Looks like Old Man Winter is slowly leaving Lost Canyon. It's a quiet time of year, and perfect for a hiking and day camp adventure. Loved all rhe scenery shots. Looks like you and ol' Tig had a good day. Your camp cooking has me thinking about lunch...and i just finished breakfast! Thanks for sharing another trip into the Okanagan Highlands! 👍
Howdy, Pine. Yeah, winter is slowly fading. This is a good time of year to visit Lost Canyon, since it is full of rattlesnakes during the summer. It doesn't get much traffic, as you can tell. I took an old historic trail, which is only shown on the oldest maps -- but it soon faded into the chaos of the wildfire zone. It has really changed since I was there two years ago. One benefit: there were plenty of dry twigs for the campfire!
That was a pretty good looking meal there Kevin. Now you’re just showing off with your one handed egg cracking skills. lol ! Those chairs are perfect for giving us old guys a little back support. Look at ol’ Tig’s tail go …what a good pup. Thanks for taking us along , glad to see you getting more active on here, inspiring me to get out but we got another late winter storm coming tonight and another 4-6” but it won’t last long. Take care my friend.
Howdy, Don. Glad to have you along. Lucky you, with an approaching snow storm. The ground is pretty much bare here, and I want to sled into Skull Camp. Not much winter this year! Hope you are having a great weekend, my friend!
What a very nice video of your outing at Lost Canyon. Looks to be a very nice place to get out in. The food looked good and made me hungry, g! Also loved your canine companion looking at you when you were both in your tarp shelter. Put a smile on my face. Thanks again for sharing this with us ...
Glad you enjoyed PA. If you would have been in camp, Tig would have shared some of that grub. She's a real expressive pup, always pushing my buttons to see how many biscuits I have in my pocket. She makes me laugh all the time. Thanks for watching, my friend!
Another beautifully captured excursion. Enjoyed every bit of it - scenery, feather sticks, old Marbles match safe, the 102 prepping a meal I'm for sure going to have to try with my bro-in-law's Bonaparte Bear sausage, cooked on a perfect bed of coals... Tig looking happy, and just enough Winter hanging on to make it an adventure. Thanks for sharing.
Howdy! Well I tried making feather sticks with that 102, and soon grabbed my mora 106. The grind on the Buck needs some work, if it is to whittle. I still like it best for field dressing, but it works in the camp kitchen, too. Glad you recognized the Marble's Safe. My dad gave me that in 1970, and it has always been full of Ohio Blue Tips until recently. I was really kind of shocked the Diamond brand matches came through! Blessings, my friend. Have a great weekend!
Hey Kevin! You know that canyon did seem to have a different feel to it than the other spots you’ve shared with us. Felt a little lonesome just like you said. Meal looked absolutely perfect! Man it’s great to have you back my friend and we sure do enjoy tagging along with you and Tig in that beautiful county up there. Thanks!
Howdy Shane! Yeah, that forest in there has really died out. I was happy to see a profusion of new tree seedlings popping through the snow, which gives me a lot of hope. Nature sure has a way of burning and healing. The canyon has a north exposure, so it's fairly dark in there, and steep. Tall, lonesome country. Thank you for welcoming me back. I have some cool ideas for upcoming vids, and really enjoy it. Appreciate you kindness and encouragement, as always!
Hi Vicki. I started my hike near Montanya Ranch by the bridge. There is an old historic trail there, which fades out quickly. The widlfire really took its toll on the entire valley, but I saw many healthy tree seedlings bolting forth. It gave me a feeling of hope.
Another Great Video Kevin and Thank You! I like how you did your fire stick and plan to give that a try. Looks controlled and productive whereas what I'm doing now just doesn't work. Thank you again and looking forward to more!!
Greetings, Dave. That sounds like a good video topic. I've struggled with feather sticks for years, and finally started using some spoon carving grips to make them. If you brace on your chest, be sure to keep the tip pointed in the opposite direction. The angle of the blade will also help slice the fibers. Straight grain wood. I had a pc. of curly pine there, and it wasn't cooperating! A leather glove against your ribs helps too. Happy trails!
I really enjoyed the video! The Baker tent caught my eye. We own a Baker/Campfire tent. Glad I clicked on the video. New sub here! Thanks & take care! 👍
Thank you for watching, Kettle Camping. The tarp tent setup proved to be comfortable on this chilly windy day. I will remember it in the future. Thanks for the sub. I've followed you guys for a while, and the food always looks better over there! Cheers!
Thanks the trick os to add fat and salt 😊 my mistake we were already a sub my wife did it while back. The tent has longer side panels and a canopy which allows many configurations good for canoe camping. Like Bill Mason used to do. Thanks again!
I had a second cousin that was raised with his brother and four sisters along with his parents and his grandmother in a one room cabin on the North, South Carolina line. He lived in the woods of Appalachia all his 76 years. When he went camping he always had a pot, frying pan, bag of corn meal, a 44 pistol (heavy sucker) and a pint of charcoal lighter. I was on a trip with him overnight and I asked why the charcoal lighter? Wayne he said, I have been in these woods when everything was wet. Yes, I can start a fire with a quarts rock, but when I am cold and wet I don't want to take all day for a fire. You can be dumb proving how good you are in nature. If You went with him you had to eat what you could find. You couldn't even bring a tater only corn meal. Had a meal one night of blackberry leaves, milk weed and poke weed.
@@WestForkWoodsmanHe was afraid of people for some reason. He was a supervisor in a textile mill wore boots everyday with a 4 barrel pistol in the boots at all times.
Happy to hear that, Bushpony. Thanks for watching. I bought that chair 35 years ago from Campmor, but they don't make that brand anymore. If you search the web for Thermarest chairs, there will be a lot of very similar options. Also there are the Crazy Creek chairs that have built-in padding, not requiring a ground pad. I really like this old chair for kicking back in camp, or saving my back while canoeing. Happy trails!
You can't beat sausage & sauerkraut! That chair is 35 years old & they don't make that brand. Search for Thermarest chairs, which they still have options. It's designed to be used with an inflatable sleeping pad, and it real comfortable. Another option is Crazy Creek chairs. Happy trails!
Hahaha! That doesn't surprise me at all. You will notice Tig won't participate in the videos, unless there is at least one hot meal, plus snacks. She is methodically taking over the channel! :)
Paradise to me.
Another great trip! Thanks!!
This was a really nice a relaxing video to watch. Great job!

Nicely done, THANKS ! ...Alan 🇨🇱
Found your channel from your BCUSA post... good stuff brother. Love your pup! Naturally I've subscribed. God bless.
Welcome, DevilDog. Thanks for the sub. Every time I take Tig with me, she steals the show, and some of the grub. Oh well!
Awesome video. Well done!
Another great trip, another great video. Blessings.
Thank you, my friend. Glad you enjoyed it. Have a great weekend!
A cool video, thank for sharing.
Good dog

By coincidence, I had Blue Highway playing in the background while I watched your video. Fit perfectly! Hugs! Thank you for sharing.

Lovely video with just the right amount of dialogue. Also very handy recipe which I will try, thanks! (Tim from New Zealand)
Greetings, Tim. Thanks for coming along. That recipe was easy to cook in the outdoors. Enjoy!
Just found your channel. Thanks for the video. It's good to see other people my age out and about. Thanks and keep on keeping on.👍
Thanks for watching Badmoon. I'm trying to get younger. Just give me some time!
Nice tarp configuration. Thanks for Sharing
Just found your channel awesome food looked great .Beautiful puppy .Subbed and liked.
When I seen you make that food I was hooked and I subscribed. This was my 2nd video I have ever seen of yours.
The food always tastes better in the great outdoors! Thanks for watching!
A big ( HOWDY ) to you friend from the mountains of KENTUCKY ...
A big howdy to y'all down in bluegrass country!

Thanks for sharing another video, Kevin! It looked a bit barren where you were at, but serene nevertheless! You two make a great team!
Hey Evan, thanks for tuning in. Tig is always a team player when there's a good meal in the works!
Those boulders remind me of Washington state erratics and glacial leftovers.
I really enjoyed the video! The Baker tent caught my eye. We own a Baker/Campfire tent. Glad I clicked on the video. New sub here! Thanks & take care! 👍

Great story, HWM. That's a way of life for them old hillbillies. He sounds pretty smart, and won't go hungry with that .44 handy!
@@WestForkWoodsmanHe was afraid of people for some reason. He was a supervisor in a textile mill wore boots everyday with a 4 barrel pistol in the boots at all times.
Really enjoyed your video, and definitely going to check out that meal! Q - what are you using for the seat and where can I get one?

after watching this, i went and made a fire in my backyard while i cooked up some chicken curry and rice in my kitchen
Now you're making me hungry! Haha!
Tienes que dar de comer al perro, no deves comer solo. El perro es el mejor amigo del hombre.
¡El perro come como un monstruo! ¡Pero ella es una gran compañera en el camino! Gracias por ver. 😃
I come to realize, I watch these to see your dog, not you.
