    What's texting now was considered Verizon's own version of AOL's instant messenger (IM) back then.
    It wasn't declared texting until sometime in '06.

    Nothing like using the good ole brick that cost a fortune to make one call. Or the car phones that plugged into the lighter outlet and was static as hell (and also cost a fortune to use).

    My first cell phone in 7th grade was the Motorola V120, can you believe they charged 10 cents a text?? :o

      +loreleivixen . . . I remember once texting with T-mobile where one text message costed .25 cents or less but there was 3 or 4 dollar tax on it. ricidulous.

    James earl jones seemed to have stopped doing the verizon commericals somewhere down the road after verizon launched their cell phone service. I wonder why?. I hear he is doing a commerical for Sprint PCS. Verizon is his company not Sprint. lol. No, James earl jones doesnt actually own Verizon or sprint. Just saying.
