Thank you for this beautiful story. This shows what amazing people can do... but then when I see someone not liking this it also shows that we have a lot to learn.

Seriously, right?!?! Someone needs to find these miserable souls and give them a hug, and put them on deck of a sailboat like 'Impossible Dream', these people need to be inspired again. It's gotta be a lonely place to not feel compelled to smile watching a story like this.

What an incredible video I just watched, I had a stroke 1 year ago and I am now paralyzed in my left leg. I am 78 years old and will be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. I have been pretty depressed since I realized that was my lot but having just watched the video I now realize that there is life after a stroke and I feel a lot better now. I hope that one day I will be able to sail out across the ocean just a few kilometers from my home even if it is for one day only. Thank you that.

I'm on a ball at Dinner Key, where Shake a Leg is. I was here when Erma hit and saw what it did to Shake a Leg. it nearly took out the whole of their fleet. but, with the help of some great people, it's back to business for them. helping many people and kids.
I was hit by a car while on my motorcycle. I'm mostly metal now, but I am here and on my two feet. im currently building my own boat here to get out and adventure.
I love seeing these organizations out there letting people realize their dreams of getting on the water.
Thank you for showing people that life is possible. no matter your circumstances.

Thank you for sharing this video! I know it’s over a year old, but I’ve been binge watching and just got to it. My youngest son is disabled. Was born with Spina Bifida, and the kid has had six major surgeries to date, he turns 8 in September. He has been an inspiration for me as nothing gets him down. Lately I’ve renewed my interest in getting a boat and just sailing. It’s always been a dream of mine, but other things in life have always taken priority. After my wife’s untimely death from a car accident, I’ve been thinking it’s time to start making plans, and living life to the fullest. To get my boys out and live, to see things, and spend as much time together as possible. Seeing this boat has put some fears to rest that it can be done and have my youngest with me. All my kids are great wonderful people, and this gave me ideas on how to accommodate my Jude. We’re currently in Ohio, but I’m thinking Florida will be our destination, then buying a boat, getting it fixed up, and making it handicappable. Yes it’s not a real word, but there’s one thing I’ve learned from watching my son, and that is nothing can stop him or others like him, they are some of the strongest human beings alive with their will, determination, and shear joy to be around. God bless you two and stay safe.

Never give up mate. It is the ability what counts.
I was paralyzed waist down in abparagliding accident in NZ in 1997. Doctors told me to never walk again.
Learned to walk with sticks and still getting slowly better.
Last year I bought my first sailing boat, 9 metre cruising catamaran which I have now sailed with various crews and single handed too.

And those kids....Oh My....This made me teary eyed, and I'm sure that you, Dan and Kika, were also moved by what you saw. Please be proud of what you have given us to watch.

Having discovered Uma late in her journey, I'm now here, having begun as you lived in the boat yard.. then following along, step by step. Where will these steps take me? In joy and with growing confidence in her navigation, I find (just here) the unfolding of your collective talents and the sharing of all you encounter to be a destination. This one step cinched my lines. You were out of the frame, but your hand and (he)art were everywhere. The past 19 minutes served up a spectacular expression of everything that (if I may be permitted the privilege of presumption) you were made to do in that moment: being here, now... and taking us along.
For me, many more steps to follow and, it is realized, to soon lead. We build upon the hard work and the many choices. There is only one way to fail: should I not put a full heart into it.
I cannot say this with fewer words. Hopefully, these are enough. Thank you both.

Dislikes? What? An important and inspiring story told so very well. Be proud of this. I never leave comments (It's ok. Judge me), but I felt utterly compelled to let you know what a great job you did on this. Love your channel already, but I'm becoming a Patreon because of this video. This type of work needs to be encouraged. I hope many others do the same.

I have twins in their 30's born with Down Syndrome.... I just bought a 16 ft sailboat and I hope to get them engaged in sailing. You are an inspiration to us all.

It seems like we're constantly bombarded with how divisive and ugly the world is, but stories like this show you how beautiful it can be. Love it! Thank you for sharing!

By far my favorite episode as it means so much to me. Thanks Sailing Uma for doing this. I watch all of your other episodes but this one I relate to the most. I was paralyzed in 2016 with a left brachial plexus injury. I'm a true single-handed sailor only having the use of my left hand. We are actually picking up our first sailboat tomorrow to start sailing as a family. It will be interested to see what challenges we'll have to overcome. Thanks for the inspiration. - Banjoe, Traveler crew

I know right!!?? I was holding the camera by hand for the interviews and sometimes my arm was getting sore, and I was like....stop complaining Dan...you're filming someone in a wheelchair!! Give one a new perspective on life for sure.

It brought a tear to my eye to see the joy in the faces of passengers and crew. I can only imagine the challenges but the rewards are enormous.

Congratulations guys this is best of the best I've seen since I follow your blog. I'm a Rehab MD running a paraplegic and cuadriplejic unit here in Mexico among with other fine doctors. I'm near from retiring to live aboard with my wife on our sailboat and often I dream how I could share with my patients the beauty that nature gives us for free every day. This should give me some ideas. Thanks guys for showing me this wonderful people doing real things out there.

Why in the world does this video have 50 dislikes? it is inconceivable to me how such a beautiful story can strike someone in a negative way; to give a dislike to a young coupe sailing, making amazing vlog style videography and short documentary style videography on important subjects such as disability awareness, misconceptions of Haiti, and complete transparency with the places they visit so the viewer can learn and hopefully pass on the knowledge, etc only to name a few things. This was a beautiful story.

Best video I’ve watched in RUclips...hands down! Amazing story...so revealing in knowing that the impossible resides only in our minds. Congrats to UMA and Impossible Dream!

This is by far your best video you ever made and always will be. I have a very good wish to the 45 persons (morons) that gave it a thumbs down (???) and that is, that I wish all of you the best in your "future" wheelchair. I had a sailboat and at 55 got a wheelchair as God's gift, I got rid of the boat, it was a Hunter 23 too small to keep (you can't stand up in those...imagine getting to the can!!...LOL), but I still dream about returning to the H2O even at 70. it's in your blood. This video made me cry and I usualy never do, never. I knew about the Impossible Dream, but getting this video from you, Dan & Kika, I never expected that, I love you both and know you are super great, please don't ever change. OK, now to step 122. Covid got me here, and in 5 days from step 1 to this super video, you guys did something right or is that starboard? Ok starboard. By the way you only got 121 thumbs up from me so far, this one is going to be hard to beat, but I think you will manage, I'm sure. Stay safe and take care.

Kika and Dan, I have found your you tube channel a month ago and have been binge watching. This is by far the best video. I was in a bad accident years ago and didn't think I would ever be "normal" again. (I'm better now). It was very touching to people over come set backs. I really don't know what to say. I love what you do. keep it up because its not always about "me".
btw I'm still binge watching. love and the best to you.

Thank you so much for using your platform to share this inspirational story. We spent much of it in tears, being wowed by humankind's ability to transcend limitations and solve problems through determination and outstanding design. Quite apart from the amazing content, I really appreciated the quality of the film-making, and also the editorial decision to dial back your own screen time and make this about the crew and passengers of Impossible Dream. Bravo!
