Any given conservative may have some genuinely held principles and beliefs, but as a whole, conservatives tend to adapt whatever rhetoric and claim whatever standard aids them in their pursuit of power and defense of hierarchy. They do not really care about free speech, but they know claiming they do is a useful justification.

One of the churches I went to actually went to the effort to make actual unleavened honey bread for the “communion wafer”. It was so good. My favorite part of church by far.
