I watch loads of leather working videos. Most just barely touch the surface of how to’s. I subbed to you and only you because you are, in my opinion, the best of the best on RUclips for teaching leather work. Please keep up the great work. Many thanks Steven
One of the best wet molding videos I’ve seen the close up was really helpful awesome vid I think I’m gonna make a wet molded belt pouch for my turkey call and striker 🤙🤙
great job i wet mold a lot, i am going to try this way. but just wondering if this i pouch is it natural color or did you put a finish on it. love your work. take care
Just pulled the trigger on some 2.5-3 Oz veg tan leather. Sadly, they only had 26sqft 🙈 I couldn’t justify paying 1/5 for about 1/25 of the size, so I just went with the big one... really looking forward! And your videos are a blessing in the current situation to not get bored!
Excellent video! Note however that boiling leather was likely not the method used for armor! It creates very brittle leather. Oven heating seems to be the best method
I used oil pull-up leather Veg Tan leather but after getting dry leather was a little soft... I tried to mold a cigarette box. But failed.. can you suggest me how to make it hard after dry
Well well well, when I put on ma leather, and rock to sum Metallica, Delta Parole, Foo Fighters or the Smashing Pumpkins I feel like I can do anything in the whole wide world.
Clear, calm and direct as usual, with attention to detail. I like you showing mistakes a well, like when the bone folder went off course a little, as you also show how to rectify it. Wasn't explained but was still clear. Sometimes I just listen to your videos as I work, sets a good pace and so calming and focusing. Corter Leather is my go-to and I'd say the best on RUclips. Thank you for sharing your experience.
I know you get a lot of compliments about your ASMR vids, but I really love it when you talk--I like to play vids like this as I'm working in the shop, so I'm listening instead of watching the whole time. And this is just a lovely vid! Thank you so much!
Good tutorial. Great close up shots. Thanks. Also, does the veg tan dye up the same after you've done that to it? I was thinking it might be a fun way to add pockets to a pack or bag. Thanks again.
Hello and thank you for your informative Video. I have pull up leather and want to make a binder. But i don't know if it works with this sort of leather, because is full of wax. The Leather is really flappy. I want it more harder but not too hard on the side, but not on the back, to open and close the binder. How i can do that? The binder should be one peace and not three peaces of 2 peace hart and 1 flexible. Can i put the water on section of the leather? Can i damage the leather if my project are finish and later if i use it that damage on the edge where the hard section goes into the flexible section? Loose the Leather after the threatment the characteristic of pull up? I think so, can i do the same "pull up leather care" like before after the threatment? Sorry for my english. I hope you understand it.
I know this is an older video, but THANK YOU. I've been trying to design an external pocket for a bag and this exact thing just solved an enormous headache I've been trying to solve for days.
Reading the comments made me realize how lucky i was to pick your video as my first leather forming video. Will check out a few more and hope i find the answers i am looking for 😉 Leave an comment if you look at the video. The algorithm 😇
You've probably answered this in another video but I'm wondering if you can oil or wax this leather after wet molding? I want to make a handgun holster with an additional pocket (both wet molded ) but want it to keep its shape if it gets wet while out in the field. By the way I'm subscribing to your channel this is the first video I've watched and love the content.
It’s better to just case the leather with a spray bottle... over wetting just makes the leather get too hard... if you do soak the leather leave ten minutes before moulding.
How do you get and lay a straight stitch line after this? And how do you cut straight edges? This is what I am struggling with especially with weird shapes.
Hey! I had a question about a product offering on your website. I sent you a message through your website on Friday, I hope you guys get back too me soon!
If you want to decorate a little. My I suggest burning the leather with a "wood" burning pen. On a lower heat setting. This looks pretty good in my opinion.
After watching your last video I was thinking you stopped giving commentary and luckily you didn't stop!!! Please give commentary in all the videos so we will get more information.
Question: if you have made something with tooling patterns, then dyed and applied antique finish - can you still wet mold your leather? (I have a simple knife sheath)
I have done this with knife sheaths. But I don't submerge the leather. I just pour some down the inside of the sheath the put the knife in and mould it by hand.
It is a 4-5 oz vegetable tan leather. He specifically said it was herman oak brand as well. The provided links in the description to Weaver leather which sponsored the video.
I really liked this video, thank you. I've been cleaning soiled leather holsters with isopropyl alcohol and a brush followed by a water rinse. I did also read years ago to use isopropyl to mold with. Would that deteriorate the leather or destroy the integrity of it in any way? So far it is the quickest easiest way I've found to actually clean and sterilize an inside the waistband holster...think years of sweat, and body oil buildup 🤢🤢..... id genuinely appreciate any input. Thanks👍
Hey, commentary brings your videos to the next level! Please continue and thank you for your hard work for all of us!
Couldn't agree more

Supposed to be asleep, I have work in the morning.
At least I will watch this and have lovely dreams about high end leather wallets tonight.
Well done! Exactly what I needed to know. Just starting with leatherwork, so I love these task-specific tutorials. Thanks so much!

Good job breather 👍👍👍

It was helpful to review the moulding process 😊
Why not soak the leather facing down? I feel like it’ll soak up faster with the porous side up so bubbles can escape faster.🤷🏻♂️
Beautiful Simplistic Tutorial

Great Tutorial. Your verbal instructions and visuals are very helpful. Thank You for taking the time to make this video.
You mention leather. Does this work with faux leather, too?
I know you get a lot of compliments about your ASMR vids, but I really love it when you talk--I like to play vids like this as I'm working in the shop, so I'm listening instead of watching the whole time. And this is just a lovely vid! Thank you so much!
Clear instruction that is easy to understand.
you know, if you wet leather and keep it wet, it will mold on its own. ;)
This was super helpful, thanks a ton! 🙇🏼♀️💖
Ok lets do this Corter 😃
Good tutorial. Great close up shots. Thanks. Also, does the veg tan dye up the same after you've done that to it? I was thinking it might be a fun way to add pockets to a pack or bag. Thanks again.
you can dye it after :) Some people also dunk leather in dye and use the moisture from the dye to wet mold as well, though I"ve never done it that way
@@Corter Thanks!
@@Corter That sounds like a lot of dye!
what thickness leather was this?
Great video, and the sharpie gives a nice smooth, flat area for stitching after.

Wow, I wonder if you wet a pre loved louis vuitton if you could get the shape back. Don't freak out any one! 😂
how thin of leather can you use

Has anyone thought of vacuum sealing over a mold? Sounds like it would work if you were able to hold it in the right spot
Awesome job done ... your video simplified my doubts and made my idea come to life. Regards 🙏
Your videos really helped me alot. Thank you so much.
Thanks all your videos. Really informative. Keep up the excellent work.
How do you get and lay a straight stitch line after this? And how do you cut straight edges? This is what I am struggling with especially with weird shapes.
Have you ever considered making a video of a belt mounted holster for an iPhone or a Samsung mobile phone?
Very specific and detailed ... even I can understand it! :)
excellent tutorial thank you!
Hola no hablo inglés pero me gustaría saber donde puedo comprar tus productos desde Mexico
Hey! I had a question about a product offering on your website. I sent you a message through your website on Friday, I hope you guys get back too me soon!
I have a question. Do you stamp and tool you leather before or after you wet mold?
Halo. Is full grain leather could be molding wet too ?
can you wet mold a face mask? leather face mask with filter insert
MANY - MANY - THANKS
Great tutorial. Can you tool the leather before wet molding it? Will it retain the details afterwards?
You can tool and carve, but best to stay away from areas that may get stretched a lot during the moulding.
If you want to decorate a little. My I suggest burning the leather with a "wood" burning pen. On a lower heat setting. This looks pretty good in my opinion.
Hello.
What thickness must have the leather to molded?
yawl dont needa usea sucha large a piece.

Amazing thank u for sharing your work

Very helpful..thank you!
After watching your last video I was thinking you stopped giving commentary and luckily you didn't stop!!!

We do both styles :) we like making the quiet ones too
Will it be with any leather? please answer me.
I like using the end of my edge slicker rather than a sharpe
I could hear you got hungry around 5:52 through 5:55. Hahaha
Vacuum sealing is better and faster
What thickness is your leather?
What leather do you use and where can I buy it?
Thanks
Great detailed tutorial, thanks so much!

Try to made POCHETTE VOLGA LV *-*

Ok if I'm decorating the area do I do that before or after wet molding?
If you're talking about tooling the leather, I do that after the wet molding dries and sets. Use a sponge to damp the area you're going to tool.
It was helpful

Using the bone molder to correct the mistake is the best part. Man you guys are killing the videos.
I wish he'd given commentary on that. That's how you know you've advanced, you not only make the mistakes, but you know how to fix it.
