Thank you. I have a breeder friend who had this dog, Rikki, that was considered aggressive and nasty (I now own Rikki, I love her). My friend called one day to say that Rikki had bitten the groomer and that she refused to finish her or to ever see her again. My friend wanted to know if I would help her finish the clipping. I had watched this particular video and used the techniques for nervous dogs that you suggested. They worked beautifully. Rikki fully cooperated with me; never got nasty with me. My friend said, "I don't know why but this dog likes you. Just take her, I can't stand her!". Rikki joined our family and has continued to entertain us and be the most loving and, no longer, misunderstood dog. Thank you!
You have a gentle and supportive way with all the dogs. So important to help them be confident. Empathy is not something I've seen enough of in groomers and trainers. In my experience, babying, including baby talk, just increases their anxiety. Glad you covered that, as well. I have a Peke and he needs daily grooming particularly his eyes and nasal fold/wrinkle. I think many people don't realize the care involved with certain breeds. Groomers are invaluable and often spot things owners are unaware of. It is also important that pet parents learn to do the basics inbetween trips to a professional groomer. So nice that your videos educate. 💕🐶😻😽💕
Your calm and kind energy goes a long way in helping with these situations. I've watched other groomers that have a more aggressive and aggravated energy and attitude, and i really think it makes a huge difference in how the dog reacts and cooperates.
Love your videos, they have taught me so much and I home groom both my Aussie Doodles, I have always started off brushing with a softer pin brush with rounded ends, it gently gets the worst tangles out, before using a slicker brush. Both my dogs stand perfectly on the grooming table, after this desensitising. I recently watched another groomer's video, who gave up on the young Doodle, stating it was dangerous, she was yanking it's hair with the slicker brush and it was terrified, I could hardly bear to watch. You only have to run a slicker brush over the back of your hand to see how it feels on skin, it is basically a wire brush and not only scratches, but can cut the skin if used too roughly! Thank you Amy for all of your wonderful videos and showing people just how it should be done, if only all groomers were as passionate, knowledgeable, kind and caring as you are x
Your tips are so helpful. I don't groom my own dog, but I do brushing, combing, bathing etc. How to get them stand by touching gentle pressure on abdomen is magic! Helping them stay confident by elevating their head. Many more tips I love 💘! I love your demeanor, voice inflection, & empathy you give to your furry friends. Thank yo

+Leslie Barnes sure do! If you’re planning to have him or her professionally groomed-12 weeks is a perfect time to get them acclimated to that. Find a groomer near you that you trust and feel comfortable with and get your puppy scheduled as soon as you can for a bath and light trim. If you are planning to use professional groomer your guy to get your puppy started now. Grooming salons or completely different than anything dogs are used to and they need to learn that they are safe there:)
Go Groomer what would your suggestion be as far as me doing doing it myself? For example, should I start off on her with all the basics you discussed in Episode 2 of trimming your Goldendoodle? Or do I need to adjust differently because she’s a puppy? Thank you!
+Leslie Barnes if you’re going to be her Groomer, then this is what you’ll have to do. First you’re going to need to purchase a portable grooming table. A good brush and Comb. A clipper, a 30 blade and a 10 blade, and the stainless steel wahl snap on combs. Also and 8 1/2 inch straight Shear. That’s basically the equipment you’re going to need to maintain your dog at home. Secondly, you have to come up with a grooming schedule for her and stick to it just as if she had a standing appointment made at a professional grooming facility. You need to start working with her now brushing, bathing and drying about every 2 to 3 weeks:) There are several videos on my channel that can help you through all of those things:)
I'll try and look in your videos/playlists. You are so kind etc with the dogs, I wish I had something to talk to her about. Tell her the 3 bears story. Lol
Hello!! I love your channel!! I would love to buy a little brush your using, where can I buy one at, I have 1 mini poodle, 1 full size maltese, and 3 maltepoos. I have a table , I need new scissors, I bought , a kit with 2 curved , 2 straight, and 1 that looks like a comb, I don't know how to use that , it doesn't seem to do anything. I spent about $100.00 on the table, $35.00 on 5 pack of scissors, they are all dull one broke in half. I've tried sharpening them, I think I made them worse. My dogs names are Gizzy, Lucy, Lily, Cooper all have the poodle hair, (Gizzy dad) and tank is like his dad longer hair but his is thick brownish red hair I think he's the mail man's dog 😆. He doesn't look anything like the Family haha. I would like to purchase a little brush your using. Do you know where I can find scissors at least for a decent price as well? And the small brush too? Thank you so much😊 TFS! Julie

Go Groomer thank you VERY much!! ❤️❤️
any idea how to get my dog to stand still because he never stands still and he hates with i touch his paws or tail
Make sure he's secure on a grooming table.
Mine hates his paws getting messed with also. She so sweet and gentle - until I go to cut her hair. Bathing is easy.
The video you put it up on how to clean the eyes and mouth disappeared. Can you put it up again?
Julie

If ANYONE holds my dog that close to her butt they're going to get bitten. No question.
