Forgot to mention one more important thing, 94-98 Sierra grilles have DIFFERENT side markers and reflectors then the 94-98 Silverados. They look very similar but will not fit properly if you try to interchange them. Check video description for the correct part numbers!

Let me ask you in detail I have a factory 98 Silverado if I want to do opposite use a 93 style grill that has phantom billet inserts. Is anything needed oppositely going from 93 grill onto a 98 front end . I'm assuming all I need to do is attach my 98 filler onto the grill . I'm pretty much doing opposite of this video if I'm correct
I just want too leave my filler in place on the 98 and remove the grill and place the 93 grill on which should be fine wether it's a 93 style or 94-98 it definitely uses composite headlights so I'm assuming it's a 94-98 style and he must have done the swap at some point on the 93 to the newer style ??
@@Chevro91 To go backwards, you'll need the 88-93 grille, filler piece, two side wing pieces, and all 4 bumper brackets. Without the brackets, swapping on a 93 grille will leave a gap. I don't think the grille will line up properly with the 94-98 filler piece still in place.

I have a 95 silverado with an extra grill. the look I like and just got a 94 sierra 2500 and wanted to swap grilles more parts and involved than I thought. Thanks for all the info. I do admit the gmc grill with the same color as the hood is a good look.

Now that’s how that truck is supposed to look. I did the same thing to my GMC C3500. Now it’s a Chevy C3500. That gmc grill wanted to come off. Best improvement yet to that truck.

I’m doing something similar with my 93 GMC Suburban. You’re right, those emblems ain’t cheap! About $60 for the Chevy, and $110 for the GMC! My GMC emblem still looks great, maybe I should sell it…

It’s interesting you’re going from gmc to Chevy. I have a 93 blazer and I put a gmc grille on it. To me, it looks cleaner.

I have my eye on a low mileage dually and the 94 and up grill is what will set apart.

Yeah I used all 4 brackets from a 94-98 truck.
This video is helping out a lot. I'm switching my 93 old style grill to the 94 style Chevy grill. Question for the bumper filler panels, did you buy those at the GM parts direct or what website did you go through?
I got it through my local GM dealership. With body panels I usually like to make sure I’m getting OEM quality so I know it will fit properly.
@@ao10s ok cool ya lesson learned I bought an aftermarket one test fitted it before paint and it fit like crap didn't line up to to side panels...I ordered a GM genuine one today..
Haha I want to do the opposite, I have a 96 GMC K2500 with 270,000 and a 98 Chevy K2500 with 75,000 I think the GMC grill looks better myself , but to each his own !

I would assume so, but the wiring harness may be different if you swap to the dual headlights.
Did you have to make holes for those grommets to hold the bumper filler or are the already in the core support ?
On mine the holes were already there.
Some of the core supports are different where you attach the filler piece. I can’t swap my 93 because of this

Question on the 94-98 Chevrolet grill, where did you purchase it from? I can’t seem to find a grill that fully surrounds the bow tie like the one you installed.
From my local GM dealership, but the 15981106 grille I used in this video is now discontinued. I would check Amazon.

Do you mind measuring from the grill to the bumper? I think the previous owner didnt install the 94-98 bumper brackets because the bumper filler doesnt fit right on my 93

I'm not sure exactly, it was on the truck when I bought it. I would guess someone bought a stock replacement for a 88-98 GMC that came in black, had it painted, then bought the billet grille insert for it afterwards.

Yeah otherwise you’ll a gap between the bumper and bottom of the grille

The billet grille that was on first was an aftermarket one from when I bought the truck. I’d try eBay or Amazon for a 88-93 GMC black grille, then you can paint it. The front bumper only came on diesel models.
How did you install the billet grill or change it from the factory plastic grill insert
It was an aftermarket billet grille I think you just had to cut out the factory one out and use some mounting brackets for the new one.
I wouldn’t mind buying the 93 grille from you with the bumpers brackets and all. Need white too

You’d have to do the complete opposite of what I showed in my video. If you put a 88-93 grille on a 94, you’d have a big gap on the top of the front bumper. So you’d need to swap your bumper brackets out with a 88-93 too.
Where did you get your head lights and the side ones from the gmc grill ?
The headlights are OEM, you could get them from a dealership. The amber side lights I got from Amazon.

Do you need to change all 4 bumper mounts? Or just inner? I was told the inner ones are longer but outer are the same
The outers were different lengths when I compared the 88-93s to the 94-98s I bought.

I can't be certain but I wouldn't think so. Those vans look a lot different.

Whatever grille you’re putting on make sure you have the matching bumper brackets.

Is it true you need 94-98 bumper brackets because I got a 92 Silverado and I got brackets from a 97 suburban and they are the same length
I laid mine down side by side and the 94-98s were a bit longer, GM also has them listed as different part numbers than the 88-93s.

Yes if you swap in a 88-93 WT grille you’ll have a gap without the shorter 88-93 brackets.

@@carportmods Yes 88-93 and 94-98 have different length brackets, inner and outer. 88-93's are a little shorter.
hey i tried to switch to a 1994 grille with my 92 so i could use the new side markers but there's nothing holding to bottom or center of the new grille

@@dylanmilliorn4466 You need the 94-98 filler piece, its what the 94-98 grille mounts to on the bottom. Check the description for the numbers, don't forget the side pieces.

All GM part numbers. Can order from GM parts direct or from your dealership.
@@ao10s Hopefully ordering from GM Direct doesn't incurr insane shipping charges like LMC does for oversize items but you can bet which ever one you use, the prices will ream your wallet before shipping charges if you have a big project.

You need 93 bumper brackets and the corner wing pieces for it to fit properly.
Color match all the way. Chrome should be a minor accent only. All trucks these days have an ungodly amount of chrome on them. That fender should be white to break this shiny look up imo.

No, the grille changed for 1994. The dashboard changed in 1995.

Since there's more Chevy trucks than GMCs out there, at least around here, I think I'll keep my GMC grille on there. And I wouldn't to see other little telltale differences on the truck such as GMC on the horn button and a Chevy bowtie grille. That just devalues the truck to me.
