Cyndi Lauper means a lot to me. She was my daughter's FAVORITE singer, especially the "Girls just want to have fun song." My daughter was 10 yrs old at the time. Sadly my daughter passed away suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 33yrs. When I hear Cyndi Lauper sing, I close my eyes and remember the fun-fun times that I had watching my daughter dance around and pretend to sing like Cyndi. thank you Jimmy Kimmel for having Cyndi on your show this evening, enjoyed it very much.
Please accept my condolences.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
This broke my heart to read. So sorry
❤
I wept reading this, not out of sadness but the power music has. I hope you are well and the memories of your daughter keep you warm and joyful always. A big hug 🫂
She is still so cool! ❤She looks great for turning 71 on June 22. Happy Birthday Cyndi!
🤯🤯🤯 My mind is blown. For some reason I was thinking she was late 50’s… even though she was my idol as a 6 year-old when ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ was released in 1983. Wow.
@@TheEmaile Not only that she's older than Madonna and looks better than Madonna!👱♀🕵💃🕺
@@SuperMarioBrosIII wow! she absolutely does! A million times better! 👩🎤
Wow she looks great and still funny!
Still has that classic, unabridged New Yawk accent, too!
Cyndi Lauper is an ICON!!
I Love Her So Much!! Give her, her WELL DESERVED Flowers, She’s EARNED them!! 🌹💐💜
Absolutely!!!!
I played Girls Just Wanna Have Fun to my 8-year old daughter last year. It's now her favorite song. She loves the video. We sing it out loud every time we're in the car!
Our car songs were duets from “Wicked” 🎶🎵🧑🎤🧑🏽🎤
My nieces favorite song at that age was Material Girl.
I'm a 45 year old (allegedly straight) man, and this has been my favorite happy song for I don't know how long.
i have a 3-year old niece who loves that song. cyndi lauper is a goddess. i hope she appears in AEW in case wendi richter decides to fight "timeless" toni storm.
It's definitely one of those songs that is literally timeless, and even for little kids
that brooklyn accent/attitude is killin it!
ps, that walkout song by the band was awesome
She's from QUEENS.
Is she on drugs? Honest innocuous question.
@@waryaawariiri1812no dingus that's Cyndi
This queen is 70 years old, unreal❤❤❤
Looks better than Madonna
She's Aunt Chippie with a good singing voice! 😁
@@rabindergangapersad3665 Yea, obviously Cyndi has had some work done too, but Madonna went overboard with it.
love her!
And a complete a hat
She’s definitely still having fun
Hello. Good afternoon. My name is Brian López. Yeah, my favorite Cyndi Lauper song is "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". Its music video accompaniment has plenty of visual effects.
This album changed the 80s for us. Every party we had, every club we went to, we danced to this.
Cyndi Lauper set us all free❤❤❤❤🤗🤗🤗🤗
Cyndi rocked the Johnny Carson show in her early days. A true stand out and unique star! It's good to see her doing well.
It's not possible that she's 70 years old. Love her!
I know I m75!
@@jameszimmerman3625 hahahaha! I misread your comment as I'm 1m75 (as in 1 metre 75cm), hahahahahahah! I sat there wondering what I'd missed: her age and your height?? what does it mean?? hahahahahaha! I should pay better attention.
Mick Jager is 80.
She's blessed.
I didn’t realize it until halfway through the interview that I was smiling. I love interviews that make me smile. Cyndi was and still is so uplifting. She is the true essence of fun. 🎉
What a legend!!!! her music, her presence, her energy, everything is top level. And how come she looks the same if not better? ❤
Cyndi Lauper is my favourite part of "We Are the World." She has such a brilliant catalog and deserves all the love in the world. "True Colors," "My First Night Without You," and "Who Let in the Rain" are three songs worth your time! Go, Cyndi! ❤
Loved how she would do someone else's song better than them. Roy Orbison had a wonderful voice, but Lauper's "I Drove All Night" was the best. And that time she was in Central Park and did the Beatles "Strawberry Fields Forever!"
Cyndi looks great. Her complexion is beautiful.
Sunscreen and hats.
Like that her face is not frozen like many stars those days. I would love to know how she kept her skin so beautiful
They can't make their neck look young.
@@JoeBuck207 what
She looks amazing. 70 yrs old
I went to Cher's farewell tour years ago and Cyndi opened the show. She came right into the audience up a side aisle where I was sitting. I still remember that moment!
Witch she did 3-or 4 since 2005 ! 😂😂
Cyndi’s vocal part in We Are The World is certainly the highlight of the song!
80's Ladies are the best!!!!!!
“Time After Time “ never gets old. One of the most beautiful pop songs of all time.
We even sang that in college jazz group.
I love Cyndi. Her songs always make me feel happy
Been jamming to her and enjoying her music for decades. She looks like nothing more than a 38-year-old wannabee teenager, just phenomenal!
Her mindset is everything. When you live like you're not bound by anyone's expectations, just being kind and real , it sets the tone for everything. She's really cool. I love it.
Cyndi Lauper was a huge part of my childhood!! Girls just wanna have fun & Time after Time is definitely in my greatest hits category!!! 💖💖💖
True Colors!!!
Nearly 71 years old. She's still *beautiful* 😍
She’s still freakin adorable. Have always loved her energy and enthusiasm
Love Cyndi! Such a legend.
GIRLS, JUST WANNA HAVE FUN!!!😁TIME AFTER TIME!!! 😊
I’m ready for a Cyndi Lauper tour ❤
Love ya Jimmy!
Perfect pitch and a four octave voice ain’t bad! I’ve loved her forever.
One of a kind voice.
I lived in downtown Minneapolis in 1984 and Cyndi Lauper was on fire with her music! Omg absolutely love you Cyndi, best of 80’s music! Thanks for your music…and you absolute nailed it in We Are The World!!! ♥️😘
I've always loved Cyndi Lauper.
Cyndi Lauper, one of the 1st Girl Power of the new generations. Thank U for a lot of timeless songs 😍
Cyndi you definitely are an icon that deserves all the respect! I used to love her look back in the day she was so cool!
I met her at a signing about 20 years ago, she did a free show at NYC CIty Hall Park around the time she released AT LAST. I brought my entire collection and she was nice enough to sign every copy. I cherish them to this day
God we played her songs a million times no lie .. I think I was 16-17 ish .. she looks amazing ! Nice interview Jimmy !
When Cyndi Lauper sings the hair on my arm stands up! She is sooo incredible. Love her forever!
Love this woman. So glad she's having another, well-deserved trip to the spotlight. Many more hopefully!!
There is no one like her. Truly a one of a kind!!!
I’m 52 and feel so judged when I dress how I feel. I’m a rock chick. Cyndi just gave me permission to live. She owns her personality and expresses it with every fibre of her being. Such an amazing woman. Rock on girlfriend.
SMILE SILLY !!!! xoxo
I'm 51, and grew up not caring about what people thought of me because of artists like Cyndi. I'm 51, and I still dress how I want to dress. Wear my hair the way I want, and my makeup according to how I feel that day. Be yourself unapologetically. Own your look, and walk with confidence anywhere you go. Fashion is so hilarious that people will soon be wearing your look, anyway. I'm a rocker chick, too. My hair is still down to my tail bone at 51. I'm judged for my hair being so long for my age. Do you know what I did? I grew it longer. 😂
Rock gives you freedom. Women like these in the 80s showed us there were many ways to be a woman and we were meant to walk in the sun,not as an accesory to a man.🎉🎉🎉
@@rockhuntersmagazine4551 May I say ? TY SOOOOOO MUCH xoxo

I adore her!!! I also graduated in 1985. She is everything!
Taking my wife & daughter to see her in Dallas! They're SUPER excited!
Taking my 3 kids to the Phoenix show. I think it's important these days for them to see true talent.
I LOVE Cindy to pieces! She's been my uplifting support for decades! God bless her! Can't wait to see her in concert and have a fantastic time as the girls wanna have fun!
She is a treasure I will always look up to❣️❣️
She's of one kind and onde the best singers and period.
We used to go see Blue Angel at the Meadowbrook in NJ. Years later I saw her in concert and still to this day it was the absolute best concert I've ever seen. And I've been to many concerts back in the day, the Stones, Bob Marley, Bonnie Raitt etc. Her voice is amazingly powerful.
You would never ever say that Cyndi Lauper is almost 71 years old ! She looks like she is in her late 30s to early 40s ! Absolutely stunning !!! 💯😘🥰😊👍👌
💜 Everything about her !
She didn't explain (I think on purpose) why the documentary was named "Let the Canary Sing". Blue Angel's manager and contract owner sued her for big $ and the only way out for her was to declare bankruptcy; the judge granted the bankruptcy so she could move on with her career by saying ... Let the Canary Sing.
Cydni, you are most most most definitely one of a kind! We love you!
I'm 62 and therefore fortunate enough to have witnessed Cyndi Lauper come onto the music scene and become incredibly popular. I love her music and I have a ton of respect for her and others too who felt comfortable enough or courageous enough to just be themselves.
The Goonies Theme song is one of the most underrated songs of all time.
Goonies 'R' Good Enough.
love that song but I've heard she hates it which is sad
That music video turns 39 today, June 6th 1985. BTW Cyndi hated the song. She stopped performing it for 17 years and it finally returned to her setlist in 2004 thankfully. One of her best.
@@mm369 She did and from 1987-2004 stopped performing it but has performed it ever since. I think she has changed her opinion on it. Even at shows she has had clips from the video playing onstage when she performed it. Hopefully it still remains in her farewell tour setlist.
@@mm369she didn’t hate the sing she hated that they forced her to out the movie title of the song
This woman is a treasure! There is no one like her. I don’t even think she realizes the positive impact she’s had on people, not only girls.
A beauty inside and out.
I can't wait to see Cyndi in concert!! 🩷🩷🩷🩷
One of the best live performers! She would go right up in the stadium’s & sing going throgh the crowd & even talk to people a bit. She has always just been ready to share her talents & herwonderful personality & opinions to. She is a dynamite entertainer❤💜💖💘🩷❤️❤️💓💘
71 in two weeks. Good on ya, Cyndi!
Cyndi is awesome. Inside and out. Such a beautiful talent.❤
I was walking around the supermarket the other day and they were playing Time After Time on the sound system~that song makes me cry every time, "... The second hand unwinds, if you're lost you can look...." Sigh!
Saw her at the United Center (Chgo) in 2002. She was Cher's opening act . She shook hands w everyone sitting near the stage. Wonderful show! Happy to see her looking so great!
If you've never seen Cyndi live, you really need to go! She is incredible and you can really appreciate that flawless voice. I saw her 10 years ago this month with Cher and what a night!!
I agree that her voice is among the best.
She literally MADE "We Are the World" a hit. Her voice is so damn good!!! LOVE CYNDI!!!!!!!!!!
I love her so much. Forever the cutest. Fantastic voice. Extravagant elegant style. My mama dedicated Time after Time to me. Cyndi is special.
Cyndi is looking good. I have always enjoyed her singing. I remember when I was a kid and her and Madonna were out at the same time.
Cyndi Lauper was born and died in the 80's. Madonna did success in the 80, 90 and 00's.
I fuc*ing LOVE Cyndi! Undisputed legend.
I am a Hong Kong Chinese and I was blessed to have her holding my hand singing a few lines of True Colors in her concert in 1989 here in Hong Kong.
How COOL was that😊😊??
She's still strong to celebrate life and high hopes, Cyndi give soft light in the middle of shades distance. Happy birthday! (from Jujuy,Argentina)🌈
The hair the make up she looks soo good in here
Growing up in the Eighty's, Cyndi Lauper was and is an inspiration in my life. Love you Cyndi.
She’s playing a gig in London before he Glastonbury show. We’ve always loved her over here! Can’t wait to see her
She is such a kid. I've always enjoyed her singing g and acting
👏👏👏👏👏👏
I still can't believe I'm gonna see her in September ❤ I bought the tickets to Rock in Rio before I knew she was doing a farewell tour, I just had a feeling this would be my only chance to see her perform live.
Got tickets for her show in DC.
She is so beautiful! She still has a great voice! I love her music👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I watched the doc. She doesn't want to be called an Icon but she is. A true badass, we are lucky to still have her. We love her distracted chaotic energy.
Cyndi is a legend. My favorite albums by her are Hat Full of Stars and Sisters of Avalon. I mention them so perhaps someone who has not been exposed to her underrated 90s albums will check them out. Amazing songwriter and vocalists. Love her style and personality. Love you forever Cyndi ❤️
Perhaps the diva with the most amazing complexion. The fact that she's now a septuagenarian and still looks stunning is mind-blowing.
and her voice is still the same too when she sing. Still sounds amazing.
That song We are the world gives me goose bumps and I cry. I love.
Cyndi Lauper could give lessons to Madonna on aging well.
It's to late for that lol
Poor Madonna all that surgery messed her up.
Ya & Cyndi is 70…amazing
I graduated in 1986! Cyndi lauper was on of my faves as a teen. We watched her on mtv all summer! This is when mtv first came out! Love her still
She looks amazing! What a doll! A national treasure!
Cyndi was my very first concert in December 1984 - I was 12 years old and my Dad took me. It was amazing and I have a deep-rooted love of live music because of her. She's still got an amazing voice and I hope to make it to her next tour!
Nice. I too saw her for the Fun tour in 1984. I was 14 and it was my first concert. My parents took me. I will never forget it. Now 40 years later I am taking my kids to see her for her farewell tour. It's full circle. I wouldn't miss this last chance to see Cyndi.🥰
Wow, my dad would have never taken or allowed me to go to a concert back then as I was too young.. so I am going this year in NYC, 40 years later, can't wait!! Love Cyndi!
@@karalynne7616 You will love it. She is awesome live.
@Dixon193 Thank you, very excited to have fun! I hope you & your kids have fun, too! 🎉
Love Cyndi Lauper.
My childhood, I’m 17 but I watched you when I was a kid at a concert, we will always love you and thank you for showing your •True Colours• and allowing others to •Shine•, you are OUR world!! ❤
We are so lucky to have lived at the same time as this wonderful artist. She is truly precious!
As a brother from dc and a performer in my own right I have always been a fan of Cyndi pauper! Such fire!!!🎉
Cindi has always been beautiful to me not only in looks, but her voice as well. I feel the same to this day about both.
WE HEAR THE WORDS WE !!!!!!!!!!!!!❣💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
I graduated high school in 84. I truly believe I got to experience the best decade to be young. The music, hair, clothes, everything. And best of all, no social media.
I love her so much!! She's a legendary artist! Such a huge icon. She opened my eyes and heart when I was a teenager in the 80s.
She is so beautiful and talented!!
Cyndi is the whole deal; singer, songwriter and instrumentalist - with a big sense of humour. Love ya girl.
Saw her 11 years ago at the Warner Theatre in D.C. First time I saw her in concert and she was amazing!! She told stories in between her songs and it was just fabulous. When she first came out, many had their phones up, recording. She stopped singing and said, "Look; if I let you record me for this first song, would you then please put your f*cking phones away?". Everyone laughed and just as she asked, the rest of the concert, 99.9% of the people put their phones away.
We Are The World is a fantastic song.Cyndi Lauper really killed her part. After she took off those damn bracelets. I think she got it on the third or 4th take. Michael was gasping on the side.
Absolutely gives me goose bumps Cyndi’s part ❤
"Girls Just Want To Have Fun" hit the radio when I was 10 years old. Wow, this gal sounded punchy, looked bold, and impressed me at a young age. I sang that song on the playground at school, it then followed me though years of growth, whims, experiments, and both good and bad life experiences. When I hear that song now (at age 51) I taste a few sweet kisses of that playground/childhood energy. I still enjoy (and sing along with) most of Cyndi's popular songs, and I look forward to seeing this farewell concert. I will probably cry some while there, but in a good way.
Cyndi made me cry when she sang "We are the world, we are the people"...spiritual evolution happens gradually, devine timing ❤She has a big heart!
I’m Jimmy’s age and yes, Cyndi Lauper was HUGE for us back then. She still looks aMAZing after all these years❤🎉🎉🎉
Cyndi was there through my formative years, and I will always love her. She is unapologetically herself. She led a whole generation of girls through their awkward stages. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun was our anthem growing up. Keep doing you, beautiful lady. You still look and sound fantabumazing. Wish I could speak to you just one time for a few minutes to let you know how you influenced an entire generation of young girls to just be themselves, and have fun doing it. Love you Ms. Lauper.
True ICON of the 80's.
There wouldn’t be a WRESTLEMANIA if it weren’t for this Legendary soul ♥️♥️
WWE wouldnt be what it is without her and WWE helped launch her career too as they discuss in the documentary. WWE played a massive role in Girls Just Wanna Have Fun being a hit. The Rock and Wrestling Connection. It's shocking she isnt in the WWE HOF. I can only assume maybe she turned them down as others have or that she has move past that. She does seem to embrace that in her interviews.
@@Peppers19781978 exactly !!!! She should have been put into the WWE Hall Of Fame this year for The 40th Wrestlemania
She looks so beautiful.inside and out ,..as always. I adore her.
Love you, Cyndi!!! You were always the "different" Madonna of the 80's. Both of you Allstars ! Both of you beautiful rowdy American souls with incredible voices. And most of all you are an amazing talented woman and human. Thank you for all the incredible music and joy you've brought into this world.
