this is probably the best video i’ve ever watched. for 52 minutes i forgot i was living in a small village in france and felt like i was walking through 5th avenue in new york. going to new york is honestly my biggest dream. ever. this video made me so happy😢
EDIT : people in the comments be like "i prefer villages blahblahblah" and i know how a french village can sound like, and it’s good if you want to spend a week there to breathe fresh air or take a couple pictures for instagram... BUT try living there for 20 years without a car / public transport, surrounded by old people and no stores and far from everything and no activities and so many things that describe this sh*thole. i’m sure you’ll miss the city after a week :) but that’s only my personal opinion :) bye
EDIT number 2 : i really didn’t expect to get that many answers😭 i wrote this comment 8 months ago while dreaming of getting out of my house so now that i have enough distance from these thoughts i want to clarify something !
i obviously know that living in a village in france is far from horrible, and i’m very aware of my privilege and how a lot of people all around the world don’t have the same chance as me. the debate between what is better between living in new york / living in a village in france is completely pointless.
i want to thank all of you for your answers though ! i like reading about other opinions / point of views, and i’m sorry if i offended anyone.
i hope you will all accomplish your dreams, no matter where you live in the world! ❤️

Mark Coast but I’m afraid you have to work hard to get your living there. I’ve been to New York several times, and I(or my dad) usually asks our friends how much they have to pay to live there, and they would say between $2,000 to $7,000(note that, this is how much houses costs in Brooklyn) not including tax. I imagine that in the heart of New York, it’s between $6,000 to $15,000, not including tax, to live there.

I went to Times Square on Monday there were only about 100 people walking around. It felt nice n weird at the same time. I took the train first time since March, they are basically spotless👀👀 n still pretty empty. Eventually I’m sure it will be back to the throngs of people walking around, for now I’m going to enjoy the empty spaces.

Oh wow, where to begin...!? I loved this video! My husband and I visited NYC two years ago, stayed down on 46th somewhere, and learned the subway system, visiting all the touristy spots that week... Last year we returned, but this time branched out for some historical places. This year (in April again) we are staying close to Central Park, and will spend much of our time there, relaxing, walking, exploring, painting, taking photos...But hey! I stumbled onto this video tonight and walked all the way down 5th Ave. with you, totally enjoying your narration and fantastic tour, along with tips for tourists! Next thing I do will be to look for a few more of your videos, and hit that subscribe button! You are so knowledgeable, so you must have grown up in Manhattan? You have just a trace of a NY accent! Most people wear black in NYC because it matches with their everyday lifestyle and whatever situation they find them selves.
It also happens that most people buy more black outter wear rather than colors they can’t match with.
37:25 Empire State Building is the 4th because the third tallest is “30 HUDSON YARD”. I believe it opened this year or due to be opened.
Also in NYC we only call The borough of Manhattan “The City”. Although all five boroughs are the city, only one is actually call the city.
Most people don’t wait for the crossing signed lights to cross because clearly no one will wait for you and everyone always appear to be in a rush.

I moved away from NYC in 1980 so this is all unfamiliar to me now. I used to walk from Washington Square up either 5th Ave. or Broadway to about 116th (Columbia U) all the time. When I moved away I felt like my heart was torn out and I was bleeding to death, for many years I was on the verge of moving back except things were so dirty and expensive back then it was out of my price range.
