I don't understand why the Souls games can't have an easy mode for people like me, who enjoy the style and looks and combat of the games, but aren't good enough to deal with the difficulty. There's so many Souls type games that I want to play and enjoy, but I'm more of a casual player, and I don't like severely difficult games.
TBH the difficulty of the Souls games is overrated, and I say this as a massive fan of the series. Compared to other modern games like Ninja Gaiden, or old school games like... well, Ninja Gaiden, the Souls games are a walk in the park. I did the One Dangerous Zombie on Survivor mode. The swear words seemed to just flow from my mouth like a waterfall. Invisible Enemies was also great. I am having a harder time with Resident Evil 7 Madhouse difficulty right now.
What about this one difficulty that wasn't mentioned, akumu difficulty in "the evil within" and "the evil within 2." This mode is basically an insta death no matter how you get hit by enemies or your own equipment. Also brings in more difficult enemies early on in the game. Basically need more skill in stealth than anything, hoping you don't kill yourself before the enemy actually does.
I think another game that deserves consideration is Hollow Knight. While it doesn't apply to the entire game, there is a boss rush in the Godmaster DLC that you can set to the Radiant difficulty. You basically fight all bosses in the game in one go and if at any point you get hit once, you die and you have to fight through all 30+ of them again. So you basically have to have perfect play for about 45+ minutes.
The last of us Grounded for the first and second game. It will test your knowledge of the game and will remove listen mode, one of the most useful things in the game.
I really like Grounded, although it was tough for the first few chapters, because I got used to listen mode, but at some point, I think after you crash into the convenience store after the ambush I realized that it's gotten considerably easier because I became a better player.
Grounded mode sure "hard" but brutal & hardcore nah not even close. For the avenge gamer maybe but a true brutal difficulty is "i am death incarnate" on Wolfenstein 2
This is gonna sound really childish and I’m sorry for this, but as short as the game mode is it is one of the hardest and that is FnaF custom night every character on max level. I mean it’s so hard that only the people who have practice months upon months of the mode been able to finish the one night. Funny thing is, is that it only last for around 4 minutes…

Harder modes in games like sniper elite that encourage a sneaky approach up the ante by a variable amount depending on whether or not the player is that sneaky sod who is willing to wait 15minutes or more for a needle threading bollock shot on hitler from the limit of the games draw distance.

Not sure, but I think I've played Ranger (Hardcore) in Metro 2033 Redux a few years ago and while it was tough I don't think it was THAT tough. Still pretty bold to sell it as a seperate DLC though.
Well I'm mindful of my blood pressure so I go easy. Fun for me is not sweating my ass out trying to defeat a boss or pass a certain stage. I don't play for trophies, I play for the story, so I go on easy mode.
"Hell, vs Hell" mode had some extremely hard fights, like the Nero vs Dante fight where he kills you with 1 pistol bullet or just breaking out of your combos. That being said, on "Hell vs Hell" mode the enemies were actually only at "Son of Sparda" difficulty. This meant a ton of the boss fights could be knocked out in like 30 seconds if you did them right. This was especially true with any of the Nero boss fights where if you could stagger a boss and then just Showdown + Buster grab combo with DT on you would pretty much hit every boss for 3/4 of their HP While almost always hitting somewhere between S and SSS style. For this reason, I actually thought a lot of the levels were more difficult on "Dante must die" mode. The enraged enemies on "Dante must die" mode were no joke and since you basically couldn't knock them off balance fighting them was a nightmare.
I wonder why anyone would play such crazy difficulty modes. Going for a challenge with hard mode is one thing but beyond that is just beyond fun. It's torture.

I was getting so worried as the list was dwindling down that I wouldn't see Hell & Hell mode and would have to leave a disappointed comment, but you put it in the right spot! 😂
I remember bad in the days I almost finished Dead Space 3 in it's hardest difficulty... almost.
Getting all the achievements in Portal 2 killed me. Not because it was extremely difficult, but just difficult enough with co op that I rage quit many times.
I'm surprised you didn't have Ultra Nightmare from Doom (2016) on there.
My motto: Go hard or go home.
Bloodborne - Beaten using Waste of Skin and I didn't use parry ONCE
Alien Isolation: Beaten on Nightmare
Last of US: Beaten on Grounded
Last of US 2: Played on Grounded (Stopped playing because I didn't like playing as the person that killed Joel)
Outlast: Beaten on Nightmare
and on and on...
Why do I do this? Games are expensive and I want to squeeze every last drop of enjoyment out of them as I can.
I also enjoy the challenge.
DMC 4 hell on hell mode I got past the first level and made it to the castle damn hard
And this is a re-upload. WatchMojo has been around much longer on here than WhatCulture and they, somehow, haven't run out of ideas. Over the last few months, half of WhatCulture's uploads have been old videos.
I remember playing metro on ranger difficulty but quit after one point where they decided they didnt need to tell me the hot key to fight some creature attacking me in a qte
Thank heavens botw master mode wasn't on here. Although Trial of the Sword on Master Mode is absolute hell. If you do find starting master mode to be difficult, more health won't help. Stamina is your friend and get used to bows and jumping off horses.
You should have thrown a few bullet hell games on the hardest levels in here!!
Wish me luck, I'm doing NVM on Max Payne 3 for a few days now :3
You should have looked into Dead Cells, I have been playing it and each time you beat it you can make it harder, which makes one mistake basically the end of your run.
I liked One Dangerous Zombie.. If I remember correctly, you get an achievement for blowing him up. And a game over 😆😆
BTD6 CHIMPS mode is one of the hardest if not the hardest modes is games. This list had way to many first person shooters.
Is it not illegal for a game developer to maliciously and sadistically torture
their players like this? Even if those players are masochistic enough to ask
for it? :)
My best friend and college roommate beat Hell and Hell mode on DMC4, and I think he broke 3 DualShocks in the process.
Playing sniper elite 4 right now with a custom difficulty where enemy stats are all set to synthetic plus. Literally never taken me longer to complete ONE level. 😂
Snotty Jules sounds like Euan?
Completing Hell and Hell on Dmc 4 and Dmc 5?
Easy. With practice, time and patience, perfection can be accomplished in the hardest difficulty ever seen.
Jules Boi, I dont know what it was but you sounded top in this video with your presentation and what not!
Seeing left 4 dead on here is making me feel so nostalgic wish they got a remaster 😭
I didn't think Ranger was that difficult. The rail scenes can be though.
This list is invalid without Doom Eternal, ultra nightmare mode.
Because this might be an older video that's re-uploaded. 🤔
@@LeanBacalzo
Bingo. This is an old video that they've reuploaded, I remember watching this years ago.
They've been doing this recently. That's why there are list videos with Ash and Ewan. Feels like a cheap way to get views.
They do update the end card however, to make it look like a part of the new videos.
This list is incomplete. .
Because Wolfenstein 2's 'Mein Leben" isn't in here. .
Jules taking a swing at anime fans like he didn't learn anything from the Mighty No 9 backlash.
Can't believe you didn't mention the New Game Minus in Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age, lol.
What's that?
@@SilverByakuya New Game Minus is a mode you can Unlock after completing the Trial Mode, which is no easy task in itself... but basically, it makes you play through the Main Game while not being able to increase any of your Characters' Level at all. It's truly a Challenge to say the least. ;)
@@kriz2432 That sounds like a recipe for a lot of 1 hit deaths in a turn based game.
@@SilverByakuya It really is, that's what makes it hard, lol. You really gotta plan your every action to a T in New Game Minus... you can't go at it the same way you would in the normal Game. ;)
I don't know about other games but I just completed Hollow Knight and Steel Soul and Radiant Pantheon still scare me
Resident Evil 7: Madhouse. Had to give up at the battle with Magareet
The damn anorlando archers
LMFAO! I actually LIKE Ranger Mode, and need to get back to it. I started a game on that difficulty a while back, but got sidetracked with other games. I might also be pretty damn good at Metro 2033, so it’s not too bad on me. I can’t remember how far I’ve gotten, though.
Cool list julse
Totally expected halo laso would be on this list
i just beat Bayonetta 1’s Non-Stop ∞ Climax mode with mostly platinum trophies (and 4 gold ones) and it’s just insane since you can’t use Witch Time almost all the time
if you think it’s not even that hard, try it with Zero, you’ll die in two hits with that guy and healing only increases how much damage you’ll get, thus decreasing your score
i’m not gonna shoot for 100% pure platinum because my brain can’t handle that insanity, sadly
(no one talks about Bayonetta 2’s ∞ Climax because it’s too easy and fair honestly)
Sad to not see Halo’s LASO here 😅
Like Bioshock infinite final stage
Master Ninja in any Ninja Gaiden
Ranger mode on metro is the only way to play ❤️
Divinity Original Sin 2, Honor Mode, enough said
That Bleach mention had me DYING.... Mainly because I'm one of said Bleach fans 😂
I am looking for a list of games where the higher difficulty level is much better than the standard one, for the average player.
Well, if you're looking for a challenge then good luck with that because you can't find any other hardcore challenge than the ultra-nightmare mode + Hell and Hell mode.
Master Ninja Difficulty in Ninja Gaiden II 360 version
Wait, Ranger mode was this hard for people? I mean sure it wasn't easy, but compared to Hell & Hell, for example, Ranger is a walk in the park and surely doesn't belong on this list.
Is it just me, or does this vid not sound much like the Jules Gill we all know and love? Also, where's the PMA Message Jules usually leaves at the end of the vid?
It's a re-upload. All those games are old, yo.
i don't play that hard, but only when i feel bored and just do it for fun.
You have hard games, and then you have hard games that will do everything in their power to make you rage quit.
Dislikes don't mean anything so make sure you leave them in the comments section so creators still know when their content sucks and they need to do better.
My life is complete lol
At first I thought you guys hired a new presenter
Too bad Iron Man difficulty doesn’t mean you have to fight Iron Man or an army of Iron Suits 😂
I really don't know how, even why people finish games on the hardest difficulties... Like I really don't get it.
I'd add Fire Emblem Awakening, Lunatic I tried it I don't think I beat Level 1
Nice video
