I love the chaos familiars that came with that chaos sorceror. The tiny knight and the little scroll guy are so cute
Unintentionally met Scriptor Mortis model in on-line shop and ordered it right that moment. In my opinion it's one of the most uncommon, mystique and atmospheric undead model for the long period of time. You do not see in this character a weapon or any other thing that can harm you, but the more frightening atmosphere of danger and horror is pumped up.
I don't know yet where would use it, but it was the case when I knew that I must take it!

Scriptor Mortis was definitely the easiest to build NH hero so far, I had a blast building him, can't wait to paint him!
The Nethermaze Skaven were just phenomenal, hopefully GW finally takes the hint and realizes the community really loves Skaven, and wants them supported.
Those wardogs look really cool. I usually build regular model kits but I have been watching you and I need to get into these minis!
Some of my personal favourites were the Hexbane Hunters, I had a lot of fun painting that warband!
I completely agree with you about the chaos minis. They often have too much detail. I’m not a big fan of them, in general, except for the Beasts of Chaos and the more simple Chaos Knights that look like they are from Conan the Barbarian

My favourite was the Scinari Enlightener. Simple elegent model design with plenty of things you can do if you're looking to push the standard of the model for competition.
The Delaque Spyker is really awesome, I also really dig the Clade Vanus Infocyte Assassin, that's really unique and stylish looking. I like your choices a lot. I don't collect Nighthaunt but Scriptor and Awlrach are just very cool minis stylistically.

I really like the "Accursed Cultists" Box from the Chaos Space Marines range, super nasty looking Minis that make Chaos Spawns how they supposed to look (at least in my Opinion). I also think, the Box gets overlooked by a lot of people!
I had Bayards revenge as number 1… recently started painting it and been having lots of fun with it
I personaly voted for the Avatar of Khaine (even though I do not enjoy Eldar that much) for several reasons:
-It is an iconic mini in lore and tabletop
-It is a "generic" character, so you can truly make it your own
-It has several build options that are all fun

As much as I love Avatar, I still think that new Rangers and Shroud Runners(especially Shroud Runners) are better design. It wasn`t obvious at first. But after I assembled them it became clear. Official paintjob on website does not do them justice.
Great video, lots of new ones that passed me by and this has made me look for at least one set as I just paint and dont play so thanks heaps. Also love your top ten more than the warhammer ten, just saying.
i agree with the "too much detail" view with a lot of the chaos models. happens a lot with 3d sculpted minis these days, like some of the different patreon groups ex. archvillain games, which have AWESOME minis but they would be so much better scaled up like 35% so you could actually see the details but at that point it defeats the purpose of minis lol
I think the Golden Demon gretchin used the smoke from the scriptor mortis. Such an awesome model full of possibilities.
Thanks for the clip! I liked the Avatar most. It's a great remake that stands in it's own right in addition to all the nostalgia from the original pewter one.
Since you mentioned Confrontation, you could do a list of the best Confrontation minis. I have my list for sure :)
Gotta agree with the Psyker dude and Goff Rocker being in the top tier. The psyker especially was just such a cool and grotesque idea. And if I ever stop liking a goofy ork design, assume I've been abducted by aliens and replaced with a reptilian clone.

Bayard's Revenge is by far the best in my opinion because it tells a story.
Sure you can create one with any of the minis presented here, but by itself with just paint on it, it is by far the best.
with the slave of darkness daemon prince i was thinking of making the chest plate the "head" of the model and get rid of the actual head to make it a bit more like a blemmyae
Love the design of the Avatar but, to me, the flames coming out of his body look really tacked on, kinda like an afterthought. Possibly partly because they are very flat compared to more 3D fire/smoke we've seen on GW miniatures in recent years. That's the only reason it doesn't make my list.
For the Slaves to Darkness set, my main disappointment (once I saw that the daemon prince kits has some better heads) is the ogroids. GW just still cannot do modular (mostly) naked bodies well.
I fully agree with you on the breath of fresh air and creativity Warcry and Necromunda bring to their universes. There are even some downright disturbing pieces in these ranges that I suspect would never come out as "regular" AoS or 40k models.
Yeah I had a huge segment in this where I talked about how the ogre bodies feel like a step backwards. But it felt rambly so I cut it out 🤣 but yes, I agree.
Xenos is a damn good book.
My favorites are always Darren Latham's sculpts are always my favorite. Void Dragon should of won imo a couple years back
I voted for the Cargo-8 RidgeHauler for 2022 best mini. It a great for kit bashing, especially for making ork vehicles.

As much as i like chaos armies. Among other's who like this faction my only complaint is the unnecesarry amount of skull's , spkiky bits and fine detail on them. For chaos marines i painted in the year i like the Horus Heresy marine's . As it is enough detail with out over doing it. At the same time allowing you to convert or kitbashed them as a base model for a 40k army. As the Heresy marines for all of marks of models i used one to make heresy style armor from a chaos warband leader using older marks of armor in 40k.
I voted for Awlrach. Love the Scriptor Mortis, but I'm not a fan of him having three arms...
I absolutely agree that painting chaos can become tedious, especially when it's an entire army. I've done it, and it stops being fun at some point. Still, I did it, with no quick recipes except for the base armor color being done with an airbrush (which still leaves all the trim to do by hand - today I'd likely do it the other way round ... ).
It was a real slog at times, but you know ... I'm VERY happy I did it now. The army just looks amazing, and anything else I start after that (the chaos army was my first) will feel super easy by comparison (like the Raven Guard army I've started recently).
That said, GW's chaos releases are still nothing when it comes to detail overload compared to some other sculptors. Archvillain Games comes to mind, for instance.
Oh yeah, some other companies go even more bananas with details...like i said...it's usually not a sign of quality work :/
Im new to all this. Will all these be available and reprinted for a good amount of time to come? Or is Warhammer stuff seasonal and one off releases?
since they are made for games you can get them all for long periods of time so you can actually play them in your armies. sometimes minis get updated models and disappear, but we are talking decades here.

Oh no, I just got back into the hobby and I thought "Why does he talk about Confrontation like it's not a thing anymore" and I googled Rackham and they ceased operation in 2010 :( Back in 2004-2005 when I quit, it felt like they were GW's biggest competitor regarding miniature quality and general proliferation.
But the passion for Rackham miniatures still lives on
rackham had many "problems" - their demise definitely was that they were artists first, businessmen....6th or 7th.

I'm amazed that people chose the avatar. It's a pretty bad model, not a thought out design, it's like they decided to throw everything there could be at the model
Honestly I think that one with the guy stabbing the ork is ugly as fuck. I think there's a reasonable line between a static pose and an "in action" pose but that one is so "in action" that it looks ridiculous.
The new skeletons underworld warband Sons of Velmorn is just perfected GW modeling to me. I still voted for the gits warband. Home is where the heart is.
Side note: I'm starting to dislike chaos humans just based on how many release they get like space marines fatigue. It can be perfect, but it does not spark joy because there is like 50 more releases of them.

I think there are one or two people on the GW design team that lack any creative ingenuity. Possibly Darren Latham, who I know is obsessed with 90s Warhammer. The new Eldar are awful, just looked the same as the old ones. I thought it could be a real chance to introduce some interesting design aspects to them. Space marine buggy is a joke, the space Wolves helmets, the space dwarves look boring with no dwarfy aspects to them at all. The new avatar too. Boring.

i think bayard is actualy really good mini because it can be used to a heap of different ways and kitbashed into really anything. both the poses of the orc and bayard have so much versatility and use you can really use them anywhere.

@@trovarion i like to think that the worth of a mini is how it can inspire creativity. a showpiece mini that costs hundreds, looks visually awesome but can really only be painted a couple ways for it to look good will always pale in comparison to the simple mini that can inspire people to change it and come up with ideas that make that mini unique. an example is for a painting club thing im a part of we have a theme and a cheap $5 mini and you paint it how you think the theme is. one was a skaven and the theme was quick quick scurry scurry....
i heated it, morphed it and painted bloody sonic the hedgehog with rings and everyting. it won hands down :P
