It is an absolute bomb of a tent... I also have the 1 man version, and they have both endured a proper hammering on the top of the peak district hills. I would put it up against the akto/ zephyros/ scarp/ Abiskp tents any day of the week...
Just did a video in the lakes with it, well impressed. 50mph gusts and constant rain, Im very impressed and dry as a bone,
Thanks for for comment

I've heard a lot of positives regarding this tent Bruce, looking forward to seeing how you get on with it.
I have also brought a new tent recently, A Wild country Helm compact 1, yet to use it, weather not loonking so good this weekend so I may head out:)
Happy New Year
Sandy
I have that tent Sandy....lightweight, easy to pitch, and coming from a good pedigree of tent maker Terra Nova, I think you'll enjoy it, happy camping.
Regards
Alan
Im done with struggling with 1 man tents, I dont want to dislocate a hip putting my socks on, lol
I did look at the helm, its a solid tent and rare to find a dome tent that pitches with the inner so you can put it up in a rainstorm, its just a bit low inside for me much like the zeyphos2,
gonna take it to the lakes Friday and see how it does
happy new year Sandy

@@KingsTLC Hi Alan, hope your keeping well. I'm looking forward to trying out the helm1. I also brought a Snugpak ionosphere for fairer weather stealth camping
That's an awesome design.
The ventilation looks very well thought out.
New camera is working out well, just need to hold the camera a little lower when walking and talking to it 😉👍
yeah its very hard to film with a camera and not point it at stuff , as all that is done in post,
Im getting better at it ...I think

Can't wait to see how well the tent does
Never understood those who worry about the weight. Example; say you've got your rucksack packed and it's coming in bang on your perfect weight but includies a tent of only 1.4 kg. Imagine you put your pack on and someone slips in an extra 1kg. You'd be none the wiser. Even if you could tell the difference, how does going from say 10kg to to 11kg go from "spot on" to "ooh that's too heavy"?. You put on 1kg everytime you eat a meal. Give me a heavier tent that can take the abuse over a weedy ultralite everytime. Perhaps some people should get fitter and stronger and save a bucket load of cash instead of buying even a hilleberg which would probably fare no better in strong winds and is four times the price. I've spent the last six months deliberating over which tent to buy. Very nearly pressed the button on a Terra Nova Pioneer 2 but felt that in a strong wind there would be too much pressure where the fly clips the poles and not enough of the clips to spread the load. Considering the great ventilation, material strength, multiple/double clips, HH rating, wind resistance and price, this tent is simply in a league of it's own.
Thats a really good point, there are plenty of other ways of shaving weight off your pack weight before your tent needs to be considered, swich from beer to spirits for instance 😂.
Its all about just getting out there to have fun without going bankrupt,

@WildGingerBruce Thanks for your reply, Bruce, some two years since you did this review. Good to see still you're keeping tabs on comments. Also good to hear someone like yourself with wild-camping experience agrees. I'm only a newbie but the tent weight thing just seemed to be a really big deal with so many others, quite needlessly so. Keep up the good work!
@marcwelstand6791 just look at the fat guys in the office buying a 4k carbon fiber road bike and dressing in w womans swimsuit to save weight, instead of putting the fork down 😂😂😂
Looks a good buy
gonna go for a few solos in the lake district this weekend and give it a good test, hopefully the weather isn't too nice , lol
happy new year mate

When you wrap the line around the pole, make sure you loop it back over the top of the line and not under it.
This way, it locks the line in place and stops it from sliding down the pole.
Nice little review, though doesn't look like my sort of tent. I did like your co-stars!
Very interesting shelter I've got one kind of like it made by eureka. I changed out the pegs don't know why they give you such cheap pegs give the cost. Cheers.
Loving the ventilation. But. 2.4kgs? Do you think Is it worth the extra weight compared to something like the Lanshan?
Lanshans are over priced Chinese copy of a zpacks duplex tent, yes its light but will be flat in any strong wind.
Ive just filmed a video up in the lake district with 50mph wind and driving rain all night, the robens took it like a champ, its tested to 160kph wind. Its also very solidly built so will last for years, there is no comparison between the two tents they are both specifically made for a task,
Ultralight summer treking, or tough reliable tent that can take some abuse.
2.4 is not a heavy tent. A terra nova quazar is a bombproof mountain tent, but it 4kg and £800
They all have a place, its just deciding what you need

I'm 192cm tall, do you think it's too small? I'd very much like to be able to lie down straight inside.
I think it would be a bit too small, have a look at a vango strav2 i know that has tons of foot room.

Like the shape and vent features , she’s a heavy thing and not sure how that stood up to 100mph wind ! Good for £120 👍
the fabric deffo has a good weight to it, it feels much more robust than other tents I have
I will take some better pegs and see how she does this weekend
