Funny, I am planning on ordering a flail mower and I’ve seen quite a few reports or the hammers failing. I was in my workshop looking at some scrap train rail I have on hand and thought that I could probably make a hammer out of it. Checked RUclips to see if anyone had already done it and wasn’t disappointed!

Those should last you a long time. Railroad track is some of the best steel out there.👍

Put a lot of trust in the weld good idea though. I’d leave the rail and drill through it. I’m waiting for my mower

Hey man. I have been having A LOT of trouble sourcing the correct size of hammer flail to fit my mower. Would you be willing to make custom blades? I'll pay good money for them if you would.

      What flail do you have?

@@blessed7fold I was looking to find a hammer flail blade with the correct dimensions to fit an Eterra Sidewinder. They only offer Y blades and have an odd ball bolt size and width.

@@wpog8453 That will not work unless the rotor is rebalanced.

@@blessed7fold if it were a fixed tooth mulcher I could see that but using tools that are the same dimensions and weight I don't see the issue. I've seen plenty of flail mowers that allow you to swap between tool options

@@wpog8453 Please inform me what flail mowers allow you to swap between knives without having the rotor rebalanced.

wow... just rinse and repeat 21 more times and keep the weight all the same.

Keep the dimensions close and worst case you can weld some additional material or remove some as needed
