Here is a demonstration of a very fine Pre-Owned piano from PianoWorks. The Germans are renowned for their top-quality craftsmanship in all things, especially pianos. This 6' Schimmel model SP182T was made in late 1996 and purchased locally in 1999. After having an easy life, this piano is ready for a new owner.
Every aspect is pristine, the action precise, the voicing even and clear yet warm.

Back in my day as sales staff for Schimmel, the gran that moved the most (off the sales floor) was the model 174T Black high polish. I suppose this model is the successor to the 174?

Yes, the SP182 replaced the SP174, though there was some overlap in the mid-1990's. As nice as the SP174 was, the SP182 was better. The SP182 was shuffled around with the introduction of the Konzert series grands in the early 2000's. While the current Konzert series grands are an upgrade, the SP182 was often better than the Classic series of comparable size, IMO.

@@PianoWorksAtlanta what do you mean by overlap? I just got a 1995 Schimmel grand piano, and I believe it's a 174, but the only one similar to it I've been able to find online is a 182.

@@FryChicken By overlap, I mean that there were a few years where both the 174 and 182 were available. In at least one piece of Schimmel literature, I saw a reference to a 176 from the mid-1990's. The 176 was, if anything, a minor, late alteration of the 174. We sold a 5'9" Schimmel Diamond edition from 1995 not long ago. I think it was designated a 176, but either is possible.

@@PianoWorksAtlanta Ah snap. I thought you meant an upgrade in quality or something. Mine has the orange/gold harp. I want to bring it to as good a spec as possible. I hope I won't get saddled with buyer's remorse, but I got my 174 for $6500, so hopefully I did decently well.

@@FryChicken I don't know enough about your particular instrument, but that would be a low price if the condition is truly excellent. It would be worth having a top technician spend a few days bringing it to its peak performance. Excellent condition + Excellent service can make that piano truly shine. Any Schimmel SP174's we had always sold for well over $10k in our store (a few over $15k).

what recording device are you using? Thank you!

Not sure which model, but it was recorded with a small Zoom portable device...either a H4, H2n or Q3. The secret is the technique used, and that remains a secret.
