The minor key of the music makes it hit differently too - it almost conveys a desperation and longing that just hits the soul like a ton of bricks. If my ears aren't failing me, I think Marvin's original song was in Dmaj, but this song is B minor (relative musical keys that have the same key signature, but a different order).

You're standing on the shoulders of giants here Bill, and yet you've somehow created something *more* than the sum of these mighty parts. An absolutely monumental track.
Bill teaches us how all forms of music are deeply connected. He is a true master of synthesizing something new from something that already exists. He deserves our thanks and admiration.
All forms of modern Western popular music, you mean? Metal and soul are really just two branches of the same tree with its roots in early blues music. Now I wouldn't be surprised at all if Bill sometimes mashed together traditional Chinese music and, say, Sami yoik, but so far he has only played around with Western popular music with their roots in Blues, and those roots really aren't even that deep yet. Go back 100 years, and pretty much all you had was blues and jazz. One should understand that what we in the West perceive as "music" is really just a tiny, tiny slice of what music actually is worldwide.
Their first album was solid. After that they became industry whores and sold out to the mainstream dribble. Same thing happened to Metallica. Anything after and justice for all is mainstream trash. \m/
Whenever you cut to the singer of FFDP he looks like he's waiting for his part to come in and is getting increasingly upset that Marvin just keeps singing over him.
What the hell!? Why is this not huge? This is probably one of the best ones that mentally disturbed but brilliant Bill McLintock has mashed yet! It sounds "factory"!

What a national, actually no, global treasure Bill McClintock is, good lord. Five finger death punch passed me by, never got into them, I was blown away at how much I loved the composition of this song, so went and listened to the original track, and had that been my first impression of the song I would have thought, the instrumentation is great but the vocals are sub par and would have never gave it a second thought. That’s why bill is such a genius, hearing Marvin’s incredible vocals over this and how well it fits with the music, I was paying so much attention to the composition and I was astounded at how much I loved it. Great riffs, FANTASTIC drumming throughout the song, the drumming was the biggest highlight for me, I don’t know if I’ll ever give Five Finger Death Punch a fair shot but thoroughly impressed but the composition of this song, and had I just heard the original song I would’ve been too distracted but the vocals to really pay attention to it.
