Great first flosstube. We stitch totally different things, but that's what makes this hobby great. I've never stitched a pattern by Stitching with the Housewives. 1.
I Nancy-when your three boys graduated college we sold our suburban home and bought 23 acres in the country. Best move ever-only 12 miles from our original house so our grown kids are still close but now the grandkids have “country” grandparents 🙂. I’m a quilter and a cross stitched - our ranch is bigger so I have a huge craft room. Best decision ever❤️
Hello Nancy, Fabulous first flosstube video, welcome to this great community, I have not been stitching long, just a few years but I really enjoy it and watching flosstube. 1 please, see you next time.
Thanks for all the info on Dollar Tree stuff! Good luck on the 50 for 50. I have been stitching for four years now. A great hobby in retirement. 😊 1 One
Hi Nancy. Welcome to Flosstube. Great introduction. Welcoming setting. I felt as if I were sitting across the table from you. To answer your question, I began needlework when I was 8 ( my greatgrandmother taught me crewel embroidery). I began crossstitching when my first child was born; she is now 42. Looking forward to your next video.
Great first video. I started cross stitch as a child but put it away and picked it back up in the early 70s. I loved your wips, your life stories and your enthusiasm. I'm looking forward to your next video. 😊
Really enjoyed watching your flosstube. You are a natural. I feel like we are long lost best friends. Lol. I will be 50 in November, I have a kid in college and youngest is a freshman in high school, I am remarried, and we plan to move either when the youngest is out of college or at retirement. We aren’t sure where we will move to yet. It will probably depend on where the kids all end up. I started stitching about the same time you did. My mom taught me in the 80’s and us girls would stitch at sleepovers back then. I stopped for many years and then started back when I found newer patterns and finishes during Covid.
Wonderful first floss tube. You did a terrific job. I started with embroidery in about 3rd grade. I did cross stitch in the 80’s and early 90’s but life got in the way (3 babies in 5 years) so I stopped. I’m dealing with some long-haulers after having Covid in August and cannot sit at my sewing machine for any length of time to quilt so I picked up cross stitch again. Boy, the industry sure has changed!!! I love all kinds of crafting. I’m impressed with your 50 for 50 plan. I look forward to your next video. Good Luck! ONE
Thanks so much, Kay! Isn’t it cool to know how far cross stitch has come?! I really need to get moving if I am going to hit my 50! Hope to have more done soon.
Wonderful video.. enjoyed seeing all your stitching and look forward to visiting with you again. I have been cross stitching for about 45 to 46 years so familiar with some of your stitching and yep I’m a Paula Vaughan girl. Keep up the good work. Also, enjoy seeing your finds for finishing. I frequent our dollar tree store but haven’t seen what you have shown so maybe we will still get it.
Hi Nancy, your style of speaking is engaging! I stitched when I was in high school. Then was busy being a mom and with my career! I took it back up in late 2020. I’m medically retired due to disability. I’m looking forward to watching your flosstube journey!
Hi Nancy, I have been stitching on and off for almost 40 years, I started with tapestry, but my mum wasn't a stitcher and nobody else I knew stitched I stopped for a few years, then I started to learn cross stitching from magazines, I still don't know anyone in person who cross stitches but I have met a lot of lovely stitchers via floss tube and Instagram and the stitching community is second to none, 1 please..
I just found you, so glad I did, great first video, I can't wait to hear and see more, I have been stitching about 30+years, but like most stitchers I fall out of love with it occasionally, I quilt as well and I use to papercrafter too, Number 1 please.
LOL same thought about borders- ripping out and saying bad words.I’m in WNY also. Hobby House is a nice outing- I don’t do samplers but they have other things. I am a quilter as well I have a STABLE collection of cross stitch and quilting 😂
Nancy…so pleased to meet you…loved everything you shared…great podcast…I started stitching in high school…took time off for marriage and babies…love to stitch…right now after cataract surgery and going off a medicine that interfered with memory…I will get some new glasses soon and be back in business…thanks for all the treats of your stitching…best wishes and happy stitching ❤❤
Great flosstube, I have been stitching about 20 years, but I do take time out, I was always crafty even as a child, but I was the only one, so there wasn't much encouragement. Looking forward to seeing your next video. 1 please.
This is a great video. I learned very much about stitching and also about life. I am humbled to be able to access this content. Thank you, and go bills.
Great first flosstube! Like others have said, my grandma taught me when I was little. Stitched a few off and on, college and life and little kids and then started back in 2019. I remember the cross stitch aisle exactly how you described it back in the day, lol!
Great first video. Lots of useful content. I started doing cross stitch last August, so I'm still learning and depend on FlossTubes for helpful information. 1 Thank you!
Great video, you are a natural, I loved hearing about you, I have been stitching around 40 years, sometime I sew and I use to do tapestry, I love crafting, I don't know anyone else who cross stitches, but I love to watch flosstube and I have made many Instagram friends, 1
Nancy, I loved your first flosstube. Congratulations on doing such a nice presentation. Can’t believe how many large wips you have! They are beautiful. I live in Pa also. I knew you were from Pa when you showed the bunny toy and said it needed repaired😉. You did very well especially on your first try. Your eye in the camera was perfect! Thanks for sharing all of your lovely stitching.
Wonderful first floss tube. You have some cute WIPs and finishes. I began stitching with stamped cross stitch and embroidery when I was about 7 or 8, so have been stitching for almost 60 years. I made my own short with topstitched patch pockets and a zipper when I was 10 years old but have lost my sewing bug almost completely to the point that I have about 20 pieces of stitching that need to be finished and they are just sitting there because I would rather just stitch. I found counted cross stitch in the 80s and really have not looked back other than a very occasional stamped or embroidery piece. I fell a couple weeks ago and broke 2 of the long bones in my dominant hand but still have been able to stitch, albeit much slower, once I got the sling and then the cast on. My mom says she would hate to be around me if I couldn't stitch for 4-6 weeks LOL! Your classroom and library sound like they are decorated so cute! Hope you are having good weather and happy stitching.
Loved your flosstube! Excited for the next one. Beautiful, beautiful stitching. I have been stitching for 2 years. Love smalls and holidays ornaments. I also quilt small and lot of walls hangings and runners. See you next time. Happy stitching!
We are definitely sisters from another mister….lol. You and I sound just alike. I did Paula Vaughn and the Leisure Arts, etc…. You are right things have come a long way!
I came across your flosstube & knew I had to subscribe right away...we have the same tastes in stitching...I love everything you shared...all about your stitchy journey & about your stitchy plans. I have been stitching since 1989...not as much when my kiddos were small but not that they are all grown & out on their own I am on a roll. Great video...can't wait to watch the next one! Have a great week!😊
I very much enjoyed your video and am looking for to your next one. Im self taught. My mom, sister and grandmother crochet. I just couldn’t get into that. I’ve probably been stitching on and off over 30 years.
Great first video! My mom was born in Ripley, and I still have family there. In the 1990’s my cousins and I would take road trips to the East Aurora area and visit the stitch shops. Sorry to hear there aren’t shops up there now. Looking forward to more videos from you.
Loved your video. I’ve been stitching for 20+ years. We have similar taste in patterns and flosstubers. Also, I’ve been going to the Dollar Tree looking for the same stuff and I live in upstate NY. Can’t wait to watch again. Happy stitching. 1
We are so much alike. Loved your completed pieces! We are planning a move also, but out of state. I'm also working at completing my huge stash of projects!!! Looking forward to watching your progress as I endeavor to move forward with mine!
You were MUCH more relaxed than I was on my first FlossTube, LOL! Your stitching is beautiful. The Mary Kay Ash quote is “Aerodynamically, the bumblebee shouldn’t be able to fly, but doesn’t know it, and so goes on flying anyway”. It’s one of my favorite quotes, so much so that I had it on my helmet when I worked as a flight nurse for San Antonio AirLife, as there aren’t a whole lot of ‘fluffy’ flight nurses. Like you, I’ve been stitching since the 70’s-80’s (I’m 10 years older than you) and I remember those Paula Vaughns well! Happy stitching!
Loved your first video! I felt like a nice chat with a stitchy friend. If you are up for a drive Hobby House Needleworks is about an hour outside Buffalo. Definitely worth the trip!
From Lori O Medina Ohio - This is certainly great for your first video. I subscribed. You have stitched many of the same designers as I have - I am 25 yrs older than you; but our experiences are similar - love Paula Vaughan and have done many of her designs for me, my daughters, my sisters etc. I have bread cloths, a couple table cloths, runners, lots of finger-tip towels, sweatshirts and so forth. To think of the advancements, varieties of fabric, threads, frames. I am looking forward to watching you regularly!
Great first flosstube! Very nice to meet you …. I love all your WIPs and hope to get some tips from your finishes and maybe learn something new. I’ve been stitching on and off for about 40 years.
Awesome first video! Loved seeing all your projects and getting to know you, can’t wait to see your next video. I’m 46 1/2 and I’ve been stitching on and off for about 35 years.
Such a great first flosstube. Im turning 50 this year too in September, but not as ambitious as you! Love your Dollart tree stuff. I want that tall house for a stitch i just finjshed.Haven't seen that at my Dollartree going to need to search! Thanks for the tag! Let us know your Instagram handle?
I was so happy to see your comment, and glad you found the house at Dollar Tree. I don’t really use Instagram much, but I suppose I should start! I’ll let you know when I have set it up better.
Great first flosstube. We stitch totally different things, but that's what makes this hobby great. I've never stitched a pattern by Stitching with the Housewives. 1.
It is great to see some many different projects. Thanks for stopping by.
Stitch nerds united! I learned at about age 9. I usually get the itch to stitch every 10 years and make a bunch of cute things.
Stitching nerds uniting, indeed! Thanks for stopping by!

Figskater, thanks so much for watching and sharing. Sounds like the perfect set up! I can hope for that someday.

I really enjoyed hearing your background story. It brought back some of my own memories of stitching in the eighties.
I'm so glad! Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks so much for sharing! We're not old, we're vintage. 😉

I think there are still quite a few quilt shops in East Aurora. Thanks so much for watching!
We will have to check out the shops. Thanks!
Hobby house, i think going towards Rochester for you. It's an LNS and also has some quilting stuff too. 😊
I started embroidering about 48 yrs ago at the age of 12. At the 25 I taught myself counted cross stitch with a book from Walmart.
Thanks so much for sharing your stitchy story. Happy Stitching!
I love that you were named for a song. I was named for a book: Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. I had to go find Frank Sinatra's song! That was fun!
Thanks, Rebecca!
Great stuff!
Thanks!

Thank you so much! I am planning on doing a finishing marathon when my Spring Break starts at the beginning of April.I’ll definitely share then.
Nice video, I enjoyed it all.
Thanks so much!
