Some might ask "Can Humans Think?"
Yes
+Micah Buzan no we killed lots of animals that benefit us
yeah we can think, but rarely anything really intelligent ;)
no
Can humans think? Because you thought about it, think about the answer. If you have an answer, then yes. If you don't have an answer, then still yes.
Plants are as kind as Canadians. "Here, have some nutrients. Thanks man, now I can make more nutrients to give to you!"
+David Hawthorne I know m8
Let's be honest plants are smarter then us humans
Thanks man, I'm Canadian!

Hey guys, turns out plants are really smart. A tree just showed up in our Vector Calculus course in September. . .he's pretty cool. . ..
Omg!! What kind of tree?
Yellow Malice Probably an evergreen because it's September .
Did you just called a tree "he" if so the correct term is ze, for something that is a non-binary gender.
*****
Intelligence isn't just things like calculus.
Where's he from? I wanna meet his family.
Well, this is creepy. Imagine when I tear a leave apart and it knows
Why u do dis D:
Because I'm a normal child
lol least you dont have to cut the grass every two weeks...
They aren't conscious. They simply react to their environment. They can't feel pain, see, think, hear, etc.
Zakk Wylde of course their do
Why do we eat living things? Because food chain, that's why. Until we evolve photosynthesis, we shouldn't fret about the diet we have.
Exactly! We're meant to be omnivores!
Not when we do what we do to animals. Do some research. There's nothing natural about what we do to get food.
Juliette Fan what you are saying it's nonsense, in these days food production it's massive and I know they hurt the animals, I care about animals, and I really don't want animals to suffer, but that's just start to happen decades ago, if you grow up a pig, and then kill it with respect to eat, that's the way to go.
Thiago Baldwin Why does it matter if the end result is the same.
Thiago Baldwin Lol that's funny. You say you love something yet you're willing to eat it. That's not respect. If we were neanderthals perhaps but we're in the 21st century. In developed counties there's absolutely no need for us to do what we do to them. There's absolutely no respect in these farms. Billions are killed each day, most of which is wasted. So much land and water is used to raise livestock, it's killing our environment. Before you say what I'm saying is nonsense do what in asking and please do some research about where your food comes from. They all suffer if they get torn from their mothers, and in the end up on your plate.
Plants have feelings, too! Support plants' rights!
Don't make the angry vegetarians come after you :P

We can't eat plants
Wtf do we eat?
+Vlogging Sassy fruit; it's by definition the ovary of the plant. It is made to be eaten so that later it is pooped out and has some fertlizer (the poo) which helps it grow. Such a diet of only eating fruit is called fruitarian (yes it's real).

1:38 rare image of trees secretly trading underground
Reminds me of that one story where an inventor made something where he could hear plants and was horrified by their cries as his neighbour mowed the lawn. >_
Plants when cut or pull out the ground do in fact make noises, as they vibrate as cell bonds brake, but this affects the air in the slightest way and is also ultrasonic, meaning we can't hear it. But its not made in a way we make sound, but is to do with physics, but still.
TheeLogicGamer so. the fresh cut grass smell is actually the plant last cry to warm nearby plants about danger?
Haha not exactly, but let your imagination run wild.
This is amazing! As a child I always wondered if plants could feel pain and would feel bad about stepping on the grass because I thought I was hurting it. Sounds silly right?
I can't eat anything now. But I mean when you think about it, a tree doesn't die from fruit harvest, so fruit is ok right?
Fruitism
Loborithm frugavorism
Harvesting fruit is like choping the balls of a human then letting them grow back again .3,
Actually, Apples and other fruit are designed to be eaten or to rot.
It means that either an animal will eat it, seeds and all, and help with planting and fertilisation of the seeds, or the seed will have the nutrients from the fruit's flesh to feed on while it grows wherever the rotten fruit has been discarded
So, the plants WANT you to eat fruit, and in return we create farms and encourage the future plants to prosper
Eat only byproducts, fruit, honey, eggs, milk and other things like that.

Now a lot of people hating on vegans and vegetarians. Think is a subjective term. Now when there is scientific peer reviewed research that plants feel unpleasant feelings just like we do then your comments will make sense.
In the end by putting down vegans and vegetarians, you are putting yourself down more.
I have another interesting fact:
Certain kinds of wasps lay their eggs inside figs on a fig tree, and as a form of payment, pollinate the figs.
However, when a wasp fails to pollinate the figs, researchers have found that these fig trees are more likely to drop the figs which hold the wasp eggs - in a form of retaliation.
Pretty cool, right?
im gonna talk to the trees now

oh no don't say plants think, that will lead all the vegetarians into extinction, that's one of the many reasons they don't eat meat
you say that like it's a bad thing.

Don't you just love how we can anthropomorphize plants, but when it comes to the animals they eat, people will find any excuse to deny their capacity to think, feel and experience suffering?
But they were put here by Jebus or Hole Father for us to use as toolz. Der get educated.
Natural selection, rules the world of the living, it is not difference, of what other species would do, if they evolved to our level of intelligence.
Slowly, we will learn to control ourselves, to achieve a higher and pure goal.
Well it’s more an argument for how stupid vegan activists are like sorry but the sad reality of life is that in order to live you must take life.
Are you going to create a geology channel called AsapROCKY?

Plants are cool.
I peed in my garden and I think the plants liked it because they didn't even move out of the way.
Well, technically it's good for them.
Your profile picture (which looks like Pou, by the way) perfectly matches your comment.
KeterHirameki ...technically? In what way? XD
KeterHirameki actually it's not good for them. i did a test when i was a little boy where i would pee on the same spot in my backyard every day. the grass died only on that spot.
Corn plants can hear caterpillars munching? I guess that's why they call it an EAR of corn!
i guess vegetarians are going to have to start eating sand, dirt, and rocks.
But theres poor bacteria in the soil!
"can sand, dirt and rocks think?"
Alex M. Sand dirt and rock lives matter
If you care about plant lives, then veganism actually saves lives given the amount of plants being fed to animals for a fraction output through meat. Indirectly, veganism saves animals and plant lives.
@@uday7633 screw it. just eat meats. they are high quality nutrients and other good sources of energy
You know, your plant based videos make me think more about plants. At first, I thought plants were just simple little guys that made oxygen for us. But now, I learned that plants can hear, think, communicate, etc. They probably even feel stuff, like pain.
You misunderstood, they can't do any of those. They just have automated reactions to things, kind of like heartbeat in your body, they don't think about what they do, they just do, just like your heart beats without you having to think about it, you can be unconscious and still have many things going on in your body.
I'm still pretty sure they don't feel pain
But whatever, im a dumbass sometimes
They do feel pain. It's just different from how we feel pain. Otherwise they wouldn't release a distress call to other blades of grass when they get chopped off to warn them of oncoming danger. That freshly-cut grass smell you like? That's a distress call.
They also don't turn certain colors when something is wrong with them.
See that vegans? Have a heart... eat a rock.

Who needs a brain when you have evolution? :P
*Massive facepalm*
You wouldn't have a brain without evolution :3
ಠ_ృ lol... But plants have evolved without developing brains. We're talking plants, here.
Son Goku Fortunately you can do that, as you are mobile, and not a plant. Imagine if a plant wanted to develop the ability to facepalm. That would take a lot of evolution. Or selective breeding.
I think these people facepalming don't get the exact point about your point. Or they actually believe plants just appeared from nowhere! :O *WOAAA*

I could watch these videos for my whole life without getting bored
never would have thought plants were so smart. your videos are awesome
Oh no! Now what are vegans going to eat?
The video didn't prove that plants can feel pain, or that they have conscious thought and emotions.
WinterSky no farm animals that have conscious thought, and the only emotion they have the capacity to feel is fear. If they are killed humanely, then in theory they shouldn't feel much (if any) pain...
WinterSky
I don't know, they might still suffer even if they don't fell any physical pain.
Time to start investing on that synthetic lab food.
benoleno96
That doesn't matter to some vegans. They think that they are morally exalted just because they destroy a different form of life than normal people
Yes they can think, that's why you should Leaf them alone.

This is so fucking cool.

What really got me thinking is. Plants are not so petty or selfish like us, they out here help other trees throughout winter and smaller trees that can't get the proper food and nutrients.
Corn makes whiskey, which in turn makes my girl feel frisky. Thank you, corn.

If this is the case, what are vegans/vegetarians going to eat now? The argument that eating animals is wrong is starting to look invalid *begins to stroke beard*
Rocks.
Ive been thinking this ever since scientists found out that plants do feel pain and other feelings. This just adds to my belief that vegans and vegetarians are, in their quest to not harm things or whatever, they are really only harming one of the more defenseless lifeforms just because they dont make noise when they are harmed. I eat whatever has died to sustain me,if I dont eat a steak it doesnt mean the cow is going to come back, just that either someone else will or its death will be made pointless by allowing it to spoil and be trashed. Anyway, its their lives,as long as they dont force it upon me Im cool with their choice, its a destruction for creation, death for life thing anyway you go to eat unless its like rocks.
hehh ... there is some guys in India who said that they do not eat anything, just expose themselfs to sun ... and that's it ... so those vegas can "eat" sun ... he he
Well you can still be vegan/vegetarian because animal meats are more often than not more damaging when not portioned properly (and not many do), especially highly processed meats. I mean it's not even that they're eating plants, we've been using plant products since forever. So it's not like we haven't been "harming" plants already.
I didn't actually think THAT many plant eaters didn't eat meat because of that specific reason. Huh.
Asterite100 I know what you mean, moderation isnt used most of the time now when it is more or less a virtue that applies to so many things in life. The fact about us using plant products for so long can also be said of animals as well.
I only know a few vegetarians and have only talked to a few online about it. It always seemed to me that not harming animals was one of their key reasons, those were the ones I was talking about but I still knew about those who do it for health reasons, its hard to not to see things about it when you search for health related things.
Reminds me of a study I'd read about. A series of trees of the same type were planted on opposing sides of a lake. A worm that harms plants was introduced to one series of trees while the others didn't have this worm. Otherwise, all the environmental variables were the same. It was found, through a long series of roots systems the trees were essentially communicating and the healthy trees without these worms actually sent nutrients and such to the dying trees in an attempt to save them; however, this didn't work.
It was later, the infected trees were burned down to keep the infection from spreading to other areas, in doing so an amazing discovery was made. Through the root system an electrical disruption on a small scale was coming from the burning trees that if put in audio, would be the same as a mammal screaming in pain.

Sophie Borchers They always owned the world, it was a time of peace, but it all changed when the fire nat..i mean humans attacked.

+Cherrybl Fun yeah they could. especially if you have vines outside of your house. let those things grow, they'll probably bust through your windows, ad then you'll get robbed by some random person who just happens to walk by your house. then when you get back from your trip you'll be like the wtf, then you'll call the police and the police will be like " And how long ago had this incident occurred?" ANnd you'll be like " I don't know because I was on a business trip." Then the police will be like " Well I don't know if we'll be able to help, but we'll look into it. And if it happens again give us another call, ya' hear?" Then you'll be like " Okay " But you're actually think these bitches ain't gone help me do shit. The law ain't shit, police ain't shit, burglars ain't shit. I guess I'll have to take matters into my own hands. *And then you go on a murderous rampage*
THE END
They already did. It's no accident we're growing so much wheat, rice, corn, and grass. These plants tricked us into helping them conquer the world.
Great my entire life as a vegetarian has been a lie
I feel your pain.
But are plants sentient? Isn't that the name of the game (a la Peter Singer)?
Well technically plants cannot feel. They can react to chemical and stimuli but they cannot think and nobody has proven if plants can feel sad happy or lonely, unlike animals which it has been proven they can have feelings like sad and happy.
DubRGaming There are 11 dimensions in this goddamn universe who know jack shit about if plants feel or not its all theorhetical ….
although by my dumb logic plants can feel stars can dance and the bloody ocean can wake up and walk into space when it feels like it and all us humans will be left on Earth going "ah well guess we have to find a new source of life"
If you care about plant lives, then veganism actually saves lives given the amount of plants being fed to animals for a fraction output through meat. Indirectly, veganism saves animals and plant lives.
Vegetarian think they are not eating innocent creatures, show them this video.
Dont worry most vegetarians I know are very Smart people you are the only dumb fuck that can compare animal behavior with a plant.
gobprnosirve Most vegetarians don't know anything about the conditions under which the dominant cultures of the world arose. If they did, they would realize that a limited amount of animal protein proved to be a huge benefit to those cultures that had consistent access to them, and draw the conclusion that moderation, not abstinence, is the most sensible course of action.

Can Plants Think?
Find out in our latest video how incredibly intelligent plants really are! Not only can they smell, hear, and touch - they even store memories!
ruclips.net/video/u2GWd2j3qJ8/видео.html
nice video guys :)
Diana Peña Vegans just don't want to hurt animals so instead they will murder plants.
Grim The Person We currently have no way to prove or disprove the ability of plants to think. We have a hard time defining sentience and self awareness in other mammals as it is.
Grim The Person We have to define what we mean by "think" to answer this. "Use a brain", obviously they don't. Interact? It would seem so, but is it interacting or just reacting? When someone taps your knee and it jerks, was that thinking or just a reaction? I like to view thinking as making decisions in this context, the only time I saw that was with the "wood wide web" thing, but I'm still wondering if the plants made it happen or if it was just sort of diffusion/osmosis. -- However, don't mistake my comment as cheapening this, this is all really cool stuff!

It is a sad day when plants work together better than people do.
I want to ask a question.
So if a person has a memory rune (check out TMI) and because I memory rune is permanent, and if the person is dumped to the River Lethe (check out Greek history or PJO) so will that person be able to remember everything? Or will the person forget everything?
Thanks
Well, we always knew corn had ears.
I wonder if plants can sense pain.
The Mythbusters did an episode about that, you should check it out. If I remember correctly the plants ended up not showing signs of pain but I could be wrong
Ohhhh, you're right. I remeber this. At first they were shouting at them and then they imagined the plant burning to see if there was any reaction.
So, if plants sense pain, all this vegetarian thing is invalid :D
Yeah! Then we can't eat anything without feeling bad :D
They probably can react to stimulis, but I'm not sure if we can say they feel pain when they do it.
***** You can eat icecubes.
Some times it happens (atleast with me) that I view something in my dreams and it follows that it really happens in future. I feel like I am reliving the momement, same people, same place. What I did not yet know, however, is that corn can hear. How does that work?
If I had to hazard a guess I'd say it's something to do with the vibrations that sound produces, but I honestly have no idea. I think that warrants a follow-up video, it's truly bizarre yet amazing!

My parents told 30+ year old tree that we will cut it down if it didn't produce fruit next year (it had like a few dozen of fruits for the past 5 years before that) and the next year it had the best year ever, or not so much as it had so much fruit that one large branch snapped. From then on it still produces quite a lot of fruit. And so do other plants, if they're threatened, LOL :D
Checkmate vegetarians
Plants can work in groups better than I can :(
Don't you mean better than MOST of the human race.....?
I like these videos. Quick and well made.
its sounds a lot more like sub-conscious and not actual consciousness
Like of course they have some degree of knowledge in order for there survival but they need that in order to keep themselves growing, If a broccoli starts screaming, Ill think otherwise, the reason why we sympathise with animals so much.
Is because they have a brain, they are very similar in responding to things we do, like pain, sadness, happiness. in the matters of pain and emotion, we are all the same.
However when eating meat, we indirectly destroy more plants, as people harvest billions of crops to feed them
Plant-eating is both healthier, and better for the environment.
If any of you have netflix, Cowspiracy is a good watch to explain that :)
+Kaila Mackay also things like fruits, and some vegies, COME from plants, but they still very much live afterwards, and therefore benefit when we harvest the fruits off the plants.
If meat eaters can cut into an animal, take something that would benefit the animal, without hurting it or killing it. then we can think on the same page, but thats quite unpossible
+Kaila Mackay you disgust me. I am a farmer who has raised plants for over three decades. I know for a fact that plants have emotions. My 3 month old eggplant, named Tucker, was brutally murdered by a cold-blooded rabbit. We were friends since second grade, and he was a great drinking buddy. How dare you spit on his memory by saying he has a subconscious. #riptucker #savetheeggplant #killallanimals
Okay I'm done :') :') :')
not the same away, I never said there not living, however we are an animal, they are not. we can relate with animals easier.
plants are healthier and better for the environment.
and not eating animals saves more plants too because it diminishes the 70% of crops that go to feeding livestock
+Kaila Mackay //actual consciousness//
huh.....!!! There is NOTHING cool about 'consciousness'. Get over it!!!
Now I can never eat vegetables again thanks to the crippling guilt.

Let me get this right, I've been wondering for a while now why videos shared from you tube aren't embedding as posts in Google + well this video is embedded but is the result of a comment strange, so now I know of i want an embedded video from you tube on here I have to comment
Remember the Carol Burnett show where Tim is WRESTLING WITH THE PLANT? LOL
This information about plants was soooo good. I never knew any of that!
This isn't "thinking", this is simply reacting to a stimulus... individual cells can do this just as well, but they certainly don't think. Bad title for an incredibly obvious video.
The video is still cool, especially the wood wide web, no? And if you'd consider it, isn't you're thinking and my thinking nothing more than reacting to a stimulus but on a much more intricate scale?
***** While some of what we do is just reacting to stimuli, yes, our brains allow us to do much more. We are able to have original thoughts; to imagine, to create. We are able to recall memories. Those processes are much more than simple input->brain->output. Plants, on the other hand, being as they lack the necessary tissue types to allow for cognition, do nothing more than react.
thinking as is, is just a big scale of processing of stimuli.
so we dont think either?
i know what you meant, but didnt formulate it well.
lasarousi
True thinking is not simply responding to a stimuli. There is far more to it then that. If we work with that definition than many obviously non-living things start to appear to have the ability to "think", such as glaciers, storm systems, solar systems, and even atoms. Don't mistake the ability to change for true cognition. Plant do not think. They don't have thoughts. They don't come up with ideas.
epicpolyphony you are bold to say the last statement. we simply dont know that. and as for now, it may or may not be true.
developing efficient responses and coherent behavior may show intelligence, or perhaps not. we simply dont know.
200 years from now we will be asking the same thing about robots.

Why would it be advantageous for all fruit to ripen at once? Isn't each piece of fruit more likely to be eaten (and it's seeds carried further away in the digestive track of a larger animal) if there is less available at once. All the fruit ripe and falling at the same time would lead to rotting fruit and seeds that only end up at the foot of a tree and then competing with the parent tree for resources.
The only thing I can think of would be to get the seeds in the ground at the right time of year to maximize germination potential.
Trees do not need every seed to germinate for them to successfully reproduce. Just think about how many seeds a tree produces every year. If each seed turned into a new tree, these new descendents would starve each other over scarcity of resources. This is an evolutionary trait. Furthermore, it is advantageous for fruit to ripen all at once, as the abundance of ripened fruit attracts a larger number of animals, than would say a couple fruits dropped occasionally. It is just about the same reasoning as to why males ejaculate far more sperm than could be fertilized, to yes, "maximize germination potential."
