can you ask them to put a metal network in the frame
If your lucky and got those Torx screws. I was so pissed I got the blade hq one in m4 and it was riveted!
The lightweight Manix isn’t as customizable as the G10 version. The backspacer that holds the lock is a different size than the G10 version so the aftermarket scales that are available for the G10 will not work with the LW version. You can replace the spring, ball and ball cage but there aren’t any scales available yet for the LW.
But theoretically you can still buy the scales the screws and the back spacer of the original g10 model and you'd be good to go right?
@@projectblitz7290you could swap the blades between a LW and the G10 version. I don’t think there is anyone that sells the backspacer.
@@TwistedFootEDC which is odd, as I would think there is so much demand to be able to do liner delete upgrades, and thats literally the only piece that is holding them back from being done on the LT
Original Goat has entered the chat!!
@@IronsWHU Yes they have, also Applied Weapons Technology has also released some for the Manix 2 LW.
Just pre ordered a pm2 magnacut salt all black. Will be my first spyderco. That white and black is a nice combo
Pretty darn sweet. I have a Manix XL, and have been wanting to try the regular Manix LW for a while now. This might have just tripped the trigger for me. Rex-45, what’s not to like? I would keep the LW the way it is, as that’s the point (for me anyway).
In my opinion, the Manix 2 is the best edc folder for it’s price point…period!
Agreed.
My 4 Manix knives agree‼️👍
Im glad they finally put screws in instead of pins.
Yeah, I can imagine there’s some weight and cost savings with using the rivets/pins, but they totally ruined the look and value (imho). I hope this is going to be a trend across the whole LW line, if it isn’t already by now.
Just ordered this and I can’t wait! My first Manix in general 👌
For those who are wondering GP Knives is a xlnt retailer in my opinion. I discovered GP Knives through MC a long time ago. Thx.
I had to pull the trigger on this one but its a bit "too" lightweight for me, I really like the white on black though so I am thinking of just changing the scales out, are they hard to change for the lightweights? It looks like some are riveted but these appear to be t8.
That was awesome MC. Had not thought about the Manix 2 vs the AD20.5. A flat ground AD20.5 in 3V would ring my bell.
The Native 5 LW version hung out for sometime…….I was just really getting into collecting and knives in general, I ended up with 4 satin 4 dlc. Gifted 1 and using one ,now have a half dozen. Just got the Manix 2 Rex45 satin just because it was still in stock…great video bud, happy and healthy new year to you and yours ✌🏼
Very sweet and it's the new model with the screws nice
Can you do a disassembly video please? I am thinking about dying the scales on my new GP Knives Manix 2 LW. I don’t want to run into any unanticipated issues.
Both versions are still in stock. Apparently GP ordered lots of em, or so i heard.
Waiting on the Magnacut one
Looks good! That dlc blade would be nice in my burnt orange manix i think, dont now of my patina rex 45 blade looks good with the white handels do. Is it a little off white?
I love the manix 2. I have the frn and the g10 cpm s30v.
Crazy as hell we had like no new spyderco for awhile. All of sudden my must have knife list shoots from 0 to 5 or 6 and all are new spyderco's.
I managed to get a manix 2 110v from the last online seconds sale after pecking at my phone for 4 hours. Excellent blade.
Such a good looking knife! I’d love to try out a lightweight Manix (I’ve only had G10 variants), especially with at that blade steel. Seems like a winner.
I just bought one of these and it’s so light for such a big knife.
Yep I need this. Spyderco collection is going crazy lately
i agree the do but on one them it looks off or is it the lighting
I bought one. Super cool addition to the collection. This is my second Manix 2 but first in LW.
Nice, the Black and white look awesome!
Just picked one up ! Can't wait to get it.
Man that white FRN looks pretty dope, even if it's not my thing personally. I bet people who are into customizing their knives would have an absolute field day staining this. :D
Just ordered one. I cannot wait until it comes in. It’ll be my first manix 2 and it’ll be my first time trying Rex 45. The stormtrooper look also Is a great added bonus
What knife is the one in the bottom left coner the small one. In the intro.
MC you need to take a look at the Bodacious. Kinda like an alternative to the Shaman.
Those are so sweet. Thanks MC
Remember back in the day when you did the car reviews. I think you and your buddy were reviewing or just discussing and comparing the PM2 and the Manix 2 (at least I think it was the Manix 2, it's been a few moons).
Seeing as how GP knives is about 15 minutes away from me, I'll have to go check these out.
That's a slick looking knife ! Love the Storm Trooper vibe.
Like the look. Have regular manix, have never even had a manix 2.
Thank you for this vid MC. So want a manix 2. ❤️❤️
just ordered mine today the black blade
They are also releasing the Para 3 Military 2 Manix 2 and Manix 2 XL in Cru-Wear and brown micarta.
I love cruwear
Shit, I may buy 2 Crucarta Manix, because I want one in the original form, but need another non-LW one for some crazy scales I have. Really wish they'd drop a MagnaCut in G10. Then I could have an S30V, a Cruwear, and a Magnacut.
I need, I have two manic Lightweight and use them everyday for work and love them
Does this lightweight model have the screws so you can easily disassemble it and replace the scales or do they still have fasteners that can't be taken apart
Screws
Recently got into the knife world. In my mind Spyderco is the GOAT. This is absolutely sick, keep up the good work!
spyderco was my first! a pm2 that i love and ive beat the crap out of it. but some other high end knives from other makers, sold them and bought another spyderco lol
The sprint runs will really suck you in, lol. Ask me how I know…
You eventually get a bit annoyed with how they do it though, but who can stay away from awesome combinations that they don’t offer as a standard factory option? In the end, I’m glad they do it. I just wish they made more pieces per run.
@@jackjohnson291I went from a delica that outlasted every other knife I had previously owned a till I eventually lost it. I now own 4 para 2’s, a para 3,,a shaman, now a manix 2 and all exclusives minus one para 2 and my para 3 that’s modified. Now I need a Yojimbo and a Smock.
Super tempting, though I wish it was an XL.
a manix would be a swwweeeettttt first win I went the pm2 route for my first spyderco but I really considered the manix first
I'm hoping like hell that since mc plugged these that it means gpknives has a lot of these because there gonna fly.
The manix2 is my favourite owning a few the most exclusive in S110V
I used to have the Blurple Manix2. Ended up selling it and then regretted it.
I just ordered the plain satin blade version of this a few minutes ago when I seen them on the site for $130 and knew any time Rex45 comes out it’s always gone before I get a chance to try it. I finally have my first Rex45, and my first Manix of any variety, on the way and I’m excited to try it out. I’ve been wanting to try k390, but not a huge fan of the lockbacks and BBS has the pm2 and 3 k390’s in g10 but they’re $240+. I’ll try the k390 later, I do love the Stretch, so that’ll probably be what I try k390 on. At least BBS doesn’t charge that ridiculous shipping price anymore, but still a c-note savings is a biggin for me 😂
is there a direct coment tab? i returned my spyderco manix 2 xl, uneven grind, horrible action.
ended up with 2 of the satin bladed cause thats all they had left..personally i dont mind because i dislike coated blades. but the dlc blades sold out pretty quick.
The lightweight previously wasn't as customizable, but not sure about the screw together version.
Original goat scales
I just got one of these and the lock sticks when I flip to open but not as bad if I slowly release the button. Is this something that should wear in or can I lube something maybe or should I just exchange it?
Did you ever figure it out?
@@ajpend I returned it. The guy said he would inspect a few and make sure it wasn’t normal in the design and send me a good one. Then I ended up getting one that was too tight and off center. So I had to adjust it myself. The new one doesn’t have that sticking issue .
@@whatfreedom7 interesting. Thanks for the response.
Dont have a manix my self or a shamen but would love both models
Such a cool knife this would be a amazing edc for me
Man, I had no idea DLC coatings can have a rockwell hardness of 85. Its always nice to learn something new. DLC coatings maybe tough and resists scratches well, but it sure doesn't hold up well if you bump against it with a diamond stone. Lol. I accidentally bumped both scales on my Protech Runt 5 when I put my own edge on it. I barely bumped against the scales, and the stone took the DLC coating right off. Bummed me out, but hey, it's a user, so it'll eventually get some nicks and dings. Just wish the first nicks weren't from me sharpening it. Lmfao
Btw, does a DLC coating cause drag on a blade to where it feels like it effects its smoothness in cutting? If that makes sense. Lol. I ask only because my Runt 5 is razor sharp but yet it feels like it tears through paper and carboard rather than cleanly cutting through it. The Runt 5 is my only DLC coated knife I own, so I cant compare it to anything else I use.
AFAIK, there are not any aftermarket scales for the Manix 2 LW yet. Customers have been wanting some for a long time, but only now has Spyderco FINALLY started using regular screws for the LW, making it possible to disassemble.
Original goat have scales for the lw
The lightweight models are not as customizable as far as i know, because spyderco only just switched over to screws from a pin only construction. So it SHOULD be as customizable but there isnt an aftermarket yet
Im excited for the Spymyto
Would be awesome if I got one, I’ve only had one spyerco knife in my life and it was stolen from me. Been wanting to get another one, but they’re just a little too expensive for me.
Hurts to hear that. I got a holster made for my pm2 on Etsy and it makes it much easier to keep track of. Thieves are the worst
These look awesome
How does Rex45 performance compare to maxamet? I have a PM2 maxamet and really like it.
Also, I was considering the manix 2 just because everyone seems to love it (and it looks cool)
Rex45 is very similar to M4
Rex 45 is going to be wayyyy tougher but not hold it’s edge quite as long as the maxamet. The Rex 45 still holds its edge for a long time and is very similar to M4. Just depends on what you plan on cutting but for me the Rex would be my choice.
@@nickallen8333 👍 thanks
Rex 45 is what M4 wishes it could be IME
Oh snap thats my favorite color combo
I love that knife..! I hope I can get one.
I love my spy 27 manix 2 lw
I love Spyderco. I would love to see a Manix XL in a White G10 lol
Incredible! Love how spyderco went with what looks like t8 . Can you talk more about CMP REX 45. New to me.
It's a bit better than m4 blade steel. It's amazing steel. Non stainless tool steel that has more than enough edge retention and about just as much toughness. They make end mills and drill bits among other things with this steel, so it's a great blade steel. On knife steel nerds you can learn more specific details about the steel like comparisons to other steels and details of the steel make up. But overall it's very good and just as badass as any other tool steel for edc needs.
And with a DLC coating, you get about 90% of the corrosion resistance of your average stainless steel. Far better than cerakote can accomplish.
@@danielhenderson8316is the DLC coating really that effective?
@@onie2717 Just about. It's also a treatment used on high end firearms to protect carbon steel from corrosion and is very hard to wear off.
@@danielhenderson8316 So what steel would you say Rex45 with dlc coating is comparable to with that extra corrosion resistance
Just ordered mine! I needed Rex 45 in my life. Now I just need to figure out if the Original Goat scales Fit! She’s gon’ be a beaut!
Would manix 2 scales work for the lightweight? I know these have the right screws, but I'm unsure if the interior is any different or anything
I'm calling this one for the future giveaway. It's mine! Thanks as always Mc
Can't wait to get it. Just ordered it, and I'm definitely gonna use it to good use when I'm at work receiving using this beast knife of rex 45. Definitely going to enjoy cutting thick cardboards and thick plastic bags with this knife. Spyderco is definitely way better than benchmade when it comes to price. At least Spyderco has been doing a good job with their quality knives. Unlike benchmade, they've been lacking with their quality knives lately.
Yeah benchmade is seriously garbage for the price
@@onie2717 exactly 🤣
I've literally never wanted a Spyderco more than I want 1 of these!!
If they were regular ones and not lightweights, I’d be interested
Did they stop using rivets on their lightweight models scales and switch to screws? Id heard awhile back they were supposed to be doing it so that it wasnt necessary to drill out the fkn rivets to get them off and put other scales on then you had to find compatible screws to replace the rivets. Ive heard stories from people about how incredibly terrible and time consuming it is to do.
Yes
So disappointed they are not doing a proper Para 3 with magnacut. Just the lightweight version. With those ugly scales would love to put some titanium scales on it
These are sick!
Also they are doing salt Pm2s etc. in Magnacut
Yea para 3’s and manix LWs as well
They must of ordered a shit ton of these to give reviewers a few so they sell faster. There rex45 native 5 lw didn't sell super fast like other exclusives did. Probably because not everyone knows about gp knives like they do knife center and blade hq. But if your there on time you should get one. Also they always do white handles and dlc blade first, then they do white and satin blade after so if you want satin just wait, it will be coming up next.
Oh wow 😮
Beautiful.
I need that
I'm thinking about getting a knife in Rex 45 (Kizer Mystic or Spyderco), CPM M4 (Spiderco Endura) or S90V (maxace Black Mirror). Can anyone help me decide? I would likely make my own wooden scales for the Spiderco or Kizer. Thanks.
It’s personal, but with 100% certainty you will be happy with a spyderco!
I have a Delica 4 (Japan) and a Yojimbo 2 (USA made) both of which I absolutely love.
I just got the Mystic, and man the action is phenomenal if that is a major factor for ya. It's a great deal with big old rex45 blade for $160 ish w/discount code. Would also be straight forward costume scale job. If edge retention is paramount, then a spyderco probably has the better heat treatment. That's my two cents hope it helps. good luck on your purchase!!🙂
Thank you so much. I'm leaning towards the mystic right now.@@stephenjohnson3084
I'm now thinking about something in k390. Any thoughts on that steel?@@stephenjohnson3084
I'm still contemplating what my first Spyderco should be. They just all seem great it's hard to choose
PM2 all day 😎
Any if them that fits your liking
My first was a Manix 2 LW because it was 82 bucks at the time. Once I got the PM2 I definitely noticed that it was a step above the LW. The PM3 is also amazing but I missed the weight of the PM2 and ended up selling it to someone who wanted a little bit smaller knife. I use my Manix when I have a day of work ahead of me. I do want a standard Manix 2 because it is such a good knife. Hope that gives you a little info to ponder 👍
Native 5 is worth consideration
@@happyforestgump1 depends if you like lock backs or not… i like the blade but not the lock, lil native gets it done, Native Chief with compression would be fantastic
I don’t have a manix 2 either, hmmmm😁
The lightweights are not customizable as far as I have ever seen, the standard scales will not fit it.
I was kicking myself when the Storm Trooper marketing sold the white out before.. how do I win? Guess I’ll keep watching/stalking your channel 😂
"hehehe duel weilding" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cross country skiing...
Those are sweet 😍
I watched this video immediately after watching your Remette review. Neither of these Spyderco is drop shut action but you didn’t even mention, let alone call it a deal breaker - and they’re over twice the cost of the Remette, made in USA, and supposedly should have flawless action. What’s up?
Cool comment.
Card slap 8/10
8.9 on the slap
AWT scales change the lightweights for the better, way better.
They make scales that work on the Para 3 LW, but I've been unable to locate any scales anywhere that are compatible with the Manix 2 LW.
@@hificat101 That's because they don't exist.
@@hificat101best you can do is swap blades.
Damn bro they already sent you two?!
Maybe save one of them for a Christmas giveaway? Since by then they are for sure sold out and will make someone really happy. I mean they will be happy if you do it tomorrow, but anyway 😅
I'll take that gorgeous extra😊
Just like buck cost more with s30v but actually the 420 HC is a much better
Knifecenter tree rex shaman?
That's pretty sharp. If you call it the stormtrooper version, will there be a Jedi version with a mini lightsaber???
I would bankrupt myself and take out a second mortgage for the mini lightsaber bladed version🤣😂🤣😂
Imagine something like a pm2 or a smock with a red blade, or a lil native with a green lol
Love the colorway but wish it was in a stainless steel. Undecided
Have you used any of the non stainless steels before?
@@nickallen8333 just d2 which isn’t far from stainless, also 1095 which was too corrosive for my liking.
I really dislike the lightweight Spyderco models. I prefer the full liners and Im really looking forward to the new Bodacious having scales/liners like the regular Manix 2. The lightweight models just don't do it for me and I feel like the knives feel more "loose" and flexible compared to the standard models.
So you're more of a heavy weight knife person correct?
$143.50...Magnacut $162.40 👊🏼
Beauty.
The lightweight Manic is my favorite carry by far. It gets zero love in the knife community, i just don't get it.
My concern with the LW Manix is I had a Para 3 LW, and the handle was the cheapest feeling knife I've ever felt. Weird because I've never had that problem with other Spyderco FRN scales Luke the Delica. I think the difference might be that the Para 3 came with "volcano scales" and all the other stuff I have in FRN from them has bidirectional scales.
What a Coincidence...I do not have a Manix 2 in MY collection either...just sayin
OMG! Please Lord Vader.......this is the knife I'm looking for!
