Eventually i bought her Roller Coaster Tycoon and a few other classics. Haven't heard a peep about the scambox games not working since then. Thank god. We've developed an understanding that she needs to pay more than .00000000001 dollars per game.
Recently got her Sim City 4, but I've also set up DosBox to automatically start Windows 3.1(so she won't have to memorize the commands herself) when DosBox is started. That has Sim Tower and UZ on it. Also a few of the nicer indie platformers because she gets sick playing 3D games.
Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 was enough to keep her busy for most of last year, but she always liked sim games like that. Casual but interesting is good, yeah. Tons of old shit you can buy/setup emulation for. GoG should have versions of old games that are jiggered to work on modern hardware, right? More modern game should work too if you pick correctly.

I like Sleeping Dogs. The driving just wasn't a priority in that game. It certainly works just fine and is fun, but nobody plays Sleeping Dogs to drive.
You know its a sad day when we keep getting better textures and models but physics that affect actual gameplay are non existent. GTA V is the biggest problem here since they keep focusing on trivial shit, you have a map bigger than china and there's jack shit to do in it. And they also gave us a sea floor and fucking custom apartments in online WWWHAT WHY? but cars handing and pedestrians are arcade and unrealistic as shit.
