    The job itself is easy. What makes it hard is if you’re working for a DSP that is unorganized, non ethical, doesn’t have working materials (chargers specifically in which case I had to bring my own) and simply didn’t give a crap about their drivers. I started in October of 2018 when it was still new in my area so there were only 2 DSPs at the time which was my company and another. I was one of the first 12-15 drivers hired and when I left almost a year in there was about 100 with my DSP alone. It was great in the beginning but as the months went on they went with quantity instead of quality. Don’t let the job scare you because it really is easy. Once you’re away from the warehouse and on your route then the day tends to go by quick. If your route is all apartments then my condolences.😁
    Great video btw!

  • @seth4940
    @seth4940 4 года назад +6

    Good tips in this video. What I do is I put all my odd numbered totes on the top, and all my evens on the bottom, 1 and 2 being the ones closest to the driver's seat. I also put the totes long ways up so I can fit more on that one side of the van. Any overflow is organized by route number, first ones closest to the front, last ones at the back, ideally of course. While I'm actually delivering I take my envelopes and plastic bags and put them in the front seat, leave the boxes in the tote, and put the tote close to me between the driver and passenger seats, if I need to get to the overflow I'll just push the tote out of the way. Great content as usual, stay blessed.

      I do the same with the envelops and plastic bags in the front but mine fall over the place! How do you keep them on the seat/organized? Do you sort them by driver aid number or just pile them?

    • @seth4940
      @seth4940 4 года назад +3

      @@Cincyskd I just pile them randomly and flip through them, same with the boxes. I've found that being fast at flipping through envelopes and boxes is faster than taking the time to specifically organize all of them. I never organize my packages and I always maintain a 22-27 stop per hour average.

    If you feel like you can’t find packages quick enough, make sure you are sorting at least all of your envelopes for the current tote by the driver aid # right away
    The more envelopes you have, the more important it it’s. Then you only have to look at each one one time. Take a minute or two to get them in order and your next 15-20 minutes will be so much less stressful. 100% worth it.

    my first day i used the method they taught in training and when the package number went up started stacking the top facing the aisle with the tote number up top. started bringing a sharpie to write the driver aid number on boxes in places i would see easy. Mandatory lunch, eat fast then i re organize the totes and overflow. but this all goes out the window kinda when you deliver to businesses.

    *EVERYONE*
    If your Amazon DSP provides a video training tutorial or even a brochure that shows how to load, I’d recommend just stick to that because each DSP (I’m sure) is different and uniquely fitted to the anatomy of their warehouse.
    For example:
    I saw too many red flags 🚩 during the showing of his specific methods of loading due to thinking about my specific DSP and how they have us “load out”.
    There’s so many moving parts such as:
    •Size & Shape of your van.
    •Tote & Overflow Count
    •Whether you have a rental (white van with no counters) or the Amazon Prime Van.
    Like these are things I constantly think of every morning before we go to load out.
    And I’m glad he showed the rental as well, but it wasn’t as specific, as if you may have a large volume of packages.
    I’m thinking about making a video myself for my specific DSP, but I have to ask for permission for that first (which makes me ask you, “Did you have permission to record this for your RUclips channel?”).
    Tips I’d offer in closing:
    •(Again) follow the training for your specific DSP you work at.
    •Think about buying bungee cords like I did to keep my totes from falling over while I drive (trust me they will).
    •and you may want to purchase “Clevermade” crates to put your plastic packages in (put that crate in your seat if your DSP allows for it). Makes it a lot easier to find especially if you organize them by number.
    •Generally if you have more than 14 totes, forget about using the counters. Load 3 up. And don’t forget those bungees.
    Anyway, thanks, but this doesn’t work for specifically my DSP.

    We stopped using pick sheet 2 1/2 yrs ago. I load my van the old school way no shelves so my bags are about 3 ft behind the door when I open it I work left to right an all my overflow goes in the back first stop last last stop first left to right it works an I’ve loaded 25 bags this way both in the uhaul an in the Amazon van been doing it this way going on 4 yrs now

  • @E.RHYMES
    @E.RHYMES 3 года назад +2

    I load my van from front to back. I work out the back of my van. I front load the tote I am working on in the passenger seat. I also label my overflow and my totes with stickers. I create zones of 4-5 bags. So each tote has a label of 1-4. 1 is first to go and 4 is last. By the time Im on my 4's all of the overflow and bags are in the front of the van behind me. Works for me......

    • @E.RHYMES
      @E.RHYMES 3 года назад +1

      The reason I do this is because it may not be convenient to work through the sliding door from the inside due to loading over 300 packages. Plus our vans are beat up and the side of the van sliding doors doesnt lock in place on all the vans. Also with labels you can tell what is what in case you hit a corner and boxes go flying everywhere. Plus with heavy overflow I can pack boxes in that are last to leave first. Since our warehouse wont let us load through the sliding door its much easier for me to load from the rear. You can reverse this procedure if you want to. But its a sure shot method and it also gives you an idea of what you are working with. I also write my itinerary down on paper by consolidated zones since my DSP wont provide a paper itinerary for us.....

  • @lstealth
    @lstealth 4 года назад +1

    I do first in first out and load from the back, first four bags are by the sliding door, then the rest of the bags are next, and then all my oversize goes on the left side of the van,anywhere from 15-25, I deliver my four first bags as fast as I can to free up the slide door, and then the rest becomes ez, also a small marker helps to mark oversize boxes.

    Here is what I do as a DSP driver. I drive the longer Prime van, that way I have room for a lot. The training videos say FIFO which is good. However the way they show u how to place your bags differ for me. Here we go. Let’s say I have 8 totes. In the long van, I can fit 6 totes on the drivers side rack, turned so they’re not hanging off the edge of it. I’ll take the last 2 totes on my pick list and place them on the floor under the driver side rack. Then place the remaining 6 up on the rack, with my first delivery tote right behind the seat, then 2-6 behind that. That leaves the passenger rack free to place overflow boxes. I FIFO those too according to zones on the pick list.
    So if you’re looking inside the van from the sliding door, your bags should be from right to left, 1 through 6 with 7 and 8 on the floor underneath. Once loaded, if I have time before the yard marshals send us on our route, I will take my first tote and empty the contents onto the rack, then put them in order by yellow tag numbers. Example, I will have 2030-2039 on the right, 2040-2049 next to that on its left, 2050-2059 next to that etc etc....
    Your rabbit will tell you when you reach your first stop what tag # your package has. Sometimes it will say plastic bag when it’s in a cellophane bag or even a box so don’t always depend on that. But 99.9% of the time the tag number will match the address. Sometimes you’ll get a tag that says UP243Y on it in that form. I usually put these in their own seperate pile. Also to easily identify whether your next package is an overflow, your rabbit will say ‘not in bag’ or the zone # won’t be listed on the stop. That tells you it’s an overflow. These have the same yellow tags as well, so pay close attention to that. Once you’ve delivered all the packages from your first tote, empty #2 and separate the same way.

    U teach the proper way . But imma tell em the actual way to get it done fast specially with peak season coming. Don’t use the side doors or the back door to deliver expect for the oversizes packages! Put the packages in front by u! U can use the floor next to you or the passenger seat, so that way you don’t have to get out and go to the back and look for it . U can just grab n go! Quick n easy ! Trust me . I know this . Going to the back n opening the back door or side door will waste like a good 1 hr of your day if you do it for every single stops ! TRUST ME!! But then again it’s not the legit way but it’s the most efficient n quicker way to get it done with these regular vans! The step vans tho is way easier but that another story for another day😂😂

      Check out my flex video can help you with some tricks with the app. Also, don’t stress too much speed will come with time. Just stay organized and you’ll do good. One tip I can give you is, keep the envelopes next to your driver seat and boxes in the back. That way if you have to deliver a envelope all you have to do is bend over and find it and if you need to turn in a box it’s in the back. 👍🏼

      @@IAmTheJuanAndOnly what’s so bad about apartments? I’m starting tomorrow for a place that mainly does apartment deliveries

    • @IAmTheJuanAndOnly
      @IAmTheJuanAndOnly  3 года назад +1

      The reason why people hate apartments so much is that lots of times the gate codes you have don’t open the gates. Also, lots of times you’re delivering a package to the apartments and they send you out of the apartments and then you have to come to the apartments again and this happens multiple times. Sometimes the flex app takes you to the wrong gate and it’s an emergency gate and you can’t get in so you have to find the correct gate. Lol at times the apartments are key fobs only and you can’t get a fob without the leasing office and then the office is closed. And other things lol

      @@IAmTheJuanAndOnly thanks, I guess if there’s big problems like that I’ll just take the packages back as they don’t want us spending more than 10 mins on a delivery, I do have an app called’Beans’ which I heard was good for delivering to apartments so hopefully that helps

    • @IAmTheJuanAndOnly
      @IAmTheJuanAndOnly  3 года назад +2

      Over flow you can use the yellow sticker on the packages. Here’s one way to do it. Let’s say you put your totes in order already. Open up your first tote. Look at a package inside the tote. Look at the yellow sticker it has. For example it will have yellow sticker D19.2D. Every package inside that tote will have the same sticker. Now over flow is the same way. Look for the package that have the sticker D19.2D those will be delivered with your first tote. And then you move on to the next tote. If the next delivery tote packages have yellow sticker D19.2E then you’ll look for the overflow with the yellow sticker D19.2E and you’ll be delivering that with the second tote you’ll be delivering. Does that make sense ?
