As a Brit, I lived in Rome for a year and associated with loads of lovely slim Italian ladies (most were other medical professionals). The set breakfast was one of two things ..... Black coffee with slice of white bread with a slice of ham on it ...... Or, black coffee with two of three mouthfuls of croissant type pastry. The latter was pretty much the same as the Parisian women. It was often that I shared one pastry with two other female doctors ..... So it was cut into thirds. You got the lovely taste but less than 200 calories. All of us, walked to and from the clinic each day unless it was raining heavily ..... So, guaranteed three miles. We all drank boat loads of sparkling mineral water. Rarely ate lunch ..... Except one lady who had a hard boiled egg. Dinner? Salad green leaves and tomato salad to start, and a meat based main with sauce, a vegetable like courgette or asparagus but no pasta. Being overweight was viewed as "socially low class" so a heavy meal was tutted at by your friends and Italian men. Like many slim Europeans, everything was portion controlled and fresh, healthy, food choices. The huge problem in both Italy and France though, was the idea that "having a cigarette is better than sugar" ..... You would see some wonderfully elegant woman ..... And she would stink of old cigarette smoke and too much heavy perfume to try and disguise it.
Honestly, I think it comes down to intuitive eating. Move your body, eat whole foods. Limit processed sugar. Eat lots of fruit and veggies. Drink lots of water, and get enough sleep. Moderation for the most part, with an occasional splurge! Treat your body like a temple ❤
Italians walk more. They walk every where. La Passeggiata after meals to digest. The food in Italy isn’t GMO modified so digestion is easier and the ingredients is healthier to begin with. The food has flavor because people care about quality. Lunch is the biggest meal, lots of time to digest. Italians hike, enjoy nature, work isn’t the end all be all, they vacation and enjoy life.
Are you back in Italy? :) Hello from Florence! I love Italian food a lot and I must say that here in Italy it's easy to stay in shape without feeling like you are on a diet as even when you consider yourself on a diet you still eat yummy food :) Today I had a cannolo siciliano, I love them! Great video dear Anna!
I found it very easy to get into the habit of drinking lots of water once you cut all these sugary drinks. I simply just dont buy them anymore. I have a soda stream and can make fizzy water any time.
Everyone does what’s right for them but I would encourage a healthy breakfast. Ideally not sugary. People I know who skip meals end up eating a poorer diet overall - and then convincing themselves it’s no problem to have one or two chocolate bars or biscuits because they skipped a meal. They can end up with a faulty mentality about what a healthy body needs (and instead get too focussed on how to lose weight as quickly & easily as possible)
Food restriction will equal weight loss. No breakfast just coffee? You easily just cut 300-400 calories from your daily intake. No calorie drinks or no salad dressing, again several 100's of calories. Is it healthy? Can be. Figure out your calorie needs and eat within that number- no magic foods or timing needed which is good because there is no magic.
As an Italian born and raised: most skinny Italian women smoke... You crave a snack, they smoke a cigarette :/ I'd much rather have a few extra kg than smoke
She can’t be Italian, she looks Swiss mix, she doesn’t even sound Italian. The French cuisine is completely different than Italian. French do not eat pasta and pizza at all, very rare! Italians eat pasta with every meal. Every meal. Also, gelato is all sugar. Ice cream is cream. Gelato is not good for you at all, especially if u want less sugar. I lived in Italy. They all eat pasta every day with little meat and little vegetables.

No guy likes a skinny woman if he’s a real man. Men love healthy women who don’t smoke.

cornetto are very delicious for breakfast.
So true ☺️ but you really need to limit that pleasure to 1 max 2 per week 😉
I prefer French croissants by far
Italians I’ve noted in Italy 🇮🇹 will do expresso only, cornetto with jam or croissant maybe twice a week no more for breakfast

You eat at ten p.m. and then take a thrity minute walk?
First I don’t eat at 10pm and yes, I take a walk after my dinner 🙂 it helps a lot 😉 both digestion and sleep after
If you dont eat brakefast you burn your muscles instead!
Why not just go for the carnivore diet? (older italian women dont drink much? Well, seems like they smoke alot..)
Those were French 🤣😂 no, not many of them smoke actually 🙂
Especially those ones who want to stay healthy and look younger
What? Like Pavarotti?
