I remember back in the 90's skipping school to go fishing up the reservoir in the moors behind the village where I lived. It was sunny, it was hot and it was quiet. Then a noise. A thruppapapapapa. It was quiet and distant sounding. Then outta fucking nowhere this gazel pops up, rotors only a few feet above the ground, turning hard. An then the was gone. And back to silence. This all happened in the space of about 15 seconds. Left an impression that's for sure.
