    While definitely spoiled, Charlotte loved Tiana. She did not have to get to know the daughter of her seamstress but she did and she kept that relationship strong even after they grew from children. Tiana is her first to go to when it comes to good news and she gave Tiana an excessive amount of money for the beignets, knowing that she would only accept it from work. She actually smiled and cheered when she saw how happy Tiana was at getting her restaurant before making a quick escape with her father. Then at the ball, she didn’t assume Tiana messed everything up and expressed explicit concern at her distress. PLUS she had a blue dress when we all know Charlotte lives in pink exclusively, so she definitely held onto it for Tiana. Then there was the ending where she gave her own desire to be a princess because she recognized that Tiana found love and knowing how Tiana is, it was not an easy thing.
    Charlotte rocks.

      Here’s an interesting fact! Lottie Might be a voodoo spirit reincarnation! Most Loa (voodoo spirits) are based on African/Caribbean deities, BUT there are exceptions, one notable is a European noblewoman based who was kind to the black people, and remembered as a loa, she is associated with sweet things like drinks(Lottie is the daughter of a sugar Baron)
      Rewards those who are hardworking, and associated with the color pink!
      Now most of it might be coincidence, and I might be grasping at straws, except it makes sense, when the loa’s name was Mademoiselle Charlotte

    You know what I love about Lottie? Despite being spoiled by her father she still has a heart of gold. In so many pieces of media the rich kid is often portrayed as snooty and rotten, but Lottie here, while acting somewhat selfish from time to time does what's right even if it means not getting her happy ending. Also, here's a couple of fun facts about how good of a friend she is toward Tiana: When Tiana says she's close to getting the restaurant she wants, knowing she's a hard worker and wouldn't accept a handout, Lottie asks her to make a ton of her desserts for the party and pays for them. And when she gives Tiana the dress, notice how it's blue and fits her perfectly. Lottie is obviously a fan of pink, so it would only make sense that she had the dress made for Tiana so she would have something nice to wear.

    Charlotte would definitely GIVE Tiana the money for her restaurant if she asked but I think she's very aware of how hard working she is and possibly how important it is to Tiana that she gets the restaurant on her own merits and that's probably why she doesn't bring it up to her. If I remember correctly there was a scraped backstory for Facilier that he was Mama Odie’s son but was greedy and took the easy way with dark voodoo and left the Bayou. If thats true it they could have aded like a 5 minute flashback would have been a great counter to Tiana’s honest hardworking self.

    • @numbernumber25
      @numbernumber25 2 года назад +14

      I am just making a guess but I believe that Facilier also was the person that outbid Tiana for the building that she was going to use for her restaurant. I believe he was in the cafe at the same time as her and he possibly over heard about it. Which was still at morning time so he could have followed Tiana then headed to the proper department to offer the full amount. Assuming that Facilier has been doing this for a long time he actually could have the entire amount or he just used voodoo to make a deal with them.

    Facilier Is Such A Charismatic Villain, It's Easy To See Why He's A Favorite Amongst Disney Fans

  • @joshuaseagondollar2495
    @joshuaseagondollar2495 2 года назад +73

    Dr. Facilier is one of my favorite Disney villains.
    Though his backstory is very vague, you get the sense from that conversation with Lawrence that he grew up poor, and that caused him to turn to black magic to try to scheme his way to riches.
    Not only that, but even with his magic his greatest weapon is always his charisma and how he draws you in to make a deal with him. He even manages to make sound like he sympathizes, and even respects Tiana's dream during the temptation segment, to the point where she almost considered taking the deal for a moment.
    That and his theme song is just *chef's kiss* best villain song Disney ever made.
    Also fun fact, originally Dr. Facilier was going to be revealed to be Mama Odie's son who turned to the dark side, and they were going to have a big magic battle in the climax, but they decided against it in the end.

    Its amazing that lottie was a great friend and not too spoiled. Since it looks like tiana's mother was not only a hired seamstress but a caretaker for lottie. Lottie couldn't just GIVE her the money for her resturaunt. It was looked down on and tiana would have rejected it anyways unless it was work related.

    When Facilier promises "green"in Naveen's future, the money is in the shape of a lily pad.
    "I wonder if theres any backstory to this character too!" Fanfic writers: "It's free real estate!" (Though I think Word of God say he was an apprentice to Mama Odie before turning to the darker kind of Loa(or "Friends on the Other Side").

    Post 1: i got to tell you I love Tianna and Charlotte’s friendship. They are complete opposites but they enjoy spending time with each other and are supportive of each other. While Charlotte did use her dad’s money for Tianna’s beneigts, it led to Tianna buying her restaurant. Even when Charlotte was having fun with the prince, she immediately stopped and helped her best friend. She even have her a pretty dress that suited her. I hate films where friends give the other friend an ugly dress because insecurity. Charlotte didn’t do this. The best part is Charlotte sacrificed her dream of marrying a prince seeing how happy Tianna and Naveen were and was resentful about it.
    Tianna did not call her friend anti-feminist (whatever term they used in the 20s) for going after the prince. She was happy for her. She did not make her guilty for being privileged either.
    This is why they are one of my favorite Disney friendships. They added to the feminism of the film.
