Another way to stop ants is to put vaseline around the end or top of the place where it connects to to the roof or floor, OR Put the 4 legs into cans filled 1/2 way w oil( used car oil works fine!)
But LOVE your hanging system! Thanks!

Definitely using the unistrut idea. But to avoid manure build-up. I think a better choice would to fasten the cage from above to the unistrut instead of below. That way the only below the cage is the catch pan.

Excellent idea! I’m going to mimic a version of your setup.

When I build my rabbit hutches, I set the legs in cans of motor oil. Will definitely keep the ants away. They can still crawl down your hanging support.

How about a follow up video on how this held up and what would you do different? We did hanging cages with chains and fastened at the top on hooks. Everything drops on the ground for easy raking. I have heard the metal will rust with the urine. I put plastic down spouts around my 4x4 posts next to the cages.

I built a greenhouse from unistrut! It's great stuff. Check it out.

It may have been better to flip the strut channel so that the slot side is up and the holes are down on the cage supports. This way urine and feces do no get caught up in the rolled up edge on the slot side and a little easier to flush out with the hose. Other than that great job.

Agreed, could have went that route for sure. Either way, the hose cleans it quick.

Nicely done. With that metal support tube piece under each cage do you find the rabbits poop and pee on it? I have 2x4 supports under the cages and there FAVORITE spot in the corner just covers my 2x4. Also you may want to plug the openings that run along the metal brace. If you ever get mites that would be one place they could fall into although not likely. Figured you were down south. I was going to say no way to stop the snow or freezing wind other wise lolol. God Bless! Maybe for the political climate this winter you will want a few meat rabbits just case things get crazy and destroyed. Decent amount of meat per meat rabbit in about 2 months.

Probably about $500 with the cages. They were from #RuralKing

Dude you spent a fortune on rabbit cages and they don't even properly funnel the piss and poo, What are you paying for that unistrut in 2022 I'm guessing minimum 30 bucks a length the all thread 15, and custom pans? Who wants the stink around the cage, plus it invites bugs and predators. If prob get a little more life exp before suggesting bad ideas to people, just a suggestion
