will have an electric fireplace and an outdoor fire pit. 😊

      We are not sure how is the best way on a cathedral ceiling. You do use it that way on walls. We used roofing felt under the roof trusses as a vapor barrier for the roof. Don’t know if that makes a difference. If anyone has experience in that area be sure and let us know. Too late for our project, but it might help someone else!😊👍

      There are holes under the soffit to let air in then it can travel up over the insulation in the ridges of the metal roof. At the top, the ridge cap has vents installed to let the heat out.
