      Yeah, it's definitely not the setup for everyone, but I wanted versatility and the ability to build it up more or slim it down. I work on a variety of size shoots, so this was my way of finding a middle ground.

      2 Words….
      Or was that 1 word?
      “You know…. The Thing”
      😂
      Thanks for another excellent video!
      We have been using the “budget friendly” FeelWorld W1000h wireless HDMI (they also have a combo HDMI/SDI model) transmitter/receiver system.
      It’s for our volunteer fire department/rescue squad drone unit and a fraction of the cost of Terradeck.
      Obviously, the Terradeck is for professional use, but we just need a way to send our drone operator’s video over to an incident commander or operations chief.
      We usually require distances of under 500’ and they work very well at those distances.
      The transmitter sends out video/audio to up to 4 receivers simultaneously, but the BEST feature is that the transmitter can also send out video/audio to up to an additional 4 devices, mobile devices running their free viewer app.
      There’s a tiny bit more latency with the app (running on an iPad) vs. the dedicated receiver, but it’s negligible and not noticed in our type of use.
      Btw - we USED to use a 500’ reel of ultra rugged cat -6 STP shielded Ethernet type cable with Radionics encrypted modules on each end. it was nearly perfect video, but dropping the cable was a real pain.

      This specific model is not built in wireless. There are models that SmallHD and Teradek created together that have built in wireless. The downside is, when a new receiver comes out, you have to buy a new monitor/wireless receiver combo, rather than just the monitor OR the wireless receiver. Pros and cons to each:)

  • @OliKember
    @OliKember 4 года назад

    Awesome! I love the cable within the coil idea. Is there any way to mount the Teradek in the centre of that back plate, or does that gap not permit it? Just so it doesn't put undue strain on left or right hands if you're holding it all day? And would it make sense on this setup to offset the weight of the Nucleus on the right, by mounting it left?

    • @EvanPollock
      @EvanPollock  4 года назад +1

      You know I think you could be onto something there! Haha, the main reason I mounted it on the far right (or far left, whichever you prefer) was mainly to allow room for additional future add-ons, in case I wanted to build more into it. Also, it allows for your cables to stick inwards without the possibility of them bulging out on the sides. But honestly, you could mount it center or on the left side to help with the weight in one hand. The only downside of mounting it in the middle is that you won't get that extra security of an additional middle screw. The wooden camera cage is so solid and versatile, you can definitely play around with the orientation and find a way that works better for you. That's what I love about things like this! You can mess around with it until you find something solid that YOU like.

      @@NathanCasares I LOVE this and always use this when shooting with more than a one person crew. Honestly, it's been game changing for my direction, so I can focus on performance of the talent as well as pulling focus. And if I'm solo shooting, but the client is there with me, it becomes their "client monitor" so they can see what's going on on set.
