Here's a cool little background story for you.
Alan Rickman didn't want to play Snape; after reading the script for Philosopher's Stone, he disliked the character.
But as you can see he was perfect for the role... and JK Rowling recognised that he was perfect for it and decided to make an exception just for Alan.
She went to his home, and over a cup of tea, she told Alan all about her plan for Snape; the plan to turn him into a tragic hero.
That was the only reason he agreed to the role and put his best foot forward in the role, because he was 1 of only 2 people in the world, who knew the fate of Severus Snape.

one of the saddest parts for me of the resurrection stone scene is that James had to watch his son go to Lupin and Sirius for comfort and advice over him because they had been more prominent father figures in Harry’s life since Harry never got to know James.
Another really sad part is more prominent in the books because of the way they casted the Potters in the movies, but James and Lily were only 21 when they died, so during that scene Harry was only like 4 years younger than them.

    • @DeadSezSo
      @DeadSezSo 2 года назад +49

Agreed but I think it was partially due to the fact that seeing James bully Snape affected the way he saw his father for a long time because it was so dramatically against Harry's principles. That was the closest thing he had to a memory with his father and it wasn't a pleasant one. Obviously he still loved his father but it was probably years before he could finally accept the reasoning that James was young and not everybody has the maturity Harry had from a young age

He was able to get to know Sirius and Lupin, he never got that opportunity with his father. I agree he forgave him but sometimes, you can forgive someone for their behavior in the past but it's something that forever alters the way you see that person. But the fact he named one of his sons James speaks to the fact that as he aged, he saw how he too changed. And he understood at that point that his father, whatever he was in his school days, was still a good person at heart. Age grants you wisdom you didn't have before.

Jk Rowling knew there would be 7 books and had the main plot and story lines planned out, as you get towards the end you realise how so many things connect together in the books. For example she knew that Harry would need to lead a large group of people at the end (hence dumbledores army in the fifth film)
    - the patronasus: a doe patronus was Harry's mother's patronus and his father's was a stag. A male and female version of the same animal means you are soulmates. James matured in his seventh year much more and was made head boy while lily was mad head girl. They grew closer and lily and Snape were no longer friends because he called her a mudblood when she tried to help him when James was bullying him. (Scene from fifth film). If a changes to the same as that person's it means that you were either influenced by that person or that you feel deep love for them and that is why Snape's patronus took the same form as lily's. In the end when he asked Harry to look at him and told him that he had his mother's eyes was because he wanted to see lily's eyes one last time before he died.
    - the three deathly hallows each belonged to three brother, like in the story. One was Harry's ancestor (the cloak) and the other voldermorts (the stone which was on voldermorts mother's ring, the ring being turned into a horcrux)
    - when lily sacrificed herself for Harry she protected him, this was the same act that Harry had done for everyone else meaning if he knew that he was going to live after watching Snape's memories no one in hogwarts would be protected by voldermort because he would have done because he knew he would live anyway. That's why he couldn't know.
    - in the books, Snape would never have had the elder wand even if he disarmed dumbledore anyway because they had planned for it and he was doing it so dumbledore wouldn't have to suffer with the curse on his hand, this would mean that the connection would die with him.
    - Harry got rid of the stone as it said that no one would be happy for coming into the mortal world when they were supposed to be dead. And in the books he mends his own wand with the elder wand and places back in dumbledores grave so that no one could truly own it afterwards. Harry kept the cloak to give to his children as it was a family heirloom. If is revealed that the master of death would also be one of the most targeted people, I think Harry had had enough of that 😂
    - Harry and Ginny's children were James Sirius, albus' Severus and lily Luna. Hermione and Ron's were Hugo and rose Granger Weasley. Harry, Ron and Hermione became top auras at the ministry and were on the chocolate frog cards. Ginny became a chaser on a famous quidditch team and Neville became the new herbology professor.
    - for the malfoys, narcissa asked Harry when he laying there if Draco was alive, he very slightly nodded her head and that's why she didn't give him away, she just wanted to protect her son. When voldermort was seeing if Draco would go over to his side, he was waiting for someone to keep him back and him and his family would have just been killed there and then, he didn't have much choice. His father was sent to azkaban where as him and his mother were fine.
    - Remus and tonks had a son named teddy lupin, after tonks' father. Harry was made his godfather. He was a metamorphagus, like tonks meaning he could change his appearance at will to anything.
    Hope this helps :))))

The movie doesn't do it right by explaining why Harry could get back to life - it looks like the resurrection stone was responsable for this. In fact, on the 4th book/movie, Voldy used Harry's blood on the ritual to get his body back, which caused Lily's protection to run within Voldy's veins as well - and that's the huge mistake that led to Harry's comeback right after he got hit by the Avada Kedavra curse spell. In other words, yes, Voldy was able to touch Harry since they shared the same blood, but this one fact also made Harry attached to life as long as Voldemort existed - cause Lily's sacrifice was all about getting Harry protected against their enemy. Nice reaction as always!!!

@@-mitcko There is no such thing as a master of death. That is in fact just a story. There were 3 powerful brothers who created 3 powerful objects but that's it. The master of death thing is more of a metaphor for embracing death when you need to. The one who owns all 3 deathly hallows got them by understanding death which is why he can welcome it when it's his time. Being the master of the Elder Wand was part of the reason why the Avada Kedavra curse on Harry by Voldemort in the forest didn't succeed but it was mostly due to his blood protection from his mother. The wand played a bigger role in the final duel though.

I don't know if you're still reading these, or if you know this already, but there was a huge hint to how Snape truly felt about Lilly, in the very first film.
There was an article about it in the Good Housekeeping magazine.
In Harry's first lesson with Snape, asks Harry, ‘Tell me, what would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?’
While the complexity behind the Potions question went completely over our heads...
According to Victorian flower language, asphodel is a type of lily meaning “my regrets follow you to the grave” and wormwood means “absence” and also typically symbolises bitter sorrow. If you combined that, Snape’s words mean “I bitterly regret Lily’s death”.’
So, right from the start, Snape tells us in exactly how he feels about her, we just didn't understand.

OK my friend :) You're very right about the fact that the books contain much more than what could be conveyed in the movies. So to lure you down into the rabbit hole of the seven volumes, here's a teaser, a short fragment of the dialogue that Harry and Dumbledore had after Voldemort "killed" Harry:
"But if Voldemort used the Killing Curse," Harry started again, "and nobody died for me this time-- how can I be alive?"
"I think you know," said Dumbledore. "Think back. Remember what he did, in his ignorance, in his greed and his cruelty."
Harry thought. He let his gaze drift over his surroundings. If it was indeed a palace in which they sat, it was an odd one, with chairs set in little rows and bits of railing here and there, and still, he and Dumbledore and the stunted creatures under the chair were the only beings there. Then the answer rose to his lips easily, without effort.
"He took my blood," said Harry.
"Precisely!" said Dumbledore. "He took your blood and rebuilt his living body with it! Your blood in his veins, Harry, Lily's protection inside both of you! He tethered you to life while he lives!"
"I live... while he lives? But I thought... I thought it was the other way around! I thought we both had to die? Or is it the same thing?"
He was distracted by the whimpering and thumping of the agonized creature behind them and glanced back at it yet again.
"Are you sure we can't do anything?"
    "There is no help possible."
"Then explain... more," said Harry, and Dumbledore smiled.
"You were the seventh Horcrux, Harry, the Horcrux he never meant to make. He had rendered his soul so unstable that it broke apart when he committed those acts of unspeakable evil, the murder of your parents, the attempted killing of a child. But what escaped from that room was even less than he knew. He left more than his body behind. He left part of himself latched to you, the would-be victim who had survived."
"And his knowledge remained woefully incomplete, Harry! That which Voldemort does not value, he takes no trouble to comprehend. Of house-elves and children's tales, of love, loyalty, and innocence, Voldemort knows and understands nothing. Nothing. That they all have a power beyond his own, a power beyond the reach of any magic, is a truth he has never grasped."
"He took your blood believing it would strengthen him. He took into his body a tiny part of the enchantment your mother laid upon you when she died for you. His body keeps her sacrifice alive, and while that enchantment survives, so do you and so does Voldemort's one last hope for himself."
Dumbledore smiled at Harry, and Harry stared at him.
"And you knew this? You knew-- all along?"
"I guessed. But my guesses have usually been good," said Dumbledore happily, and they sat in silence for what seemed like a long time, while the creature behind them continued to whimper and tremble.

•after the war at Hogwarts, Hermione finds her parents in Australia and restores their memories. She works for the Ministry of Magic, improving life for house elves and later moves to the Deparment of Magical Law Enforcement and assists in removing oppressive, pro-pureblood laws. She's also the godmother of James Sirius Potter.
•Ginny plays for the Hollyhead Harpies Quidich team for a time, then writes about Quidditch for the Daily Prophet.
•Sadly, George never fully does get over Fred's death but continues his successful joke shop, gets married and has 2 children.
•Luna becomes a famous wizading naturalist, travelling the world in search of strange creatures. She ends up getting married with Rolf Scamander (you'll know about that last name in Fantastic Beast).
•Dolores Umbridge is arrested, interrogated and imprisoned for crimes against muggle-borns.
•Draco and his family avoided imprisonment in Azkaban thanks to Narcissa (Draco's mother). He also refuses to follow the old pure-blood line and raises his son Scorpius to be a much kinder and more accepting Malfoy than he was in his youth.
•Neville briefly works as an Auror, then becomes professor of Herbology at Hogwarts. He is also goddfather of Harry's second son, Albus.
    •Azkaban no longer uses Dementors.
•A portrair of Snape does not appear in the headmaster's office as he abandoned his post but Harry ensures the addition of Snape's portrait and publicly reveals Snape's loyalty.
•Professor McGonagall was awarded the Order of Merlin First Class for her unwavering allegiance to the Order of the Phoenix and then is featured in the Chocolate Frog Famous Witches and Wizards series. She becomes the headmistress of Hogwards.

I remember that this film was so big and long anticipated that our small-town Regal cinemas had 3 theater screens open for the midnight premiere. Me and my bestfriend got to the theater at 2 or 3pm and just sat in line on the floor to get the best seats possible. My theater was attached to the mall so we took turns getting food to keep our place in line. Good memories. I remember buying a deathly hallows necklace and all the kids who came in costume. Harry Potter really is such a huge part of my childhood. 10 years. I read the first book in 3rd grade when the movie was coming out. 2001. And right around graduation in 2011 the last movie. Really felt like the end of my childhood even more then turning 18, ending high school, and starting college.

    2) In the last duel, when Voldy Baldy looked at Elder wand, it(the wand) turned green, because of avada kedavra curse, and went straight into Voldy's hand, this is why it( hand) turned black
    3) The soundtrack ,, Dumbledore's farewell" was used as in Snape's memories as when everybody rised their wands, showing the dramatism.
    4) When Snape said to Harry ,,Look at me" , he wanted to see Harry's eyes, because Harry had Lily' eyes, the person Snape loved his entire life.
    5) The soundtrack ,,Lily's theme" was used when Snape died.
    6) Ron casted Avada Kedavra towards Voldy's snake(Nagini).
    7) When Snape said Avada Kedavra in Half Blood prince, he said it with sadness.
    8) The first and last words of Dobby when he was looking to Harry were ,,Harry Potter".
    9) Harry did not need the Ressurection Stone, because the horcrux part died, not Harry himself.
    10) Lily said the same word as Snape: Always.
    11) The ending was very similar to the book one, just more poetic.
    12) The reason why they chose Voldy to turn into ashes was to show the reality: Voldemort broke his soul into 7 piece, but when they were destroyed, he broke himself into hundreds of them, showing his mortality.

Ugh the running theme of mothers love saving Harry is something that always gets me.
The love Lily had for him standing between Voldy and him.
The love Narcissa has for Draco lying to Voldy.

Biggest difference from the movie and the books is that Harry uses the Elder Wand to repair his original wand. Then he voluntarily gives it back to Dumbledore in his tomb and that act removes the powers of the Elder Wand because no one had ever voluntarily given the wand away.

after this, for a while I didn't know what to do with my life. I was so devastated, it was like my childhood coming to an end.
I still cry every time I watch this one, even after watching it like 50 times

    LOTR next... YES!
But first thing first. This film's great! Hope you liked it too.
Draco didn't wanna kill Harry, it was Gregory Goyle aiming at Hermione, I think.
If Draco wanted Harry dead, he should have turned him in last movie,
it would have improved things for the Malfoys, but he still didn't do it.
Draco overheard them talking about the diadem, so now he was after it too,
to give it to Voldy, and redeem his family somewhat.
