I'm an England fan but I can remember when Scotland qualified for world cups while England stayed at home and the fans were them😊 I truly believe the Scots are on the way up. They have quality players in both Scottish and English Premier leagues and qualifying for Euro 2020 is just the start👍🏾

Seeing Caledonia and Thistle merge was an eye opener, I remember seeing Rangers play there in the cup, back in the mid 80's and I'm being nice saying their park needed improvements, coming from Ibrox it was good to see such a small club, outwith the rivalry the merger was great for the city. Wonder how they feel about it now the dust has settled? Surely a better club united albeit mid league in the championship.

Scottish football should make an effort to market itself here in Atlantic Canada. Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and PEI especially are overwhelmingly Scot/Irish with people who still have a close cultural bond with Scotland. We teach Scottish Gaelic in public schools now (alternative to French language), young parents still name their children Scottish names, the culture, the accents, the towns and villages named from places 'back home' and most people here who may not follow football regularly still know of the Old Firm or other clubs from towns their ancestors emigrated from. I dunno, maybe it isn't a massive "market" population-wise (2.5 million) but that's half the population of Scotland as is. Personally, I have a soft spot for Motherwell as our families emigrated from nearby there (Lesmahegow) and they were a solid SPL club back in the day before Hamilton became a regular.

Instead of looking at the US model, perhaps it might be more realistic to look at the Australian AFL model. The scale is a wee bit more similar to Scotland, and is highly successful in engaging fans as well as being financially sound.

As a scotsman iam sad how our sport hasn't produced enough workd class talent. Football is the national sport and I know our game started to decline over the 90s to present day. I really dont know how it would improve to a standard where we could compete against Europe's best or go to a world cup and do well. I understand our culture and lifestyles ain't always helped but it starts with attitude commitment as a kid playing sport also the right coaching. I hope one day we can sort our way of coaching kids in Scotland and get investment. Now present day with covid 19 and no fans at games etc dont know how the future of our sport will survive

You also got European Cup winner, Des Bremner from us (who was on the cover of my first ever Hibs programme!) and League Cup winner, Alex Cropley also. On the other hand, Hibs did get former Villa player, John Burridge, via loads of other clubs in between! Interestingly, when Villa won the 1977 English League Cup, they had Cropley in the side, who had been in the first ever Hibs Scottish League Cup winning team in 1972/73 and Burridge who would go on to be in the second Hibs team to win the League Cup, in 1991/92! The played in Hibs League Cup winning teams almost 2 decades apart, but were both in that 1977 Villa English League Cup winning side!

Scotland has the most passionate football fans in world football. Before the Maracana was built Hampden park held ALL world crowd records. Then When it comes to club fans travelling abroad we just missed 3rd spot which went to Milan who took 80,000 fans to the Nou Camp in 1989.2nd Is Celtic taking approximately 90,000 to seville in 2003.1st is Rangers who took 175,000 fans to Manchester.........If Celtic or Rangers get to a European final it should be held in the Nou camp .Even at that there would still be people without tickets outside the stadium....................Scottish fans 'Not Brazil' (who have 200 million to our 5 million) are the most loyal and passionate fans in the world. No doubts about it!!! They recon that the Scotland v England game in 1937 had between 180-200,000 fans there (lift overs and fans skipping in etc was easy in those days) Even Scotland taking 90,000 fans to London in 1977 is a World record too.............................Enough said!!!

RANGERS WERE JUST DOWN THE ROAD BUT AS MUCH AS I HATE THEM THEY DO HAVE THE WORLD RECORD'. Caps lock on im sorry...sorry....And Steue were from a communist country who didnt let anyone follow them!!! Remember this Glasgow has a population of 650 k which is unique.

Maybe if Rangers and Celtic stopped their generalised raping and pillaging of the Scottish game and started to realise that they are going no where and here’s where it is and it’s always been we might have the game that we all deserve.

I feel sorry to what happened to Scottish football. I believe the main obvious reason what the ex-managers said about not being able to produce new talents. This is due to poor strategy from Scottish FA, and life style.
I am not sure if we are going to see a rise for Scottish football any time or not.

I should suggest the four powerful Scottish premiership from entering in the EPL System Celtics, Rangers, Hearts, and Aberdeen in the Primer league (which should add's enough than 24 teams and the relegation should remains to 3) which Celtics, and Rangers had won the most in Scottish Premiership; at some time however the Scottish Premierships are not television boomers that don't watch that much Scottish Premiership Football from the subscribing horizontal point of view, and they would not be the only Scottish Clubs if nocking on in the EPL doors (Wigan Athletic, AFC Swansea City, Cardiff City, and Norwich City are renown Wales Football Clubs). Relegating Celtics and Rangers that won out of 25+ Scottish Premierships Championships entering in the ESL spotlight in that matter is flesh and blood, the demographics proliferating popular football stars would be at the financial calamities of madness of successes if EPL close the top 4 teams with standing of 11 teams on the top of the tables out of the Scottish National Spotlight.

The Scottish clubs should stay in Scotland. Instead of always trying to run away, we all need to be fixing the shite we have. Too many clubs and boardrooms are short sighted.
I am a Rangers man btw and want Rangers in Scotland but not in the current setup, change it to only 3 top divisions and make Premier and Championship 16 teams each. Make the league cup 2 legged in the knockout rounds. Our team's will learn how it is in Europe knockout rounds then.
There are many changes can be made to make Scotlands game loads better but no one is pushing it.

There are far to many clubs in Scottish football. Mergers should happen all over the country to form much bigger clubs, bigger clubs mean better money better players, if Hearts and hibs merged there would be a big 3 in the league and it would revolutionise the game

    • @jacksonbow2766
      @jacksonbow2766 2 года назад

Hearts and Hibs don't need to merge. The smaller clubs do. We already have a big 5 in Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs. The other clubs need to be looked at.
We need a few other changes first.
Only 3 top leagues for starts. 16-16-16. The top 6 finishes in prem win a Youth team place in the 3rd division. So that would be 10 clubs and 6 youth teams every season.
Similar to Spain, mandatory minimum fee release clauses in young players contracts, I say 21 and below.
Open up the bottom division with automatic promotion for the Highland and Lowland leagues.
The key though is a shorter season 16 teams means 30 games and everyone only has to play the Old firm away 2 times, not the 4 they currently have. Hearts this season have lost 8 games so far but 4 were against the Old firm, yet... They beat Celtic in the 1st game kf the season at home and drew in 1st game against Rangers. So if this was a 16 team 30 game league, it would mathematically most likely be a lot closer between 3 teams.
The Dundee Clubs need to share a stadium buts it for merges in them.
The smaller clubs in the same areas should merge up though.
