I honestly think we just gotta ban the character cus I can't handle watching these dumb ass sets no more. Maybe then Nintendo will actually do something too if he just stays banned for a while
Im confused. Why was every game on the same stage? Im coming from melee, where there's a lot of platform movement. Am i just watching the wrong players/characters or is ult a much more grounded game?
Typically in most matchups you see a pretty healthy variety of stages, but small battlefield and Pokémon stadium 2 are basically favorites among a lot of players/characters. Also platforms are a bit odd in Ultimate. I don't know the exact mechanics behind it but people like to refer to platforms as being "sticky". Sometimes your character just won't drop through the platform. Whether this is the result of a conflicting input or the game not buffering the down input during landing lag I'm not sure. Typically with combos and movements you tend to see things progressing upward, and the person on the platform in neutral is at a disadvantage because acting downward is awkward and unreliable. I might be WAY OFF, but this is my best understanding.
A big reason is Steve as a character. He slows this game to a crawl. On Small Battlefield (as well as PS2) he can make those walls and then mine under theh platforms which makes approaching him very hard if not impossible for certain characters. Hence why a big portion of this set was them just standing around. Another reason is that Steve mines up different materials at greater rates, so certain stages are way better for Steve than others
I will never understand why they gave Steve mid air block placement. AND THEN not only 1 mid air block that can block recovery, but 3?! or more?! Dude outplayed Acola in every way games 3-5. What a joke to lose to that. It's basically a down air spike as big as a battlefield platform. He was robbed from one of the craziest sets of all time. Webb was playing out of his mind.

Bro was spamming mine cart for free
Nah I’m pissed
F Steve. Too much jank. Patch him. He can’t even do those midair walls in his own game. (Acola is a great player who deserves respect, but Steve’s kit was the difference rather than Acola’s performance in this set.)
Unfortunately the game ain't getting anymore patches I don't think and I don't see nintendo doing anything themselves. I honestly think we just gotta ban the character cus I can't handle watching these dumb ass sets no more. Maybe then Nintendo will actually do something too if he just stays banned for a while
I just realized, is Webbs in game tag referencing the PaP'd raygun?
Acola Game 5 strikes again…
In the most absurd way possible!
Markiplier: AAHHRRG AFTER ALLL THAT
Also Markiplier: It’s chance it’s flipping chance! I hate when skill doesn’t mean anything!
That popoff is so cringe 💀
The winner def clutched it but I gotta admit, that was the least satisfying ending ever.
I know you said "the winner" to avoid spoiling the set, which I appreciate! But just based off what you said I can tell Acola won lmaoooo
日本人だけどシーク応援してた笑
流石に大体の人がシーク応援するやろ
Acola's no doubt good at the game but I just will never get excited to see him win or even play. Well played to Webb
悔しいけどこれがスマブラSPなんだよな
WebbJP is so much more skilled than Acola. Steve puts him on his back tbh
何だ、これは。スティーブの時代が来たな!
😂
What a heartbreaking ending
DE LO MEJOR QUE HE VISTO DE SMASH EN MUCHO TIEMPO, GRACIAS WebbJP UFFF YOU ARE THE BEST WebbJP!!!!
Love when Acola uses jab, jab, jab, jab, jab, jab
All my homies hate acola for this
WeebJp is the real winner

Top 10 mot tragic anime deaths.
Webb should've taken a pahe from Sonix and time out
Thats it im never watching steve again
this game was INSANE WTFFFFF
I will never understand why they gave Steve mid air block placement. AND THEN not only 1 mid air block that can block recovery, but 3?! or more?! Dude outplayed Acola in every way games 3-5. What a joke to lose to that. It's basically a down air spike as big as a battlefield platform. He was robbed from one of the craziest sets of all time. Webb was playing out of his mind.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
