Luxury Shopping in China With No Limit - Ep. 6 | The Bling Dynasty | GQ
Director of Photography: Shana Hagan
"I didn't want anything too flashy" ... there's a giant globe in the middle of the table that's glowing
lol true
+Connor Ball right crazy
ikr
lol
it looks like the moon in her living room
“I didn’t want anything too flashy.”... so naturally she went with the quiet elegance of Versace 😂😂😂
They are brand slaves
Clean air and water is WAY sexier.
+Kimberly Cabanas Is there any relation between buying luxury things and pollution?
Chen Zhu On some things yes, on others no. But my comment was less about the problems of luxury goods and more about the ethical priorities of the consumers of the goods. The vanity is so rampant. The desire to stand out, or to be better than others, to show off.. it just seems so trifling. Since we all know, money is power, it would be nice if the people with this kind of wealth. would use some of it to make bigger changes in the world. Don't get me wrong. I'm empathetic, I see this stuff and it's pretty nice.. but my subconscious is like a nagging mother-in-law.
***** Why do Americans always assume women want to come to their country? I'm just north of you, I can say, in Canada there aren't hurdles for minority children. We don't seem to have the same level of racism. We have lots of white women married to Asian men. It's just a great, balanced place to be. It's full of culture.
+The Rain So what is your culture? Judging other people by knowing a little about them? I'm living in the US and I've never seen a young woman would do that just for the green card or something else.
Well... Thats so mean :)
I love their version of understated interior decor haha. Very interesting.
A S T Y L E R E E L by Shannon Kylí bY understating means they have to put versache face allover the place LOL
didn't you listen? The man said the inside of their homes is significantly flashier, so not understated.
They have money but no taste
agree.
trueee....
+Izziebiz isnt taste subjective?
drkInxgud taste is subjective, then everybody in china has a very very very different taste. Lol.
+Cataline Levy everybody?l lol. stereotype for 1.4 billion people. well done:)
cool stuff but, Confucius will be rolling in his grave, Haha!
+Muhammad Ahmed Now they can buy a "Wersace" gold Confucius theme room!
+Muhammad Ahmed Confucius was dead after the cultural revolution haha.
+WRO Hahaha... Confucious will feel special now.
+Zhenyu Cai Reincarnated in the 21st century.
+Muhammad Ahmed - Muddie Don't think about Confucious. He won't even come close to Dear Leader Chairman Mao's reaction.
Wasachii wasachii wasachii~
BAHAGAHA
Shottoru LOL
On the floor...
Shottoru *on the floor ohh* 🎶
Shottoru wasabi wasabi wasabi
i hate when people think pronouncing european brands the american way is the correct way to pronounce it
felicity3kX
I hate when Europeans pronounce American brands the European way and they think it’s the correct way to pronounce it.
What on earth is the "European" way. Give me some examples?
Claud Ka Kei Yeung Versace, for example. There's no elongated e sound
Syrena Reynolds Except both German and English have them....
Claud Ka Kei Yeung it's an italian brand tho
''I didn't want anything too flashy''
-everything in the background is gold
Gold in Chinese culture is like black in ours. Simple and elegant.
On one hand you ridiculed them for spending big bucks on learning the right pronunciation of luxury brands, yet on the other, you mocked them for their poor pronunciations. The hypocrisy here is palpable and almost makes the conspicuous ways of China New Wealth look candidly adorable.
Hows the weather in Beijing?
zela80 I think the Versace repeat is reference to a rap song...
zela80 - I agree...they're being 'd*mned' either way, which is both unkind and uncouth. 😒
Really nothing,”adorable “ in this video at all...
they're not mutually exclusive ... they're both on the same hand LOL
I love how westerners mock the Chinese for trying and learning how to pronounce brands. Yet you don't see Chinese people mock westerners for when the way they say "Huawei" or other Chinese brands.. ffs
Wersace wersace wersace wersace
+Kevin Ben lmao
+Kevin Ben maybe she dont even know the founder is dead.
+lmz hardly anyone knows he's dead
sHE IS hot !
migos would be proud
mirbag always gives such a clear and detailed look at the bags! I love how you focus on the craftsmanship.
Here in Bali, Chinese tourists are the flashiest 😂
Going to the beach with their ball gawn lol
*2Chainz voice* 🎶”this Versace! that’s Versace! this Versace too!” 💁🏾♀️😂
I'm starting to study chinese seems like all the money is there now lol
lol
Hahaha good luck!
+cathy berry You can do it, I'm with you. Been in china for three years now
+cathy berry Nope...the money is flowing to the US
+Chuck Norris China owns about 8%~ of the total US National Debt lol, more like money is flowing to CN
Many of us Chinese people care more about what others think about us than our own feelings. Isn't it ridiculous?
Thank god, I thought I was the only Chinese who would say something like this. I guess that's the culture, and people fearing that some other Chinese who knows them, will show this to other Chinese and publicly shame them >.>
Samantha Zhang zhang what a bummer
Not only Chinese tho. More likely East Asian culture. Well, I think happiness is the key, if those things are something that make them happy in this cruel and unfair short life, so they finally able to fit in, or survive in the society, just let them. But if it don't make them happy, but they keep doing it, that's the problem, since we all know how it usually ends, yep, suicide. Idk how high suicide rate in China, but in South Korea, Japan and Singapore is pretty high. The debt trap is real.
Yes it's terrible. Chinese culture is rich in alternative medicine practices and feng shui, energy things... that is true wealth.
I think it's a Asian thing.
Because in India too people care what others think the most.
If I was a billionaire I'd still shop at zumiez lol
RelevantUsername and that is why u won't ever become one
RelevantUsername sameee
RelevantUsername me too
RelevantUsername Yes yes 👍🏻
RelevantUsername still expensive lmao
"I didn't want anything too flashy"Everything wersace like fuking migos ft. drake wtf no taste at all
luxury brand is a myth. no one really gives you more respect. the smartest rich dresses like plain jane
steve jobs mark bill........
👍good point
+Will Yeah i agree, but there are cultures that will treat you in certain ways depending on your bag.so yeah it's not about real respect but since people want to fit in they have to adjust to the materialistc ways
luxury brand is a myth. but quality material and stitchwork isnt. for this I shop fake brands but real thing.
Real facts
“i didnt want anything thats flashy” 👌🏼 ok! lol
The furniture looked cheap.
However, you still can't afford them.
"Louis Witton" Alright hon
+Harrison Zhu Tomorrow's educational lesson- we learn how to say Ni-key
she was like "fuck this, okay"
This comment explains why the woman is taking ridiculously expensive classes to learn to pronounce the brand names...Just to not be looked down upon by people like you
She would probably have to pay less to a French person
Harrison Zhu can you teach her how to pronounce it instead?
Couldn't they at least get a Chinese guy to talk about their own culture than a cheesy white guy who is just trying to make money off the new rich?
+K Lu It's the intended audience. A white guy would be a Western audience's way of being able to understand China. Otherwise this whole series would be in Mandarin, featuring only Chinese luxury brands, no?
Her pronunciation of Versace will make Donatello cry hhaahha
This is a disgrace. We are fueling the European luxury industry when we could be creating our own international brands instead.
That's going to come when Chinese people improve quality. Remember when poor Europeans bought riches from Asia to show that they are wealthy. Well it's the Chinese turn to buy the riches from Europe to show that they're wealthy.
NGUFashion only the "European" jewelry comes from Africa, and the leather from China.
man you must have a lot of free time going through all these bling dynasty videos and commenting on each one.
cacapupu1234 if you saw them all, you had just as much time lol. It's called being subbed to the uploader and getting the notifications on your phone. Welcome to the 21st century bro. Don't go getting lost out there son.
Shanghai Noon i think i am lost lol oh well my fault.
“The key to trading success is emotional discipline. If intelligence were the key, there would be a lot more people making money trading… I know this will sound like a cliche, but the single most important reason that people lose money in the financial markets is that they don’t cut their losses short.”

the money is earned by yourself, why i cannot spent what i want?
pretty stupid stuff to spent with.
+JINTAO LIANG because with money there comes responsibility.
+JINTAO LIANG you can spend your money for what you want, the same way everyone has a right to think that you're only wasting your money
just be smart spend not stupid spend. u eat food or bag when u hungry ? lol
+Wihtecity Unlike people with relatively low income, they are responsible for spending money, whether it be on something stupid or useful.Rich people hoarding money ruins economy.
I think she has a good taste. She buys exquisite decors and she's happy. She looks so beautiful and elegant.
"Versace, Versace, Medusa Head on me like ILUMINNATI"
The medusa head not properly sync
When she said she didn't want anything to be too flashy lol killed me.
The difference between today and dynastic times is that back then wealth and knowledge were in proportion of each other.
Xtracik807 lmfao, u killed me with that one haha.. I have to agree
Communism
What happened to the classic Chinese culture
Mrlolibre this is the consequence of culture revolution. Destroy classic chinese value and replace by capitalism......everything is about money now, so sad-.-
Mrlolibre It's really upsetting because I am an US born Chinese...yet I know more about classic Chinese culture than my Chinese born cousins and even aunts and uncles. I was persistent to learn both Mandarin Chinese and Shanghainese (Shanghai dialect). Unfortunately, in Shanghai, speaking its dialect is seen as unclassy and too old-fashioned...many of the youth don't even understand it anymore. :( It might be fruitless, but I'm majoring in Comparative Literature and East Asian Studies...hoping to be part of a minority to bring back cultural heritage to a new generation.
Mrlolibre VERSACE VERSACE VERSACE happenned.
After WW2 it died xD closes you get is in Taiwan
Mrlolibre Cultural revolution F*** it up !
"Wasachi" instead of "Versace" 😂😂
Kay Flip waddup why you so mad dude?
let me guess you're going to use a cliche mom joke? Real Creative. LOL
It isn’t her language plus the English pronunciation of Versace isn’t event the correct one so sit down
This is half my university
+simply.s Oxbridge? Which uni?
1baby Why would I give my uni away on the internet?
1baby great guess! There are so many Korean and Chinese students here. In my accommodation British students are a minority. Courses like management in particular have many Asians students
Yeah, I am doing international Management and 90% of my course mates are Chinese. Not even exaggerating...
I got to UNSW this is 90% of my university
Class is something you're born with. It's not something you can buy. Class is something you wear, something you breath. Class is in the eyes. It's easy to spot the spurious.
When you can pronounce it right but you cant afford it ... 🤣🤣
that woman is so cute actually she smiles so funny! she seem so kind and humble actuallly
That's why Vogue China is such a success. It teaches class to it's readers.
So true that when you got money or looks people behave more kinder to you..its all about convenience and comfort..
3:04 The way he pronounced Rococo.. lord have mercy
Yes. A W guy who doesn’t know how to say the word Rococo. 👏🏻😂
so much hate for these people.. saying that there are starving children etc. these people can do whatever they want with their money smh
“I didn’t want anything to flashy” lol
this is sad
+derp even then, I wouldn't buy stuff because of the brand, but stuff that I like
Its sad to you because you cant afford it.dont be jalous
Etroppa Baratli I don't think she's jealous, it's her opinion
The reason to feel sad because money can’t buy taste
This guy whose speaking through out the video is saying a whole lot if nothing 😂😂
Not sure how I became subscribed to GQ Magazine, but this was pretty entertaining.
You can pay for school but you can't buy class😂
they're all nouveau riche so most of the things they buy end up being tacky how tragic
May Jeganmogan lmao can you even afford one of her rooms? Tragic
true, old money people do not act like that. they balance it between spending and donating.
who cares you’re the broke one
That room looked like it should be the lobby of Versace. Color theme: gold on gold on gold. Materials used: crystal, satin, gold, gold, gold. Very understated, indeed.
Brands are great! Especially when you lack self-worth....
"I didn't want anything too flashy" her freaking house looks like a Ceasars Palace in las Vegas...I was looking for Siegfried & Roy behind the curtains!
They expect to be sofisticated and to learn foreign languages, when they have a thick accent even in mandarin
Money doesnt buy you happiness. If you aren't content, no materials will fill that void inside of you.
我傻气! 我傻气! 我傻气!!
+Yang Lin zhende ma?
+Yang Lin LOL!!! that's really smart.
+Yang Lin true gold
+Yang Lin LOL
+Yang Lin lmao now i understand. i thought she was saying versace :P
❤ so much new money in China. Loving how these people dropping that.❤
only few people in China live like this, these people do look stupid but they did spend time to earn money. The CEOs of those brands should be happy.
Contentment is natural wealth, luxury is artificial poverty.
.... and there are still people dying of starvation
+8-Bit And most of those billionaire and millionaires are self made, they worked hard for it, so why shouldnt they get to reap the benefits of their hard work?
+8-Bit well, they worked hard, and it is actually understandable that not everyone will organize up charity organisations or creating jobs for EVERYONE in the planet, so why not just take a chill pill? I mean, I'm not any wealthy either, but are you gonna blame yourself daily that there are still people suffering out there just simply because you're living in a better environment?
+Constance Lzq true that 👍
+8-Bit do you do something to improve their life? or you're just there judging other people?
+8-Bit thats y u gona be poor your whole life LOL
You can pay for school but you can’t buy class
0:21 Dem cracked feet though O_O
+MsLalaUsagi oh my! that was the first thing i noticed too. hahaha! not to mention those ugly toe nails. eww..
+MsLalaUsagi Maybe she should pay for a pedicure first
+MsLalaUsagi yellow toenails!
When you have enough money to spend but still don't forget to ask for discount... so classy
Chinese ppl used to care more about their spiritual stuff, but lately become more materialism for some reasons.
Bro you're talking centuries back..
"Self-made"
Money can buy louis vuitton but it can't buy taste or clean air..
" i don't want anything too flashy" but look versace versace versace
They dress like my sister and her friends... and we are by NO DEFINITION well-off. All I see is gaudiness and unrestrained opulence; no class, culture or anything really inspiring. It makes me sad, I need to stop watching these vids. :(
perfect example of how money can't buy you class
Love this series
"Bling needs to be understated" ...Honey, have you ever SEEN shanghai?!
3:10 how migos came up with that song
animals
😂😂
Money can't buy taste, it equally can't buy mastery of the world's most complex language!
One can't buy good taste, elegance and class. And it shows... I'm glad I've been to China 20 years ago, when it was beautiful, charming and authentic.
No amount of money can buy taste and class hahaha
Money is great but I would trade it all to live a healthy happy life
+IamMissPaulski you mean health insurance
Wow .. respect .. i feel the same . True wealth is health and knowledge .. the fake stuff they print is just what they want you to think is valuable
Paula Joan or you could do both lol
Same
So just asking would you date a happy man then who is healthy but is broke AF
I just want to hear the lady say “versace versace versace medusa head on me like im illuminati”
This is absolutely not a common image most people want and see here in China. I live both in Shanghai and New York and I want to let everyone know most people here even in big cities are more humble and very few would care for that gaudy Versace image. Also no one around me want to go to a classroom to learn how to pronounce French brands. We are looking at the down market 1% here who seriously embarrass my home country.
I think the Beatles said that "Money Can't You Love", lots of other things money can't buy as well, it is so true that people know the cost of everything but the true value of nothing, enjoy your "Bling".
I can pronounce and shop: Sears, Ross , Walmart and the Dollar Store.
"i didn't want anything flashy"
well every thing there is versaci sooooo
1:40 "spend wisely" uh...then dont spend it on all that bullshit...
If youre rich in a luxury store and you try to get a discount imma laugh at your face
Fits aint fire tho.
Esteban Diaz shet the fick up esteban
+Esteban Diaz lol
MR. BERNARD : thank you cici
Why do these people like versace sooo much. You can have a shoe what could costs £10 but because it has a versace or gucci logo on it becomes a £1000 shoe. I'm just stick to my nike jordans and adidas.
or they can go to a cobbler and get a shoe made for cheaper
Come on, there should be a difference in quality. But of course you are paying for the marketing and brand name as well. Not only for the shoe. Perhaps a hand made shoe specifically made for you will cost more than £1000, and the quality will be a lot better, and you are not paying for the brand.
***** Oh oh, here we go. I study the companies and production processes before purchasing their products. I can assure you, the method and materials used in the production of Salvatore Ferragamo and Luis Vuitton shoes are not to be compared with those of Carmina or Saint Cripin's, when it comes to leather dress shoes for men. Even Wildsmith or Crockett and Jones makes better shoes at a cheaper price. But are those companies well known for their Brand like VL or SF? I guess not. Do I need to own them all to know? I think not. Who looks like a peasant now? Yep, you.
I understand what you are saying, but you contradict yourself by stating you rather purchase Jordan's or Adidas. Both which are probably 10$ to make but 100$ to purchase cause of the logo as well.
Yeah if I were them I'd rather go to a cobbler and get something truly unique made.
The lady with the versace palace knows how to live life
It’s not real Versace furnitures.
Now I know where Migos got his lyrics from -3:12
My tongue tied self would trip over my words
In the Streets, People watch what Bag you are carring, so they Steal you Bag diffrently.
THAT ACCENT THO.
djdk29f fkgk9dc it isn’t her language cut some slack. Most Americans I went to school with sound like idiots speaking Spanish after taking the language for 3+ years
Kinda trashy. They shop like NFL players...
'I didn't want anything too flashy'
The money comes from corruption, corruption, corruption, self-made ? Virtually all the new-money are dirty money.
I am HK Australian Chinese. I cannot see any inconspicuous bling in this video!
I love that they said most of the billionaires and millionaires are self made, I don't know why but it gives me hope...
yeah that's what i felt too while the other commenters are just plain haters saying they are stupid and tasteless. lol. envy at its finest. they can do what they want with the money they earned right? Being a self-made millionaire is admirable and inspirational.
They aren't self-made as the West knows it, they are all connected to the Party, otherwise they would have never landed business contracts or been able to start companies.
Some rich people are just very selfish. They don't give back to the community, do no good for the poor, the environment, the society in general except fulfilling their unlimited desires by lifeless products that cannot follow them to their graves.
I walk or take a bus and spend $10 a day on food at max hahhahahaha :P
Lmao I should go back to China and teach English. They make bank there.
Anyone can buy Versace or Louis Vuitton. What about Goyard or Moynat? I think buying something that is one of a kind, even if it cost fifty dollars on Etsy, is what makes an object priceless. It is awful to see the Chinese throw away hundreds of years worth of tradition to emulate European and American gaudiness.
The think about owning expensive branded products in developing countries is that a lot of replicas or knocks off are also selling in demand there, so if u need to show ur wealth it wont matter.
