    As no 5V 1.5A power supply is enclosed in the original flight yoke package, you can not use the system. In denmark we use power supplies with round "legs" opposed to UK and USA where square legs are used. I have not been able to find/purchase an adapter/power supply, which fit into the yoke. Is the necessary power supply available at all outside the UK and USA, in which case the flight yoke with accessories are totally useless in most of Europe, or is it just me who is wrong. Any suggestions or help pls as to solve my problem with the power supply??? Morten

      I am guessing that the 5v PS is not necessary because yoke gets it power from the USB connection, provided that your PC has a hefty PS. But I am not sure what power requirement the yoke must have, and whether its requirement exceeds the USB ability in your particular PC to supply. Now if you're doing the BU0836 modification, you should use the external 5v PS, just to be sure. The 5v connection provided in the yoke housing is for the case you use add't USB devices that plug into the yoke. In other words, the external PS is only necessary when the yoke also functions as a USB hub. Another way to look at this is that a mfgr is unlikely to ship product without an AC adapter if it's truly necessary for that product to work.

    Good, honest review. I'm sold on this yoke system now knowing the dead zone issue can be fixed. You should consider upgrading to a bigger monitor if you want even better immersion before spending 1k pounds on that top of the line yoke you mentioned getting some day. I upgraded from a 27 inch to 32 and the difference is stunning.

    I just got mine and I LOVE it. I was flying with a Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS and it was so squirrely it was impossible to do any precision flying. I just made a video where I took off and landed frim the smallest airport in the world. I NEVER could have done that with the Cougar, the precision required would have had me crash. I bought the Yoke, MFD panel, and the switch panel for the cost of the Honeycomb Yoke. I highly recommend it for people who are just getting into Flight Simulator like me.

    I have the Saitek version. Mine has a like a slight "sandy" feel when pushing forward/pulling backward. It has been a great unit - reliable and does the job. Looks like Logitech has fixed it. I've flown real planes and proper airline simulators, admittedly it does feel like a toy in comparison. The price point I'm not complaining. To complete my setup I purchased the Thrustmaster T-Flight pedals separately (on special 1/2 price at $99AUD), I originally wanted to buy the Saitek/Logitech pedals worth $250AUD. Whole setup is 3 years old.

    I recently purchased this yoke, managed to find it in stock and went for it. It's good, it does feel very very cheap and plastic, extremely light to what I thought it would be. But 100% more immersive compared to a joystick. Been using it for a few hours and it's a bit tricky to get used to coming from the joystick.

    Excellent review mate - just bought mine and now waiting for FS2020. Just a point on the dead zone, as someone who has flown quite a few light aircraft, I don't necessarily think that that is a negative or a bad thing. Most 152's and especially the Traumahawk have fairly sloppy controls, especially due to age as rod and cable systems tend to develop some play on them. Do a crosswind landing and you will be moving those controls quite aggressively - if you can get used to that in a sim then that is a big win in my books.

    Sorry for the long winded text below, but if you are a flight simulation pilot and a aviation enthusiast or wanting to make that next step into real world operations, I felt it was important to share my experience, on the flight simulation side of things.
    As a longtime user for the Saitek yoke I got about 3 years of functionality out of it, and then the dead zones and such just where too much to be functional anymore. I gave up on the unit and use my X52 HOTOS System until I finally was able to buy the honeycomb flight yoke recently. Because now I have extended experience with the old Saitek flight yoke and about two weeks in with the honeycomb yoke, if you can afford it, do not waste your time and money on the Saitek yoke system (I do not know how to stress that enough). It is night & day difference between the two, and the extra $85.00 USD you spend on the honeycomb is well worth it and far superior. Yes you do not get a throttle quadrant, but I would go as far as saying using a keyboard if you had too, for throttle operations or by a USB saitek throttle quadrant as you're stepping stone to the honeycomb throttle quadrant that will be out sometime this year (rumor has it, the 25th of May 2020). I'm serious when I say the yoke from a honeycomb is that much better. Yes, your trade off of not having a throttle quadrant out a box, is switches that you get with a honeycomb aircraft start operations along with lighting.
    Now in my case, I kept the old yoke and I'm using the throttle quadrant and disabled all the axises and buttons on the saitek flight yoke. Also I had another throttle quadrant that I bought originally with the saitek yoke system knowing that I would be doing twin engine operation. Over time I bought the rudder pedals which is I'm still using to this day that functions with no issues, and a Saitek Cessna nose trim. I highly recommend after buying honeycomb yoke, the next must have item is rudder pedals. This way you can develop your skills in coordination with your feet along with using the turn coordinator on the dash, as you do in the real aircraft.
    Don't get me wrong, they throttle quadrant is important, but not as important as rudder pedals. I am looking forward with the release of the honeycomb throttle which will give you functions from single piston engine operation, all the way up to four engine jet operations. Along with nose wheel trim, autopilot functions, gear lever and flap operations. Yes you'll be spending $250 USD on this throttle, but it replaces saitek nose wheel trim, most of the functions of the saitek multifunction panel which is autopilot operations. Nose wheel trim was $99.00 USD and multifunction panel was $149 USD new. With a single throttle quadrant from saitek is $99.00 USD. That's roughly $350 USD with the saitek equipment, whereas the throttle quadrant from honeycomb does most of the functions with one unit (and more importantly one USB connection) for $250. Not to mention, the saitek drivers for the multifunction panel (autopilot operations) has not been updated since 2017, and as a X-Plane 10 & currently 11 user, the drivers are not very reliable, from my personal experience.
    So to sum up, buy what ever rudder pedals you wish. Hands down, honeycomb yoke & throttle quadrant are the better way to go and after doing the math are cheaper, For multi engine operation. Cheers to you all and happy flying

    A good review, however, I recently purchased a couple of these yokes and i find it impossible to make small precise pitch shifts around the center detente. Unfortunately this is the most important area of the whole elevator shaft. Flaring for landing is almost impossible. You will try to pull back gently on the yoke to flare but nothing will happen due to the spring detente - you have to pull harder to overcome the resistance and then suddenly the nose will jerk upwards causing a stall . Taking off is similar - when trying to gently rotate - nothing happens due to the resistance - pull harder to overcome the resistance and you have pulled too hard on the stick - stall warning.The settings you have shown in game to adjust sensitivity do help in flight but taking off is difficult and landing is nigh impossible.
    In order to fully use this yoke it is necessary to remove, as minimum, the center detente mechanism and replace with simple rubber bands as show in many RUclips videos. It makes an incredible difference. The dead zone issue does not seems to be as much of a problem now especially in MSFS 2020 - you can cater for it but the sticky detente, in the most important area of the elevator shaft, makes it unusable in its original state in my opinion.

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  3 года назад

      Yes, when using this flight yoke with FS 2020, I hardly notice the detente at all; in fact, I do wonder if they have improved the build quality of these Flight Yoke Systems over the years, as even with FSX (provided you nulled the dead-zone in settings), the 'sticky' centre issue, was hardly noticeable.
      It is however noticeable without any changes to dead-zone or sensitivity settings.

    Great review, thanks! Think you've convinced me, I'm getting back in to X-Plane and want to learn how to fly properly (especially in time for FS2020!), but I'm currently restricted to a (cheap and bad) Xbox controller, so this would be a big upgrade!
    One question - I am thinking of getting the yoke, throttle quadrant and rudder pedal package, and I was wondering if the pedals are worth it? I realise you don't have them, so my question is how is the experience without pedals? Do you feel like they are needed at all? Seeing as they add another £100+ pounds in to the mix and that I'm only a beginner, I'm wondering if I should get them also or just the yoke and throttle. Thanks :)

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  4 года назад +1

      It really depends on your budget - for me, I didn't want to spend a further £100+ on Rudder pedals, but I can see the benefit of having them.
      I use 'Auto Rudder' in my flight sims, which means the yoke can be used to taxi the aircraft on the ground. I don't massively feel I'm missing out by not having physical Rudder pedals :)

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  3 года назад

      Hi Abdul, you simply need to have a PC with a spare USB port to use the Logitech Flight Yoke System.
      This system, in one guise or the other, has been around for many years, so even older PC systems are able to run it effectively - running recent Flight Sims like Flight Simulator 2020 is a different matter; these simulations are very much dependant on the power of the PC they run on (check the required specifications for whichever Flight Simulation program you wish to play).
      Flight Sims like Flight Simulator X, run on lower specification PC systems.
      You do not get a Flight Simulator included with your purchase of the Logitech Flight Yoke System, you have to buy Flight Simulators separately.

      You can see this reflected in the sim when the yoke he’s using deflects only slightly but the 3D cockpit view shows the graphical yoke deflecting much more. I’d guess this was a tradeoff in design to simplify the potentiometer arrangement so it did not have to move over-center. But it is not as realistic. The honeycomb yoke moves more, but still not as much as an aircraft. However, in real aircraft, normally on the ground or at very slow airspeed speed is the only time you will deflect the controls that much.
      Also, all real aircraft have different feel due to control and aerodynamic design choices and this is something you get used to. It is also a reason for transition training from one type to a another.
      So unless you are looking to build muscle memory for a specific real aircraft it is certainly livable for a sim.

    Attention! Literally two hours ago my apartment would have burned down if I wouldn't have been standing right next to the Yoke... I haven't used it that much in the last time... But I've always taken good care of my things, so this didn't happen because of poor handling... I was just installing the new FS2020 and plugged in my Saitek yoke while waiting... Just to see if it worked... I noticed no lights coming on when plugging it in to my USBs... After a minute I started to smell burned cables and felt heat developing inside the case... Immediately unplugged it and opened it up to see if there were flames already... Luckily not...But what I saw was that the electronic cirquit had been drowned in hot glue (I bought it new and it was never opened before) which probably caused heat to stow... I'm gonna send the evidence to Saitek and see what they say... Just for you folks, don't leave the thing plugged in when you are not around. (I have experience in firefighting btw... So I know what burned cable smells like)

      There's something called 737 replica handles for the saitek throttle quadrant (loitech throttles are pretty much the same so they should work).
      I also saw a simple solid knob a while ago; i'll research that further and get back to you.

    Just got this yoke, but it has unreliable USB communication with the computer. (Win10. Ryzen 7 2700. 16Gb RAM. Rx570 video.) After about 50sec of flying, every time, it would no longer comm to the computer. The plane now flies on its own. LOL. Loaded the latest 64bit driver from logitech website (Aug ? version 8.0.213). I tried everything I can think of, uninstall and install, etc. Still behaves with the same disconnection about a min into the flight. Notice others having the same problem according to their posts. Some even suggested to do RegEdit. Nothing worked. Anyone had the same problem with a working remedy ???
    I think the communication somehow timed out. Sometimes the screen would freeze for about 10sec, then unfroze but without control. I've a HOTAS joystick that works beautifully.
    Help!!!

      @@Huddison I think the problem has gone away. Two things happened, so I am not sure which solved it. 1. Today, I went to Device Manager, Human Interface, right click on the Yoke line, chose UnInstall and chose Remove Driver. Reboot. At that point, the yoke has the default driver that Win10 has for it. That works in FS2020, actually and refreshingly better than the Logitech driver. But I had to redo Assignments of buttons. [A minor problem here, worth noting, is that if you have a power supply 5v 1.5A plugged into the yoke you need to remove it, because it keeps whatever the latest info there is, in the yoke circuitry that rebooting won't help reset it.] That may have been the cause. Generic Win10 driver worked well. 2. Then I also realize that Win10 had a massive download, probably while I was trying to get the yoke to work (that explains the "freeze" aspect of it). This might have triggered the timeout by the yoke circuitry. HOTAS controller I had, and used during this time, did not have this problem. It might have been that something unique (protocol) in the Yoke circuitry that was vulnerable to inadvertent delay.
      The problem with using Win10 generic driver is that you won't have the clock display (on the yoke) to current local time. I'm going to leave it AS IS for a week to see if there's any issue. Then I will venture to reInstall the Logitech driver and see if the comm problem comes back.

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  3 года назад +1

      @@fredflorist1682 That's great to hear Fred.
      As a side note: I've always used the generic Windows 10 default driver for the yoke and the clock has always displayed the correct local time.
      I don't (and never have as yet) used a power supply with my yoke though - perhaps that is why I've never really had problems with it, to this date.

    • @fredflorist1682
      @fredflorist1682 3 года назад +1

      @@Huddison Win10 generic driver worked several times. So I attempted to reproduce the problem by installing the latest version of Logitech driver (file name : Flight_Yoke_System_x64_8_0_213_0.exe). Sure enough, it happened again. I wouldn't generalize that this would happen in every PC. It just doesn't like mine.
      Uninstalled again. Back to the generic driver. Use the Generic Win10 driver !!!!

    I shouldn't be that easy to pitch. In real life you really need to put effort on yoke if you are flying a plane that is not fly by wire. It might feel odd but thats how it is in reality and that is the reason why experienced simmers do worse than non simmers in their first real flight.
