    I was fortunate to grow up.on the US/Canadian border. I say that because the only radio available for us was out of Regina and Moosejaw Saskatchewan. I love these great bands out of Canada. Always my favorites. When I had to move south 550 miles away people didn't have any knowledge of this music. I was a lucky American who knew. I just wish I would have followed my dream of moving to Canada. Such an amazing and safe country

    I can't even count how many Trooper concerts I've been to. A favorite of me and all my girlfriends since 1976. My boyfriend (at the time) left a bar in downtown Vancouver, walked into an almost empty club at 1.30 am and Trooper was singing Two For The Show. I will never forget that, I had just bought the record.

    Loved these guys since the release of Hot Shots, an album that went quadruple platinum and broke all Canadian record sales by a Canadian band (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Shots_(album). Like the good rockin Canadians we are, our ghetto blasters echoed the radio plays of Boys in the Bright White Sports Car, Raise a Little Hell, and Oh Pretty Lady that filled the airwaves everywhere we went. What a blast! What a great time! All brought to us by this great band. Hugs THANK YOU to Trooper for being so awesome and so Canadian. You did this country proud!

    You can't forget these guys. They're imbedded into Canadian culture. When you think Canada in terms of music, Trooper is right up there with April Wine, Stompin' Tom, Bryan Adams, Anne Murray, Joni Mitchell, etc.
    There are just certain musicians/bands who have been a part of our lives for so long that when I hear their songs, I automatically think of home (Canada).
    Maybe it's this way for some of our neighbours down south?

      If ever there was a 3 dressed up as a 9...it was Trooper
      As a deejay you must have known they never would've amounted to anything had it not been for CRTC regulations which forced radio station to play 50% Canadian content

    • @ttt-gy9zp
      @ttt-gy9zp 7 лет назад +3

      Amanda Marshall Why would you call me "little boy"? I'm an old father and 6'2" 210 of solid muscle. Is it really necessary to demean someone for having an opinion differing from that of your own?
      I know you will not read what I have to tell you. Rude people like you often take pleasure wallowing in their own ignorance. So I understand you ignoring my brilliant mind doing its finest work.. You are intimidated by men like me and I know that more than you realise.
      Who really cares about if its 33 or 50%? That's splitting hairs, and not my point at all.
      Their fame was a direct result of the CRTC was my point, and in you arguing that fact I have to say you couldn't be more wrong.
      If it weren't for the CRTC, Canadian radio stations would've been playing 99% American and European music. Thus no one would've heard of Trooper. People are like sheep. They like and believe in whatever mainstream media forces down their throats. The CRTC had its regulations in place to get Canadians interested in lesser quality Canadian content. You are living proof they were successful.
      Talent doesn't often create stars. Music execs and governments create stars. You buy what they want you to buy. Blind ignorant sheep is all you are to them and to me.
      Trooper played nothing more than pop drivel. Simplistic chords, basic melodies combined with childish nonsensical lyrics.
      I understand as a Canadian you feel obligated to be a flag waver. Good for you. I see things not through the eyes of a blind patriot but rather through the eyes of realism and knowledge
      In advance let me say you're welcome for the education and enlightenment I have so generously given you!
      Now get your fat well pumped ass back in the kitchen where it belongs, and shut your uneducated cock gobbling mouth sweetheart lol

    Fantastic archival footage of a great party band. My first rock concert was Trooper on this tour, at the Regina Agridome. Didn't see them again until 2004 and loved how they didn't take themselves seriously (unlike the opening act, Honeymoon Suite). You never hear much about Trooper, but they were clearly the best of 70s CanCon acts.

    Trooper had so many great songs that are still classic rock radio staples to this day in Canada, it's a shame they never broke outside the country, but you can kinda see why when you watch vids of them live, the singer was pretty goofy looking, and the rest of them weren't exactly photogenic either. I know that shouldn't matter but in the MTV age when they were just starting to peak it did matter, and is why they suddenly stopped having hits by the mid 80's. They weren't suited well for the video age.

    • @simonbone
      @simonbone 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yep, their real window of opportunity was circa 1976-77, when there was something of a rock revival in the US spurred by the success of Boston, Foreigner, etc. Supposedly Randy Bachman offered them the opening slot on BTO's world tour and they turned it down due to making too much money in Canada. Big mistake. After that, the rising popularity of punk and new wave would have made things more challenging; it would already have been a problem breaking into the UK. MTV, which favoured the photogenic, was instantly influential when it came out in the US in 1981, because even if not that many people were able to watch it, everyone in the music industry did.

    So true , so true....a concert all by it's self, or added to an all star cast...truly awesome....how about the Stampeders and the Cowsills to round out a 5 day package, hosted by TDM (Terry David Mulligan ) and Stu Jeffries, and a couple of the original VJ's from MuchMusic
