This is an excellent book, I have made the bunny and cat and am busy with the mouse. I bought this author’s doll book this week and can’t wait to start one of the dolls . I have the a Kindle versions and have no complaints at all .
So glad I found your review of this book. I have been looking at it in my local yarn store for the past few weeks and it's now on special, so thought I'd look up some reviews. I was really pleased to find yours, as I love your work. I haven't knitted toys before but am keen to learn and I thought thought this looked a good resource. Thank you!
Great review and I agree with everything - I’m hoping you or your viewers might help me. I started this book during COVID and I’m now working on my fifth animal the owl - I have the original Kindle edition of the book and I’ve come here to find guidance on correcting pattern publishing errors. So, yes I love it but there are errors. There used to be an errata page at boobiloo … but no longer. Specifically, Im stuck on the beak, row six. I have two more stitches than the pattern expects. The beak is a tiny piece so its easy to review if I might have gone wrong but no its the pattern … I just wish that the kindle edition came with errata updates!!!
I found one on the David & Charles site but it doesn't have anything about the owl beak: www.davidandcharles.com/user_uploads/errata/knitted-animal-friends-errata.pdf.pagespeed.ce.pj5XUJFgx0.pdf It might be worth doing some Googling to see if you can find anyone else who has had an issue with that part! 🦉🧶✨
I found this book at the library and love it soooo much. I have just finished the dog and he looks amazing. Planning to knit more of the animals. I am hooked!
I agree about the stitch count at the end of the rows. I also wish she would give the number of stitches that make up the pattern. I found some of the directions counter intuitive. That might be because she is English and I am used to patterns by US designers. It is a beautiful book and the clothes are exquisite!
It makes me feel more confident if I know that I have the correct number of stitches. I'm not a super experienced knitter so I did feel like the directions were clear and you are right the clothes are exquisite!!
I have been on the fence about buying this book because I couldn’t find many well-thought, comprehensive reviews on it, but i think you just convinced me!
Oh I love using this book! I have made the horse with shoes and overalls, the cat with the cable sweater and jogging pants that are on the owl, and the hare with the smocking dress and cute intarsia cardigan-- I don't know if there is an error in the pattern or how I read it, but the carrot on the right side of the sweater came out right next to the button band, so for my next time I will rewrite that part for the pattern so I get white border between the carrot and the button band. Anyway, I am on my 4th animal--a turquoise and cream hare that a friend is paying me to make for her. Excellent book!!!
Hi Ellie Rose crochet!, I've just come across your channel, and love it!. My husband and I knit toys together in our free time. We love making them. I stitch them up, do the embroidery ect. And he stuffs them. Not my favourite job! Lol. But it's fantastic seeing them come to life. That book looks amazing! I have the jean greenhowe collection that we make all of the time. Thanks do much mandy, uk 🇬🇧 new subscriber! Xxx😊
My oldest daughter which is over 40 would love that owl. So, that book would be great for me, my other daughter which is 37 would love the horse. Now I am just a whipper snapper. I am not over the hill as of yet. Just climbing very very slow....haha! 😂
Amazing review. Thank you so much. I have made many of the crochet amigurumi that you have but I am a beginner knitter with only some knowledge of cables. I would love to be able to make these knitted toys one day. I am also a huge fan of owning the beautiful toy pattern books out there and will probably get this book as well. Thanks again. 😊
I'm in the process of knitting the mouse from the book from seeing you feature this book on a previous episode, so thanks for the wealth of information you share with us. Appreciate all the tips you give to help us along the way. And yes the outfits in the book are absolutely gorgeous!!💙
Hey Elise - I have this amazing book and I am currently knitting Dorothy the Mouse and it is a joy!!! I think she may have a comprehensive wardrobe :D xxxxxx
I want to buy this book but I am so new to knitting and I am so intimidated! I bought some super basic baby toy patterns to try first. But its on my list one day! I hope you make more of them they are so cute!
I thought this book was awesome. I bought the e-book on amazon but after watching your video I bought a hard copy because it is so hard to navigate the pages. It is a book with a lot of pages and many different animals. I subscribed :0 Thanks for the info. I am new to knitting animals but love it more than anything else I have tried.
Thank you so much for subscribing! I totally know the feeling! Knitting toys is one of my very favorite activities! I also think having a hard copy of this book is beneficial. There's so much good information and it's nice to be able to jump back and forth. 🦉
I got this book with the recommendation from my cousin in the UK who makes these adorable felted animals. (Luna Lapin and friends). Someone suggested that the outfits from this book will work with those dolls. She is not a knitter so I offered my services. These outfits are absolutely crazy cute. I just wish there was a little more support as these are not beginner's patterns. Thank you for your video, very nicely done. As far as your con, I have a set of interchangeable needles so the only one that was missing from my set was the 3.0 mm (US 2.5). I did not originally purchase the suggested yarn and found I wasn't able to match her gauge exactly with the needles she uses. Hopefully I will be able to use a smaller size to work.
Oh I've seen those Luna Lapin dolls! So so cute! The knitting definitely isn't for beginners but really dive into the resources of that book. It is a gold mine of information. I also find it helpful when looking over a pattern to read sections of it first and then making sure I understand it before beginning knitting. I can look up anything I don't quite understand. I hope that makes sense. I was actually looking at interchangeable needles and that may be my next investment. I would love to have them all!

Hello! You may just need to experiment and see what works. Any time you alter a pattern, even by using a different yarn you will likely need to see what works and what doesn't work! Good luck! 💗
Nice review. Save money on needles and save yourself a load of grief with DPNs by getting interchangeable needles and cables. You can then knit flat or in the round. There are tons of magic loop videos out there and you can knit tiny circumferences with them.
@@EliseRoseCrochet I have KnitPro. They’re reasonably priced and do the job. Also they are not too sharp, which is an advantage ias I knit Norwegian style. If you know you’re going to use one size a lot, I would opt for a fixed circular because then you know you won’t have any issues with needles working loose (you just have to tighten them up again but it can be a bit annoying). My favourite combo is using two fixed circulars rather than magic loop I do like to have a sharp chiaogoo needle in a smaller size for picking up small stitches ….as you can see, there is always an excuse for shelling out a bit more money for equipment.

I want to buy the books but i have zero knowledge about knitting n moreover i have no idea how to read the pattern and do.. plz help me out
I would wait to buy them until you have a solid understanding of knitting. One place to start is RUclips or even a local yarn shop. I have a newer video sharing some of my favorite beginner resources: ruclips.net/video/DhOi7YnvI0M/видео.htmlsi=0-yBCZ5UTxL5QF27 ❤️❤️❤️
I'm so sorry it was a disappointment. I didn't find those types of errors with the English version. 🧶🧶🧶
how much your crochet needle
I honestly don't remember. So sorry. 💛
Can you tell me how to do m1r
I do not understand instructions
Look up videos for how to Make 1 Right and Make 1 Left on RUclips. There are a lot of great video tutorials! Hope that helps! 🧶🧶🧶
There are mistakes in both books but there is a separate errata that is online.
Thank you so much for sharing!! ❤️

Thank you
You are so welcome!
The book is great I made the dog also have the doll book
The dog is sooo cute!! I saw the doll book too! So many cute patterns, so little time!! 😂😂😂
I have this book and made the mouse..problem I have figuring out how to sew head to body.
Sewing the pieces on is always the hardest part!
@@EliseRoseCrochet
I can't find the instructions for sewing the head on. Perhaps I'm missing where is. Thanks for helping.
@@shermarandall9437 I don't have the book right with me, but have you checked in the back? There's a lot of great information about knitting toy techniques.
@@EliseRoseCrochet I reread that section again and I don't see the information.
I've 65 years experience knitting and crocheting. And find that one can never know it all. Time to make it work. Thanks
@@shermarandall9437 I don't do anything special to sew it on, I just try to sew it taut enough to not let the seams show. And when I don't like the result, I just take it out and redo it. Many times, it is just trial and error for me. Hope yours turns out beautiful!
Thank you for yet another lovely video! This books seems amazing, I will check it out. You did a beautiful job on that owl!
I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and I've been really loving it, your videos are such high quality and are always really informative and beautifully shot! I've been an avid knitter myself for a long time and I have always shied away from crocheting because it seemed intimidating to learn something new but you have me convinced, your toys are so lovely! :)
Thanks so much for the lovely compliment! Crocheting is much simpler than knitting! It will most likely take some getting used to only holding one hook but otherwise it's fairly simple!
Would like the sizes
Or the measurements thank you ,greatful to have this book
Hello! Do you want the measurement of the owl? Meaning the size of the height? 💛💛💛
😻😻😻😻
💛💛💛
I struggling on the owls ears there coming out more fan like, rather than triangular... I donk know what I'm doing wrong
Hmmm, it's been a long time since I knit that pattern. I wonder if you need to pinch the ears by hand a little to make them more pointy?? 💛
@@EliseRoseCrochet Thanks, I figured it out they need to be folded and sewn to give them that triangular shape, Thsnks for replying.
@@deboraholoughlin5678 Oh good! I'm so glad you were able to figure it out!
