Daigo always impress me with his winning streaks. Doesn't matter how good you are, players always lose a couple games once in a while. I played really high skilled players, obviously they were a lot better than me and I still was able to win one or two matches in ten games even though it looked almost impossible for me to win. Daigo and players like him (Tokido etc.) can come up with 20 win streaks against really good players. That's really interesting to me.
Well said! I once visited the arcades in Japan, and the skill level is insane. For players like Daigo to sustain a solid win streak in that sort of climate is beyond impressive.
Daigo's Akuma keeps on getting better, hope he mains him...but Im not a fan of those tatsu>fadc, he seems to miss the combo after that and just wasting the meter
In most Japanese tournaments (at least the ones I've attended) you HAVE to announce the character you'll be using beforehand when you register and you HAVE to stick to it. If Ryu has a bad match-up, then Daigo's stuck having to deal with it. Outside of Japan, there's much more freedom and counter-picking is allowed. So with Daigo having 3 good characters under his belt, he should be able to dominate in any upcoming tournament...outside Japan that is.
That's how you make the difference between good players, and excellent players. They can have 20 win streaks against good players, because they know everything about their characters and about the opponent's character. Every move is calculated, and they can keep their composure.
the opponent can quick-rise after an uppercut, but not after a sweep. The sweep gives you a really good opportunity to set up another combo for when they get up, and makes it harder for them to stop it.
You get a hard knockdown which allows you to mixup them up on Wakeup. If you mix them up successfully, you can combo into another sweep and repeat the process.
@atlame hmm, I did realize it was a bait/read; however, even in that sense it was still insane reaction time. Sure, he anticipated the spiral arrow from Osugi, but in the end he still waited for the animation to go through before throwing a shoryuken. I would definitely expect him to NOT throw an srk out had Osugi NOT of done a spiral arrow.
@TubeKnow How do you dictate that decision making doesn't help get a win? I think Tokido would disagree with you there. He's already stated before how he'd rather not fight Daigo in a tournament, a testament to how well Daigo plays in general rather than what character he's using.
Daigo imo expresses himself a lot more with Akuma than he does with Ryu. i think its just the limited style Ryu has, Solid as all hell but not great in any one area.
When has Daigo ever used multiple characters? I thought he always just focused on one. I've never seen him play more than one character in a tournament. Have you?
daigos akuma is very nice I think I saw a video of him using akuma at a tournament not sure if it was casual in pools or what but id love to see him use akuma at evo
You can't quick-recover from a sweep, that's why you usually want to do that whenever you can. Unfortunately the sweep is character-specific, you can't do it on Ryu for example, that's why you would go for an uppercut against those characters.
@IHeartDieWaffenSS2 depends what level of players youre playing. i would have thought ryu did better vs cammy than akuma as she is 1 of his bad match ups in previous versions
@blackhorse1988 lol? her spiral arrow is safe if spaced propally ,her uppercut is not safe but it isnt hard punished like shoto's and her dive kick is almost safe unless it is to the top of her opp i dunno what are you complaining about
@TubeKnow tokido doesn't have daigo's defense or the reaction time to antiair like you see daigo doing here, those are very important too, daigo has a stronger ground game too.
I didnt like Daigos Yun, nor his appearences as Guile or Cammy. And in earlier vids i also didnt like his Ryu like Akuma, but now he is making better and better use of Akumas options. Great to watch !
Not just in the same tournament, I've seen him do it in the same match, if somebody can manage to beat the one he was playing as with any degree of ease.
One of Ryu's worst matchups is dictator but Akuma is also bad agaisnt dictator. Ryu has a very tough time with Dhalsim. I wonder how Akuma does vs. Dhalsim or what other tough Ryu matchups are.
Dont understand why Daigo doesn't practise and use Akumas ultra 2. It could be a devastating weapon if someone like Daigo got to use it properly, I bet he could learn all the funky set ups.
you're right. my highest win streak is 19 while daigo's highest win streak was 45. Asian players are really hard to beat these days watch?v=q3fa4Ue1y_E

subscribed :) been trying to find some umehara akuma matches for awhile.
16 minutes left at work... perfect!
rare footage of Daigo actually playing with GOuki :O :D
Some reactions from daigo were really godlike on those cannon spikes
"Master of timing"
Proceeds to drop about 10 combos.
Lag maybe?

Daigos got such a weird style for his akuma but it seems to be working out for him. Props to him.
@IlIl00 The start up for Akuma's standing strong is one frame less(3 frames) than his standing fierce(4 frames) according to shoryuken's wiki.

In the same tournament? I wonder what matchups are better for Ryu and which are better for Yun.

His style is so interesting to watch.
Holy fuck, it jumped from 2 wins to 12 wins in a row.
12:33 sick , i give up . reading or reflex ?
Yes, actually, quite frequently. There's quite a few times I've seen him switch between Ryu and Yun.
You get a hard knockdown which allows you to mixup them up on Wakeup. If you mix them up successfully, you can combo into another sweep and repeat the process.

Excellent time to start the video...
@XblackvegetaX what do you mean by leveling his akuma to help his ryu?
glad to see that Daigo still has that GODLIKE shoryuken reaction heh.
Playing Daigo would frustrate the hell out of me, he plays SO perfect
@TubeKnow How do you dictate that decision making doesn't help get a win? I think Tokido would disagree with you there. He's already stated before how he'd rather not fight Daigo in a tournament, a testament to how well Daigo plays in general rather than what character he's using.

Rare footage of Daigo actually akuma
12:35 the reactions
It still looks like his Akuma is a work in progress, but its still really good, as you'd expect from Daigo.
educate me, if akuma jumps to do a mixup after a hard knockdown, wouldnt cammy catch him with her equivalent of a dragon punch when she gets up?
When has Daigo ever used multiple characters? I thought he always just focused on one. I've never seen him play more than one character in a tournament. Have you?
Blows up grab techs. I like that good shit
daigos akuma is very nice I think I saw a video of him using akuma at a tournament not sure if it was casual in pools or what but id love to see him use akuma at evo
awesome upload

why sweep after hurricane kick and not uppercut?
Lol, Diago hit her with the shoryuken frame trap almost every single time...
@IHeartDieWaffenSS2 depends what level of players youre playing. i would have thought ryu did better vs cammy than akuma as she is 1 of his bad match ups in previous versions
no, he didnt drop ryu, he just picked up akuma because in AE 2012 he got buffed, and he wants to win to make money, so yeah.
@blackhorse1988 lol?
her spiral arrow is safe if spaced propally ,her uppercut is not safe but it isnt hard punished like shoto's and her dive kick is almost safe unless it is to the top of her opp

@atlame oh never mind i thought he said reactions not rreflex lol. sorry
daigo's akuma is pretty good.
imagine daigo's zoning and tokido's vortex. oh god...
Same problem I always ran into with Cammy. I love her, but nothing she does is safe, and getting punished is a death sentence. :(
I wonder if daigo expresses his emotions when he plays at home, like imagine him screaming when he lose a game rofl
7 MONTHS AGO, and how right you were,.
who is the strongest?
Like: Akuma
comment: Cammy
does daigo only play endless?
interesting to see how Daigo performs when hes using a character thats actually the same tier as other people.
12:33 cat-like reflexes man
12:34 loool that reaction speed!
who is this cammy? high must be ranked pretty high on the AE in japan
He does, there's some pretty nasty footage of him doing so
well i guess you learn something new everyday, btw, the sweep is to give cammy a hard knockdown do he can try a setup.
@Tuuvas not a reflex, he baited it with the 2HK cause he was low on health. Its a pure bait/read.
He was just waiting for it. Cant be a reflex.
Daigo as Akuma? Interesting.
I see a little bit of ryu in his performance :P
One of Ryu's worst matchups is dictator but Akuma is also bad agaisnt dictator. Ryu has a very tough time with Dhalsim. I wonder how Akuma does vs. Dhalsim or what other tough Ryu matchups are.
He keeps doing the tatsu fadc since in this version akuma's close mk is not yet force stand on hit. The tatsu is force stans but it's hard to connect.
12:34... that Umehara Shoryu... gdlk read!
untechable knockdown, to keep the pressure going.
This may sound wierd. But it seems to me he plays Akuma like Ryu.
@TubeKnow Tokido has technique with his Akuma, but he has nothing on the crazy decisions and precision Daigo makes.
3:57 gameinn was trying to fadc into ultra hadoken... lol
+coolguy104c He didn't
Only time I see someone use dp, fadc, s.strong, tatsu.
It seem good here.
9:46 FAIL!!!
Dont understand why Daigo doesn't practise and use Akumas ultra 2. It could be a devastating weapon if someone like Daigo got to use it properly, I bet he could learn all the funky set ups.
for instance : shoryuken + focus + dash
ooh daigo you little masher!
cammy will always take a shoryuken, that's the only whay to counter a spiral arrow or a cannon strike, that's her weakness
This didnt replicate his loss to cammy at all in evo.
despret seems like the name of a pokemon
Wow! He beat a 5800pp cammy pretty convincingly with akuma.
It's interesting to see one of the top ranked Akuma's in the Japanese arcade is Daigo but he has 0 battle points here ha.
@Oxymoron32GB he was probably studying him
super ryu-style akuma
apparently he doesnt want to look like Infiltration
*liked!
irony isn't it? he was sent to the losers bracket in evo by an akuma...
daigo often misses the sweep after tatsu which effects the flow of the match significantly. i put it down to online skankiness.
mu guess is daigo has dropped ryu?
You obviously don't know what sarcasm is.
@Tuuvas oh yeah, that was godlike anyway :D
0bp,,, i love that shit haha,, the ultimate slap in the face hahah
hahahaha 3rd match video - Gameinn - 12 wins >.>
Next: Sako
daigo gotta stop using teleport when cammy has a ultra charged up lol
i hate when cammy loses
good call
Alt account detected. Start uploading MashDatDP replays. I am 118% sure its Daigo.
look like Infiltration?, lol!!! Daigo been playing with Akuma since the Alpha days, after he fought Valle's Ryu he switched to Ryu
funny when daigo wins, no 1 says its fake.
1ce daigo loses, fanboys says '' thats not daigo ''
Hahahaha, Capcom sure knows how to sell its characters with those peculiar camera angle shots... amirite?
hehe, daigo knows that he has to get better with akuma to beat mago and fuudo in evo later this year, lol dude did his homework...
you're right. my highest win streak is 19 while daigo's highest win streak was 45.
Asian players are really hard to beat these days
watch?v=q3fa4Ue1y_E
UPPERCUT!!!
hm, maybe just guesing/mindgame?
hm well maybe he expected U1 , so he did a meaty?
