I remember when the announcement of Mad Catz coming back like 2 years ago, shortly after they announced their new product lines which were just all the lineups that actually sold and the R&D came from the old Mad Catz. I just saw the ad for this today on their FB page and once I saw that it was compatible with three of the current consoles, I knew it was just Chinese rebranded garbage at a premium price.
@@Ayyem93 Yes it is, the design isn't an original design, when arcade sticks claim to be compatible with other consoles, they shouldn't need to have a controller plugged into it. They're just using their old reputation for new garbage. No one should be charging $200+ for a rebadged item that doesn't do it's job out of the box. Brook Accessories is different, they products works and they're very honest and responsive. I know this because I bought 8 PS3/PS4 PCBs for my custom arcade cabinets and a couple more for my own stics.
@@sentakuselect I'm not sure what you're trying to get across because I agree this stick is bad What I'm saying is just because it's Chinese doesn't mean it's trash, as Brook is a Chinese company and makes great products from everything I've heard, and I own a Brook ufb as well as both versions of the PS4 to Dreamcast adapters
As long as it's working I don't see why this isn´t a good choice for an average gamer who has at least two of the three gaming systems. A mayflash needs to be modded and the other arcade sticks you mentioned are usually over 200 usd the one with Sanwa parts, plus you need an extra pcb board so it will most likely cost at around 100 usd or more then the Ego/Gamesir to get them to the same sales group. That struggle you had could happen even with a dual shock so it seems you´re missing the point with this stick unless they really are breaking apart/faulty which I can't find in this review.
Man, I definitely casually snagged one of these for guests to use just because I had some overtime cash lying around, and I knew right from the get-go that it was pretty suspect with how the thing was missing inputs on the joystick constantly or 'overshooting' my inputs to 7 and 9 all the time. Too bad I didn't see this sooner. Should've gone with my gut for a RapV or 4.
Ok, maybe it is not as easy to open as other brands/models. And only for console players, you need to plug-in an official controller. But it has Senwa parts and it is as heavy as it is needed for table players or people that can actually feel confortable with that. It is also easy to add your own skin. I wouldn't say "Do not buy the Mad Catz EGO Stick". In my opinion I would just say that for a stick that has to be plugged into a console's controller to be "compatible", it is overpriced. But I don't think it is a bad stik. Just overpriced for being a mere clone that, as you said (and I completely agree), is using Mad Catz branding to make you feel it is the best one in market. Unfortunately in my country it is difficult to buy Qanba or Razer sticks, also you need patience to buy parts like the Brook's Universal Fighting Board, as they will take lots of shipping take time. This is quite a good option in these situations. But I understand you, for the price, it is really upsetting for console gaming. I hope I did understand correctly your review.
Awww man i bought 5 sticks because of you... And i said i wonder if you doing your thing still... Its good to see you Fam.. I hope ps5 comes with something and ill be looking for your review

Although, Mayflash and Brook are better known internationally, Gamesir is a well respected brand in China for gaming accessories. I use a Gamesir wired controller for my PS3, and I am currently using Gamesir VX AIMBOX for using keyboard & mouse on my Nintendo Switch, PS4, and XSX. By the way, always remember to update the firmware of any gaming hardware after unboxing it.
Honestly even if thr stick did not come with Sanwa Buttons or lever you can still buy them separately it is not that they cost a lot!! Plus why everything has to be Sanwa? I know professionals that don't use sanwa and are top gamers in fighting games..
Sanwa is ridiculously overrated. A short throw Sanwa stick is a great choice... On paper... For MANY, FIGHTING games. But, in practice, for ALL fighting games, not to mention platformers and shooters, a Seimitsu, Crown or IL (if it's your thing) solution feels infinitely better. They just have the highest market share because a few high profile machines use the parts, they've been around a while, and that name recognition alone sells people because it means "hey, it's not cheap Hori or Unbranded crap!"
Not to put you down the selling point is supposed to be able to play with one quality stick on several different consoles. I would like for you to do a multi system stick comparison.
This stick should be $100 at most like the Mayflash F500 Elite. I will say it's a nice looking case & has easy to change artwork. But I'm not a big fan of the control panel buttons. However it sucks that you need to plug in a controller
I didn't find this review until after I ordered this fight stick and man do I wish I would have found it before. Thank goodness for Amazons good return policy. I tried syncing it with a PS4 controller at least a hundred times, and it only worked twice and only in the PS menu screen which it unsync'd after selecting a game both times. Firmware updates didn't work either. If you are only going to use it for PC and you find it for really cheap then I may say it's okay but only for like $60 or cheaper. You would be better off getting a Mayflash or something. Before I sent it back I took the thing apart to see how well it could be modded and if I could stick a Brook board in it, and it surprisingly has room for it, but the problem seems like it would be trying to get the top buttons (turbo, options, etc.) to work with the Brook setup. I haven't seen anyone try to mod one on RUclips, but hopefully someone will because the case is quite nice and large.
So I had the Dragon Slay and tried to change the Face plate, checked the buttons (indeed Sanwa Denshi parts) and what I saw there was leaving me speechless. I know some of these Quick Connector Cramps can be tough to change but I had proper connection pliers for fine electrics and they had been a struggle. Mine where completely dented (not like they usually are down the center but horizontally, huge indents like someone tried to rip this out with a wire cutter) and one of the quick connects wasn't dented at all but looked like it was soldered on for some reason. (It wasn't solder, at least it didn't melt on my heating mat but looked like what you'd get if you did that). Needless to say, that one broke my Sanwa button while trying to remove it. Insta return and now I bought a Hori Fighting Edge, maybe that one fairs better, given my extremely limited choice of Pads I can buy off off my amazon.
from the start the lad hated everything about mad catz and GameSir. I like the way the lad almost throws up in his mouth just speaking about the subject. Hilarious
Thank you Hurtbox for your stick vids I've been a subscriber for 1.5 years now. I just purchased my 6th stick the Qanba dragon! Cheers friend. Also qanba obsidian/pearl over this all the way I have both. My favorite daily driver by far.
i always remember catz was the worst of the 3rd party controllers especially back when the ps2 and xbox were the main consoles and even before that. Pelican was better for 3rd party stuff. Mad catz was basically going out of business when they made the first sf4 stick and it was total trash and didn't even have sanwa parts, it being the only console stick saved it. The TE was much better but even right before the TE2 came out the filed for bankruptcy. I can't remember who bought them and saved them but looks like they are back to their old ways
Hey, I agree with you that at $180 that is too expensive. I can get one of those in my country for 110€ ($120?) shipped (Amazon has them). Would that be a good deal? Also, for the same price I can get Mayflash F500 with Sanwa parts (it's the Elite variation). The F500 has a little dongle (Magic Boots) you can plug instead of the PS4 controller. I found a used one under $10. What would you think of that setup for my first stick? I really like the all-metal case of the Mayflash although the color is still ugly AF.
I think the Panthera Evo is the best thing you could get, it's not much more than others but the quality is far superior. That was my first stick about six months ago and I absolutely love it.
@@AkodoDidakku When they go on sale they're $130 usually, which mine was when I got it. Definitely worth it, keep an eye out on GameStop's website and other places
The mayflash sticks are nice because of the fact they're moddable. but that'll cost more money to do. If you are in the budget of 100-180 USD then look into the Qanba Crystal, Hori RAP's like the HORI Real Arcade Pro N Hayabusa are generally like 160 ish. If you are thinking of saving up just a bit more then I would suggest either a Qanba Obsidian, Pearl, or the Razer Panthera.
In Canada they sell this for 250 Canadian dollars, huge rip off. Its basically a Mayflash with sanwa parts, which should sell for about 130-150 Canadian dollars. They think they can almost double the value by putting a Mad Catz logo on it.
People have really unrealistic ideas about pricing. Go buy 12 Sanwa push buttons and a joystick and then come back and tell me what it cost. It’s gonna cost $70 USD just to get the stick and the buttons by themselves.
@@ReallyBigBadAndy76 Sure and they are picking out the exact style they want in non-bulk quantity. Add a plastic case for 90 and a pcb for 50 and you have a fully customized build for a lower cost than a stock stick that doesnt work without a tether controller.
I would avoid most of the arcade sticks that require you to plug in a controller into them and stick with the ones that do not require you to plug in a controller into them.
outside of the like 4 years they made good fight sticks, madcatz has ALWAYS been the bargain bin trash alternative to traditional hardware, this should surprise zero people that a chinese owned company cut corners lol
For $180 and having to deal with that? No thanks, I rather get the MayFlash F500 which basically is this, but better because is the same but cheaper, a lot cheaper, is a slight upgrade from the F300 for a more "aesthetical" thing like adding art, hell, there is now the "Premium" one with Sanwa parts. For $180, I made MY OWN stick, and with a couple of things and more money, I ended up adding a Brook UFB and I don't have to deal with that method of connecting controllers, buying a PS2 adapters lets me use my PS2 again even. This thing is not worth, especially with that dodgy marketing and way to trying to sell something cheaply made, but, what else could you expect from China... lol
That's just pathetic. For a 150$+ to require a gamepad to be plugged in is laughable, especially from a company that made quality fightsticks in the past. Most people don't even need the "compatibility" aspect- a PS3/4 TE2 works on Steam no problem; all X360 sticks work on Windows without any emulator. Just buy an old MC stick for a fraction of the price of an Atrox/Panthera.
This stick doesn't interest me anyways, Madcatz branded or not. On top of that, I'm more familiar with Madcatz being synonymous with crappy prephreals. Madcatz was stinking it up when the Dreamcast was around. I made the mistake of buying a 6 button Dreamcast controller, and one of their craptastic rumble motors. Ever since then I avoided Madcatz like the plague. It was always odd that Madcatz was highly regarded for fightstick. But it's kind of funny that they couldn't capitalize on that success and keep the company afloat. This new Madcatz is back to less than trustworthy and to be avoided.
The problem was that madcatz made a bad deal with Rockband 4. 11 million really hurt them financially, they laid off a bunch of staff in 2016, and then in early 2017 they had to declare chapter 7.
Lmao I just got the game sir as a gift 🎁 ..i assume I had gold till I saw your victrix & order the version 2..just got in the mail this morning & can't wait to mood it some day ...keeping the game sir and replay the main board with a brook universal some day ...
The sparkfox is infinitely better. Don't worry about it. People are just angry that mad catz aren't making their old sticks these sticks are good bro. Custom artwork, full sanwa, and relative cross platform which isn't that bad
No matter what freakin fightstick comes out anyway hardly any seem to be compatible with Street Fighter 4 on PC.. never lets you button configure and shorts and medium buttons are ALWAYS switched... sigh.
im looking to buy a new fight stick. My brook adapter just keeps giving me a "too many usb" error now and im not sure why. I've initialized and event initialized software so I've ruled out that it is corrupted files. I have two ps4's a regular and a pro and both do this. I have aa ps3 SF4 TE stick and want something of that quality or better. What would you recommend?
Glad I found this, I will start by saying I didn’t by the mad Catz a friend did and then gave it to me. He didn’t even use it so it’s like new. But even when plugged into a controller mine does not seem to work with my ps4. It works fine plugged into my pc but my locals do console only 🙃
Why put a thumbnail with the Madcatz stick and review a different Stick... I don't get it... You should have compared them together instead of bashing the EGO stick (which I own and plays great) instead of saying things about it without even having it...
Honestly, it is a pretty cheap cash grab but I bought the stick myself. It's not a bad stick for an at-home stick. After a while of playing, you kind of forget that the controller is there. Personally it isn't that bad BUT I'm not taking this stick anywhere for obvious reasons. I think for a stick that you want to travel with, I definitely recommend any Qanba sticks which most of them are in the same price range as the EGO.
Fam i got the gamesir for like 50 bucks that's a decent deal cuz i only play on pc so i just plug and play however if it cost 180 buck that would be a complete different story
Damn I’ve had my tes+ since like 2016 and it’s been amazing, I was looking to get a new stick and I assumed mad catz would be the easy go to but ig not. Anyone have any better suggestions?
Razer has some good options with the Panthera/Atrox and Qanba is good with the Obsidian (or dragon if you're looking to spend for a premium stick). I personally use the Victrix Pro FX and its amazing with the features it has included (detatchable sanwa stick, easy modding capabilities, aircraft aluminum, supposedly the quickest legal response time etc.) I hope this helps!
Qanba Pearl. It’s the epitome of reliability and the layout is a bit better than the obsidian. And it’s $200, so it’s pretty mid level in terms of arcade stick pricing.
dragon slay to be honest with you. if you watch this video carefully, you'll see that it is a very good stick (good internals, thought through construction, easy to mod) that additionally will work with most consoles with no input lag.
Quick question: What is "Legacy Controller"? Are they better or worse than non-Legacy Controllers (or whatever the opposite counterpart is called). Also what's Legacy Mode?
Legacy controllers are controllers that were made for previous gen systems (like ps3 and 360). Some games let you use them by building in a "legacy mode" in the game. Not all games have that feature however
Hi Can anyone help I’m from Australia Know idea where to look I like the style of that one But sounds like it sucks Never used stick , never bought one I’m not sure where to look or what to do I mainly play on Tekken But I would sacrifice look for a better stick I would like to inlay artwork at some-point though Any advice would be great
@@carlyg1969 Panthera's superb. At least the stick that you want to buy uses premium parts. Hayabusha or sanwa. The mid range fightstick already covers that. The high end went the extra mile, such as heavier and sturdier chasis, more feature like touchpad, headset jack etc. But they will still use sanwa or hayabusha.

I'm gona watch this a few time so you can try and get some money back
LMAO x]
I remember when the announcement of Mad Catz coming back like 2 years ago, shortly after they announced their new product lines which were just all the lineups that actually sold and the R&D came from the old Mad Catz. I just saw the ad for this today on their FB page and once I saw that it was compatible with three of the current consoles, I knew it was just Chinese rebranded garbage at a premium price.
That shouldn't be indictive of garbage though, the Brook ufb is compatible with tons of consoles and it's great.
@@sentakuselect I'm not sure what you're trying to get across because I agree this stick is bad
What I'm saying is just because it's Chinese doesn't mean it's trash, as Brook is a Chinese company and makes great products from everything I've heard, and I own a Brook ufb as well as both versions of the PS4 to Dreamcast adapters
@@Ayyem93 CORRECTION
Brook is Taiwanese. Very big difference
@@KetsubanSolo This was important enough to reply to a comment left a year ago when I said brook makes good products from the beginning?
Lmao "somewhere in China"
Lol u played good tekken music for this crap smh
@@omen2034I know this comment is hella old, but can you please tell me what song he is using in the first half of the video. It is killing me that it sounds so familiar but I can't place it.
Don't you worry, people should be just waiting for qanba to release the Qanba Pearl
Please i need help i have to choose madcatz evo or mayflash f500 elite with same price whitch one is better?🃏
Appreciate all the hard work!
Hilarious
Next video: modded mad cats arcade controller with sanjuk v5 and crown buttons
Give me an idea
We can only buy Sanjuk v5 in Japan or Korea right?
@@TheRomi18 you have to speak to a guy who makes them or Matt from Ettoki
Sanjuk is making the V6 and the V5c versions. If I remember correctly Buttercade and Jaiken Arcade was doing group buys a couple weeks ago.
the kind of content I subbed for
Replace the pcb with a Brook pcb and done!!
LOL I found the same stick on Taobao for $70 usd
That stick is $100 on ebay now
Thank you Hurtbox for your stick vids I've been a subscriber for 1.5 years now. I just purchased my 6th stick the Qanba dragon! Cheers friend.
Also qanba obsidian/pearl over this all the way I have both. My favorite daily driver by far.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I saved $60 thanks to you.
The gamesir c2 is 40usd directly from china.
In saying that I got one and its not bad for the price.
i always remember catz was the worst of the 3rd party controllers especially back when the ps2 and xbox were the main consoles and even before that.
I got one of the variants of this for 990 Rands(69 dollars) , a steal actually I think in my country a mayflash f300 cost 1500 rand (105 dollars)
ttt1 soundstrack is soo good
Hey, I agree with you that at $180 that is too expensive.
@@Ayyem93 thanks for the reply! The Panthera EVO looks awesome, but unfortunately it is out of my budget for the moment.
Here gamesir price is like $90
I would avoid most of the arcade sticks that require you to plug in a controller into them and stick with the ones that do not require you to plug in a controller into them.
Yea. It's too much of a hassle.
@@RyzingSol It's like plugging a Wii or Wii U arcade stick into a Wii Remote/Wii Remote Plus.
So weird, in my country this just cost about 120 USD. But then again, this is disappointing coming from mad catz
outside of the like 4 years they made good fight sticks, madcatz has ALWAYS been the bargain bin trash alternative to traditional hardware, this should surprise zero people that a chinese owned company cut corners lol
They used to do a good job in the mouse and keyboard department. Really liked the RAT 7, got one in 2010 and that thing was phenomenal.
@@Assenayo admittedly, I had my logitech g9x from 08-12, so i missed that product line, but i lament the loss of g9x regularly
So if I play on PC and switch, theres really nothing wrong with the gamesir is there?
What exact sanwa lever is in it? Thanks
Just buy an old MC stick for a fraction of the price of an Atrox/Panthera.
came here cause read Mat Catz releasing new fighsticks, saw this in one of their recent pics... this is WEIRD
Which one is the best? I need an arcade stick with microswitches
just ordered my Gamesir C2 today for 89 bucks
Thank man just bought one this fucking didn’t work. Thank for the heads up
Have a Brand New Never Opened Sealed Madcatz TE2+ STV Tournament Edition Ryo for sale

Lmao I just got the game sir as a gift 🎁 ..i assume I had gold till I saw your victrix & order the version 2..just got in the mail this morning & can't wait to mood it some day ...keeping the game sir and replay the main board with a brook universal some day ...

dam im really stuck between a similar stick called sparkfox arcade universal which is on sale at 60usd and the 8bitdo stick at 75usd
The sparkfox is infinitely better. Don't worry about it. People are just angry that mad catz aren't making their old sticks these sticks are good bro. Custom artwork, full sanwa, and relative cross platform which isn't that bad
why didnt they just continued making TE2+ models ???
Mayflash F500 is better than this. And cheaper.
Nanco daija for 90 euro in italy
Wish I could play X-men vs street fighter on a universal arcade stick.
No so bad if all I got to do is plug it into a controller
No matter what freakin fightstick comes out anyway hardly any seem to be compatible with Street Fighter 4 on PC.. never lets you button configure and shorts and medium buttons are ALWAYS switched... sigh.
im looking to buy a new fight stick. My brook adapter just keeps giving me a "too many usb" error now and im not sure why. I've initialized and event initialized software so I've ruled out that it is corrupted files. I have two ps4's a regular and a pro and both do this. I have aa ps3 SF4 TE stick and want something of that quality or better. What would you recommend?
I bought a mayflash excited to buy a stick I was so salty when I needed a cable to use it 🤪
Here to watch that shit.
Mad Catz still alive?
I thought they had failed
if someone bought it fore how would I get it to work on the switch bc it dosent work natively
Glad I found this, I will start by saying I didn’t by the mad Catz a friend did and then gave it to me. He didn’t even use it so it’s like new. But even when plugged into a controller mine does not seem to work with my ps4. It works fine plugged into my pc but my locals do console only 🙃
hurm can we mod to the new board?
Why put a thumbnail with the Madcatz stick and review a different Stick... I don't get it...
You should have compared them together instead of bashing the EGO stick (which I own and plays great) instead of saying things about it without even having it...
I just got this stick as a gift .. i love it so far so good. Got it connected and kicking ass on tekken now lol
The EGO stick and this one are literally the same, made by the same company, identical parts and design. Only difference is a couple decals
Just bought me a EGO I love it bro it's got faster response time then the crystal thanks bro
My friend let me borrow his to try on MK on my xbox and the fucking thing doesn't even work
he picks up on ps4
TE3 or GTFO.
And it’s $200, so it’s pretty mid level in terms of arcade stick pricing.
any good arcade stick suggestion ? i want to play kof on pc
dragon slay to be honest with you. if you watch this video carefully, you'll see that it is a very good stick (good internals, thought through construction, easy to mod) that additionally will work with most consoles with no input lag.
Anyone recommend an arcade stick for an xbox console?
This click bait its not even the madcatz lmfao
Way to miss the point.

Quick question: What is "Legacy Controller"? Are they better or worse than non-Legacy Controllers (or whatever the opposite counterpart is called). Also what's Legacy Mode?
I think they’re referring to the godly fightsticks they used to make
Legacy controllers are controllers that were made for previous gen systems (like ps3 and 360). Some games let you use them by building in a "legacy mode" in the game. Not all games have that feature however
Connecting the controller for legacy controls might be a good idea.
dont want controllers attached? used magicboots problem solved
Es compatible al 100% con PS3 ???
Is there any arcade stick coming for PS5?

Official playstation 4 sticks will work for the ps5, so the playstation venom arcade is a great budget stick that will work for ps3,4 and 5

Razor Panthera
They any good ?
And I know you can’t change the artwork on this stick
@@carlyg1969 Panthera's superb.
At least the stick that you want to buy uses premium parts. Hayabusha or sanwa. The mid range fightstick already covers that.
The high end went the extra mile, such as heavier and sturdier chasis, more feature like touchpad, headset jack etc. But they will still use sanwa or hayabusha.
@Loris Tajiba
Thanks for the reply I appreciate it
Ok that’s great to hear maybe for Christmas :) If anyone wants to get me anything they can get me this

They need to bring Mark back
Last I heard he went over to work for Victrix and their line of arcade sticks. As for this video and the subject matter, it caught me by surprise. I was starting to think these Madcatz "sticks" weren't being produced due to backlash, so it's interesting they're still peddling these knockoffs. Sad to see.
