Great first flosstube. We stitch totally different things, but that's what makes this hobby great. I've never stitched a pattern by Stitching with the Housewives. 1.

I Nancy-when your three boys graduated college we sold our suburban home and bought 23 acres in the country. Best move ever-only 12 miles from our original house so our grown kids are still close but now the grandkids have “country” grandparents 🙂. I’m a quilter and a cross stitched - our ranch is bigger so I have a huge craft room. Best decision ever❤️

Hi Nancy. Welcome to Flosstube. Great introduction. Welcoming setting. I felt as if I were sitting across the table from you. To answer your question, I began needlework when I was 8 ( my greatgrandmother taught me crewel embroidery). I began crossstitching when my first child was born; she is now 42. Looking forward to your next video.

Really enjoyed watching your flosstube. You are a natural. I feel like we are long lost best friends. Lol. I will be 50 in November, I have a kid in college and youngest is a freshman in high school, I am remarried, and we plan to move either when the youngest is out of college or at retirement. We aren’t sure where we will move to yet. It will probably depend on where the kids all end up. I started stitching about the same time you did. My mom taught me in the 80’s and us girls would stitch at sleepovers back then. I stopped for many years and then started back when I found newer patterns and finishes during Covid.

Wonderful first floss tube. You did a terrific job. I started with embroidery in about 3rd grade. I did cross stitch in the 80’s and early 90’s but life got in the way (3 babies in 5 years) so I stopped. I’m dealing with some long-haulers after having Covid in August and cannot sit at my sewing machine for any length of time to quilt so I picked up cross stitch again. Boy, the industry sure has changed!!! I love all kinds of crafting. I’m impressed with your 50 for 50 plan. I look forward to your next video. Good Luck! ONE

I frequent our dollar tree store but haven’t seen what you have shown so maybe we will still get it.

Hi Nancy, I have been stitching on and off for almost 40 years, I started with tapestry, but my mum wasn't a stitcher and nobody else I knew stitched I stopped for a few years, then I started to learn cross stitching from magazines, I still don't know anyone in person who cross stitches but I have met a lot of lovely stitchers via floss tube and Instagram and the stitching community is second to none, 1 please..

Wonderful first floss tube. You have some cute WIPs and finishes. I began stitching with stamped cross stitch and embroidery when I was about 7 or 8, so have been stitching for almost 60 years. I made my own short with topstitched patch pockets and a zipper when I was 10 years old but have lost my sewing bug almost completely to the point that I have about 20 pieces of stitching that need to be finished and they are just sitting there because I would rather just stitch. I found counted cross stitch in the 80s and really have not looked back other than a very occasional stamped or embroidery piece. I fell a couple weeks ago and broke 2 of the long bones in my dominant hand but still have been able to stitch, albeit much slower, once I got the sling and then the cast on. My mom says she would hate to be around me if I couldn't stitch for 4-6 weeks LOL! Your classroom and library sound like they are decorated so cute! Hope you are having good weather and happy stitching.

You were MUCH more relaxed than I was on my first FlossTube, LOL! Your stitching is beautiful. The Mary Kay Ash quote is “Aerodynamically, the bumblebee shouldn’t be able to fly, but doesn’t know it, and so goes on flying anyway”. It’s one of my favorite quotes, so much so that I had it on my helmet when I worked as a flight nurse for San Antonio AirLife, as there aren’t a whole lot of ‘fluffy’ flight nurses. Like you, I’ve been stitching since the 70’s-80’s (I’m 10 years older than you) and I remember those Paula Vaughns well! Happy stitching!
