i lived in hk for 14 years, didn't know we had trails like that. Well i'm in toronto now.
Actually part of the route is not allowed for cycling 🤐🤐🤐
The mountain biking on Tai mo Shan is amazing... lived in HK for 10years. The trails take you through sub tropical forest, there's all sorts of wild life including wild boars and snakes too. Fall and spring is the absolute best time to ride.
Just finished the exact same ride and followed your Strava route! Thanks for the great video!
This is so funny. I went to Hong Kong for a VISA run in Feb of this year and I did the Tai Mo Shan...although I didnt know what I was doing. I just checked strava and we climbed the same mountain ( I could not climb it all, it was getting late....). Keep up the videos!
crazy roads Man good views and wow I think a problem with a lot of traffic there is the population good video keep it up bro !
Go to Taiwan when you get a chance. Lots of great climbs there.
@11:50 there is already an MTR station ( Tsuen wan west-west rail line) and you get in there, ride one stop to mei foo, then you can change back to tsuen wan metro line.... why go all the way up hill to Lai king station... heavy traffic!!!!lots of bad air...
Great work! First saw your vlog about the downhill in Mont Ventoux, great to see you visit HK! Good weather next few days, come back and enjoy the ride!
One of my favourite cycling vlogs! Love your work keep it going!
love your stuff mate, deserve more subs! keep up the great work
i have lived in hk and i live nearby there for the cyclers it gets steeper the more you climb up but trust me when you got the top its totally worth it
very cool video mate, love your chanel.

Nice ride Jasper!

Jasper Verkuijl sure
How to send you a pm on youtube
i had already PM you
What a beautiful road and view!
That would be my only worry getting lost in a place like China. Cool video and ride!
Tai Mo Shan "Mountain", lit. Big hat mountain mountain
yeah....the pocketrocketman from Malaysia won the keirin world championship
Last time i went there i saw "Cloud sea" the cloud covered the hills, and suppose you should go and back by the route, the road you go back is for XC MTB
you could try the bike trial from TAI WAI train station ...
Jasper, what tyres/width are you running on your road bike in this video?
Awesome. I used to live on the other side of the mountain - Kam Tin (not Tsuen Wan). if you do want to repeat this climb again, you can go from a train station called Tai Po. You get a nice flat-ish bit of road to cycle before you get to the foot of the climb but it is just a dual-lane carriage way with often large trucks and stuff. Either way, you do make me miss hong kong!
Another popular really flat route is a 25-30km route which starts by disney land and heads towards the airport. That's quite a nice ride. Anyways, next time you're there say hi to hong kong for me! :)
Oh cycling the other way along that road is really dangerous
Cool nice ride uphill. Good thing the cows didn't chases you down...
Hey Jasper i didn't know you lived in Baarn, i saw an article about you in the gooi en eemlander. i live in Soest.
This is the place where much more people ride compare to riding up The Peak. Hope you have a very good experience.
what camera are you using on the bike?
Wonderful, thanks.
Also, there is a very scenic route along the Tolo Habour. It lies convieniently between Tai Po and Tai Wai, 2 MTR stations/
Great video again. What's the music you played. It's awesome.
Hey I like how the road sign says the grade. And I was shocked when I saw the face of the second local rider... There is something very strange.
Hi mate, next time if you have more time there is a better way to climb to the midpoint. Off the main road, totally no cars and through the national reserve. Let me know if you want the gpx. Cheers
Actually you descended the way i was talking about! Haha. You got it! Climb that way next time!
Also at 13:05 you rode straight past the mtr entrance, on your left! haha
Great information for when i return. Cheers!
Hey Jasper, I realise that your rental bike has mechanical disc brakes on them! Do you mind sharing your experience using them? especially since there were some pretty steep descends! Thanks
Was thinking maybe i could save some money and use mechanical disc brakes, but guess i'll have to go with hydraulics then! Thanks for replying Jasper. Btw, awesome Vlog!! Really enjoy your videos! Cheers
Also I did that climb at night which is good fun but comming down we nearly hit a buffolo and wild hog🐃🐃😂
Yeah I've seen those walking around in Hongkong before!!
really interesting and super sketch!
when you ride at the walkway by the sea, Tsuen Wan West Station(West rail line) just next to you
Do you prefer rim or disc brakes?
Ppl in metro probably tought "what a weirdo" 😂
Lol, but then they see you wearing flip flops on the mtr and think he is a local!
Welcome to Hong Kong!!!
what Climb! bucket list!
what is the song in the background?
try Fei Ngor Shan (Kowloon Peak) next time
welcome to HK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
7:43 rad mtb. Looks like a Pivot. SRAM Eagle drivetrain.
I know where I am hiking up when I next in Hon]g Kong :)
To say good morning in HK say "Jo san" rather than the mandarin. It will get a better reaction. But I'm sure you know this now 😊. Love Tai mo shan it's a tough ride esp the past the barrier. HK such a wonderful place
Good tip I didn't know that. Jo son is easy to remember!
12:19 tsuen wan west station was on your left hand side. You literally just missed it haha
Yeah, it's sometimes hard to spot when you are searching for it 🤣
Am I the only one that can't ride without at least one hand on the handle bars?
I use three
@@HumaneNewt 😂😂🤣🤣
somehow you reminded me of the three legged chiken jok
Welcome HongKong
What gearing do yo use on your road bike?
do you race on this bike
I'm a local and I can tell how complicate of the road in HK.
WELCOME TO HONG KONG
HKG is awesome 👏🏻
Nei Ho, not Ni Hao. We speak Cantonese in Hong Kong
Come to Taiwan next time!
Tough to say the best place to ride, almost every city has it's own iconic climbs. If I had to pick two, Taipei and of course, Hualien, where the Taiwan KOM starts. Hope to see you vlog here soon!
malaysia win the kierin hahahaha #fansfrommalaysia
7:28 lol
