- Groom your dog like a Professional...here are My SECRET Steps to GROOM ANY DOG! The Idea is to always perform the steps of a groom in the same order no matter what breed or coat type you are grooming.
This eliminates the possibility of you forgetting or skipping a step. Today I will share with you the exact steps I follow every day for every groom…and have put it all together in a demo that is easy to follow.
Here are the order and steps I follow to avoid dog grooming clipping mistakes.
• Clipper work first! All body, head, and leg clipping first...meaning if I use an "A" comb over a #30 blade....I complete all the clipping with that blade.
• Next, I may use a larger snap-on comb on the head and cheeks. So I will switch to that blade or comb and complete all clipping with that comb.
Hint...you can use either a 10, 15 or 30 blade under your guard combs
• I use a # 10 under my attachment combs which makes it easy when it's time for my #10 blade work...corner of eyes, sanitary, armpits, and ear lobes..which is the next step for clipper work.
• The last step of clipper work is to shave the pads of the feet...I use a detachable #30 blade for this step with my Wahl km 10 clipper but you can use a 10, 15 or 30 blade or use your 5 in 1 clipper for this step.

I feel extremely blessed to have come across your channel, and have been thoroughly enjoying all of your videos. I worked at a groomers 25 years ago for a couple of years and I was never taught alot of the things im learning from you. I have been a, dog rescuer for many years and shipped peoples personal pets from coast to coast. I love dogs, and cats. Where i live theres a huge need for groomers. My husband is building me a very nice self contained grooming trailer, and I finally at 52 years of age feel like im going to be doing what i was meant to do. Finding out however, there is more i need to learn and i'm getting that from you. Thank you for this!! My question is do you groom cats? I have always believed unless they are show cats dont do it, cats groom themselves already, mine does. I do however brush him daily to elemenate some of the shedding and furballs. what is your position on grooming cats, and any personal advice as i begin working for myself in this honorable profession? Karrie Brown thank you! I’m so glad you found me too💕 I only groom dogs in my profession because I feel cat grooming is a specialty in itself. Cats and dogs are different to approach when we’re talking grooming. My specialty is with dogs and that’s where my expertise is. However I have a long-haired cat that I do groom myself. Tina Dogmom8 training and certification is needed;) your clients will want this assurance as well. I would not go with ABC... check into Paragon virtual program. There are a lot of important basics that not all programs focus on. You need to learn appropriate content before grooming dogs professionally🥰 hope this helps;)

Hi! I'm here to bug you again. If I remember correctly, you have an ebook on learning all there is to learn about grooming. I LOVE all your tutorials...they are amazing....but I'm older than dirt and can't find it when I go back trying to find it. I very much want to purchase it. You give so much that I sure don't want to mooch off of you. Is there anyway you can tell me where I can find it. We are puppy freaks. My husband and I have 4 poodles, 3 tiny ones and just for a standard poodle. My daughter has 3 puppies, 2 poodles and 1 standard golden doodles. Believe me, our home is full. lol. We DO NOT leave them outside. They are inside dogs. Now I am wanting a golden doodle. lol We have never bred any of them. The Standard Poodle and the Standard Golden Doodle are still babies and the other ones have different things like Seizures, one has a horrible attitude to other dogs. We have had them almost 10 years and never had an uh oh with them. The tiny one....about 3 lbs thinks she is a Great Dane. lol. I tell you all this cause we are very responsible with our babies.
Anyway I can't thank you enough for everythin you do!

I adopted an almost 8 year old mini-schnauzer 2 months ago and even though the people I got her from said they groomed her regularly she refuses to let me groom her head and face. She also doesn't let me do much with her feet. Any ideas for how to get her to relax so I can groom her more easily? I had another mini-schnauzer before and he was great at letting me groom him.

Question: Amy I am really good at grooming my dogs at home because of your videos. I love these steps. My question is is it necessary to use thinning scissors?
I am very adept at using good scissors and have spent a fortune on Grooming table, shampoo etc. but I have watched other groomers before you ( before I discovered you) and most recommended thinning scissors. My dogs aren't show dogs, but they all look adorable when I get finished. ( Patting myself on back because I have followed your instructions)
Just questioning if thinning scissors would do that much difference. Trudy 💜
You certainly do not have to use thinning shears. It really does soften your scissor work but you can do a great job with straight shears too:)

Amy, also uses the "Les Poochs Mat Zapper" brush. It's very similar to the Activet brush. You will need to go to their website. Amazon dont sell them.

wow, i can't believe how much good information you have in your videos and notes. thank you very much for your efforts ! hadn't groomed any of our dogs for over 20 years just came out of grooming retirement for corona shutdown - and our sheepadoodles were needing attention right as the shutdown happened... first cut was with scissors , next time will use clippers (wish me luck)

Thank you for your videos, I groom my senior cockapoo and bichon-poodle mix, I’m having a hard time with finding the right shampoo/conditioners, the cockapoo has very normal hair but dry skin and bichonpoo seems to get oily fur 2-3 days after groom like I never groomed him, do you have any suggestions?
Alphafemale4 great question! Try the plum silky shampoo and sunguard conditioner by Nature’s Specialties. Be sure to dilute as suggested and over rinse all products from the skin and coat during bathing. Watch my video called “mistakes you make while bathing your dog”. That should answer a lot of questions concerning bathing your pets. 😊

My biggest problem is static in my schnauzer's fur. Everything clings to her. Is there a product to reduce static electricity in her fur?
Condition your dog after shampooing. It balances out the skin and coat.

I have just been hired as a big bather.
I noticed all of my finger tips are swollen and a bit numb. Any advice as google only says to soak in water which isn’t helping. Tia for any advice

Which size of the absorber towel do you use most often?
Susan Arthur all of my absorber towels are the small size priced at $16.99. I use that size on all dogs breeds💕
do you use a different absorber for every dog or just wash it with soap in-between? I stopped using mine because I didnt want to transfer skin issues..
I use about 5 in a day, but soak them in hot water and vinegar in a bucket then wring out, roll up and store for tomorrow.
Do they get hard when dry?

Hello. I just found your channel. I have 2 Mini Schnauzers that I groom at home. One is super easy. He has wirey hair. It takes no time to groom him. My other one has the cotton soft hair. She grows out so much quicker. I have no problems with the body and face. I struggle with the legs and pads of her feet. I need help. I would like to use the clippers on her legs but dont know which blade/comb I need to attach to the clippers. I have the Andis 2 speed clippers. Also I struggle getting all the hair out from her pads. She is constantly slipping on our floors. Any advice would be great. Thanks

Don’t have any equipment for my dog apart from dog shampoos and condoning never used a razor only scissors no access to groomer where I live also disabled but I brush him every day had to cut round his face with scissors not great so I just found you on u tube
