    Thank you for your very informative video. I finally got funding to purchase the program for my TK and K learners and needed to know what everything was for. You clarified quite a bit for me. Again, thank you.

    Haha! I love your personality! Just got HWT for my kindergartener and hopped on RUclips to see which workbook I should start with (I got a few). Thanks for all the information, now I feel like I need to go all out and buy the whole shebang!

    You are so funny!
    I didn’t buy anything but the workbooks, a few years ago. It’s a good curriculum but not necessary to teach kids to write. But totally up to the parent and what they like and want to teach! 👍🏻

    I hate chalk too! I thought I was the only one. It's a sensory thing. I learned that after I had a sensory child begin occupational therapy. I also loathe paper straws and the wooden spoon they used to include in ice cream cups. Solidarity and I'm curious to know if we Burton's are related.

    How long did your kids use the program? I have three kids and I think I will need it for all of the years they have available. I am just on the fence on whether or not to buy books for each of them or have them use our protective pockets. Any input on individual books vs reused would be appreciated. I thank you for your time and videos!

      Kids are all different. My 7 year old is doing 4th grade+ level of advanced handwriting in another curriculum, but I keep having to go down a level or TWO for my 5.5 year old. From what I can tell, this particular curriculum is for extremely basic, fundamental occupationally therapeutic skills...perfect for my 5yr old.

    Is there a preschool teacher guide or not necessary?

    Love your channel! I am new to homeschooling so your videos are extremely helpful! What do you recommend for a 4.5 year old? The Prek or Kinder curriculum??

    • @BurtonFamily
      @BurtonFamily  5 лет назад +3

      Thank you so much!! Hmmm, you could probably do either, and not go wrong. But keep in mind the pre-k does not go into lowercase letters. If you’re not planning on starting kindergarten until next year, I might consider slowing down and doing the pre-k, simply because, they will be writing sentences toward the end of the kindergarten book, so if you’re not that far along in reading/phonics yet, that might feel frustrating to be writing something they can’t actually read. My suggestion would be to go look at the table of contents for both. My kindergartener finished the K book way too quickly, and now isn’t quite ready for the 1st grade book, so I kind of wish I would have done it a little slower. But overall, LOVE HWT. Of all the curriculums we’ve used across all subjects, HWT is absolutely my favorite.

    Thanks so much for the video! Did you feel like you needed the little pencils or do you think regular pencils will work?

    • @BurtonFamily
      @BurtonFamily  3 года назад +1

      Im pretty sure my kids have mostly just used regular pencils, I haven’t watched this video in a while so that might not be true. Oh, the HWWT pencils, no, I don’t think I ever bought those.

    • @jbadaniels
      @jbadaniels 2 года назад +3

      Speaking from the perspective of an occupational therapist, the HWT pencils are useful for developing “in hand manipulation” ie fine motor skills. The curriculum has you ask the kids flip the pencils from one end to the other while in their hand. The other purpose for the “little” pencils” is that little hands need little tools. Golf pencils are a nice substitute, or just have the kids use old pencils that have been sharpened down so they are smaller. If they still have an eraser on them you could substitute flipping to use the eraser to practice erasing.

      You don’t have to buy all the manipulatives. I got single kits for my 3 kids. It was under $200 for all of my 3 kids.
