  • Mezzo-soprano Marianne Crebassa and pianist Fazıl Say share some tantalising, captivating and sensuous Secrets in this album of songs, centred on Debussy’s Trois Chansons de Bilitis, Ravel’s Shéhérazade and Fazıl Say’s own Gezi Park 3 - which he and Crebassa premiered in 2014. Describing the recording sessions, Marianne Crebassa says: “Sometimes we worked in a kind of trance … there were some moments when nothing seemed to exist around us …”

What I love about her voice is not only the beauty of her voice, but it's warmth: It is so approachable, so deep. If your mother sang to you with the voice of an angel, this is how it would sound.

Mezzo-sopranos are often underestimated in favor of sopranos, but Marianne is much better than many so called sopranos I've seen, her voice has such power and vibration.

To have such a big sound requires incredible talent as a mezzo-the sound doesn’t project as well (similar to the viola)...

@@tammcd No, "les faux amis" is "false friends". It's an expression to indicate that you think you are speaking correctly in a foreign language, but in fact your translation is erroneous because you are being fooled by words which look appropriate to you but have differences in meaning in the context of use.
