I have this car. It's one of the best vehicles I've owned. Problems? None really. I think it had been looked after. Long term? Well the engine is driven by a rubber band rather than a chain, and as it was so cheap it makes no sense getting that replaced. Only electrical niggle is the buzzer that tells me the lights are left on. It usually doesn't work, which has led to flat batteries. But seriously? After twenty years use on British roads? I'm impressed.
I also have this car, everything works perfectly, apart from the wing mirror folding motor, small niggle for such a reliable car which has never left me down and is turning 20 years old this year. Strong 2.0 HDI engine. Very underrated in England and not many left to be seen.
I do have a Citroën Xsara 1.6 from 2002, i do enjoy it, My first ever car. Had it in almost 1 year now, I do drive it from and to Work 155 Miles away. No problems at all.
@@TifarahL no haha sold it after a year to a friend...after a year or so he crashed into a 40 cm high pole while reversing 🤨 she lasted till' MOT and was then sold I believe for parts or scrap..
411.000 km. Echt!
@@netako You tell me. I crashed back in February on twisty bit of road and at about 50kph. The road got somewhat wet and the car started spinning and I could only watch. Thankfully I didn't get hurt neither crashed against someone else, but I'll never know if it was the rear axle wear or not. I should have payed more attention to it.
so I have a problem with mine its a (2001 1.6i) whenever I press the gas pedal at the slightest touch, the engine revs to 2100 rpm. What do you think is the problem??
sometime the electric motor for the admission get filled with tons of shits and can make these problems, or make it not hold idle. it's an easy fix, two screws to undo and one cable, then clean it carefully with some wd40 and a tissue, and it should be ok ;)

How many years have you been driving, I'm 39 years old and I don't know anything about driving, it's really very sad
My friend what about 2002 xara facelift 1.4 petrol? Is it good one to have honestly?

I will buy my first car, maybe tomorrow, maybe Tuesday. It's a Citroen Xsara Exclusive edition 1.8L 90hp ;)

Mooi filmpje.
Nice review, pretty much covered everything. Thank you. Shame you didn't mention whether it has cruise control or not as that's why I watched it

Very good review, well presented.
i've heard that the problem with the axle affects ZX's too which I think these were largely based off.
Jup, same for the peugeot 306 :)
It seems to be worse on the Xsara than on the ZX though. Not sure of the 306.
How can you perceive that the rear axles are having issues? My ZX passed the MOT but I'm still curious.
@@utubeleplague I have a 306, and the rear axle issue is definitely noticeable when you drive a bit too fast around a corner on wet roads.

To me Xsara (1.6 16v) is between Toyota Corolla 1.6 16v and Vauxhall Astra 1.6 16v.
This channel is amazing! The perspectives are really nice! ;D Is there a possibility for more content upload? :D
We just got another car in (it's a bit of an addiction). More to come soon.
What is up with that road?
its depressed and contemplating it's role in modern society and is it worthy enough to exist.
I have this car and the rear problem deffinetly exists
