Any player who thinks it's still Laning phase after min 10 is deluded and potentially costing their team the W by not prioritising objectives if in an early Vs late lineup.
The problem i have playing support in my bracket is no one listens to any of my calls, and no one tries to make any calls either. Then when nothing works out because of a lack of communication everyone collectively blames the support.
One thing I've found that works is to pay attention to your core hero timings. Just say "hey mars, I have smoke when you get blink" for example. It lets them know that you're paying attention to what they need and they're more likely to listen to calls in that case. And, as BSJ has said before, if your team doesn't listen, just adapt and do the next best thing you can think of. Another thing about making calls, often your teammates aren't stupid, they're just too focused on their game to notice things. I played a PA carry game the other day and when we were ahead my team called for rosh, and I just said "vacuum wall is scary to fight in pit, let's wait for a pick". My teammates had similar skill relative to mine, they just weren't thinking about what could go wrong at rosh like I did. So in that vein, you don't so much need to make calls as point out information they can use to make better decisions themselves.
i kind of figured out that at lower MMRs there's plenty of aggressive core players but almost all supports are half assed. playing a good support is the way to get out of lower ranks. been gaining about 400mmr the past week playing 2-3 games a day
When you setup these games, does anyone know who you are ahead of time? Or is it like they know you're in the game, but they have no idea what team or what hero?
@Wuggerups Yeah, I mean literally at the beginning of the game after the rune when he was already going at the CM - most low MMR people don't do stuff like that. I will say that I wish he didn't choose one of the more OP heroes in the meta right now, although he didn't go for the radiance build (obviously, as a support). If he's gonna go pos 5, I think it would be way more interesting if he chose a traditional hard support like shadow shaman, or lion for example. I just saw this guy switch which ward he was going to drop. How do you do that?!?!?

In my humble opinion as a divine 4 player, I think a good way to come out of herald is to master 1 mid hero. Be so good at the hero and laning mechanics that you can at least solo kill enemy mid 1 time, then help side lanes, then go back to farm, then kill, then farm then kill.
