TRULY THE MOST PROFESSIONAL UNOFFICIAL STAR WARS FILM EVER MADE! This is exactly what i would expect to see from a professional Star Wars TV show. Everything here is perfect. Beautifully shot opening title sequence Captivating story. Well written script. A great plot twist. Crystal clear HD quality print. Perfect Tatooine locations. beautifully shot with creative camera angles. Authentic and professionally made costumes. Perfect Props and set design. Solid acting performances. Smooth editing. Well crafted practical effects. Seamless digital matte paintings. Professional CGI ship and monster effects. Well mixed sound effects. Captivating musical Score. Clean Star Wars end credits.
To think a fan film about the rancor monster's owner could be this good, well done ! I legit got original trilogy vibes when I saw the first longshot of the boy walking in the desert with his droid.
Níłch’i naalkidí ᛏᛖᛚᛖᚹᛁᛋᛁᛟᚾ दूरदर्शन التلفاز they are actually found native on a few planets but yes Felucia is one that has rancors. Everything in this film is first rate, from the production, story, actors, filming, costumes, special effects, and music. It's as if Lucas and his production company wrote and filmed the entire story. I would have never guessed this is a "fan film." Congrats! Well done, had me captivated. I didn't figure it out until the scene after "One Year Later" and was like Ahhhh. Up until then I was like its a Krayt Dragon!!!!
Yes. We've entered some kind of bizarro world, where fan films feel like the magical Star Wars we hunger for, and the big Disney Wars feel like fan films that don't know what Star Wars is about.
Jεε¥☯ñG you’re totally correct on his backstory. Since it’s Legends and relatively unknown, we came up with our own backstory that felt more compelling and interesting.
That droid was an amazing character. Everything here was done well, but I loved how the droid cares for the boy, even to the point of going against its owner to protect him. And the design was a great variant of the typical protocol droid. Great job!
Hats off to the production of this film. This is how you properly flesh out the characters that will makes the movie all the while relevant; how did people end up in Jabba's lair, there must be a story, whether long or short, light or dark there's a story and it matters to us. Not that Rey looking at the mirrors reflecting her own image means anything to us. Just like Luke said," Why are you here?" If you can answer the question, that's the key to a successful movie.
well I can tell you 2 things right now. #1 it's not the best film in the entire galaxy and #2 even if it is that's not saying much because only one planet so far has films and you're standing on it.

holy dathomirian rancor, boba fett!! that was fantastic. That poor poor crying man in Jabbas Palace... Now you know where that creature handler came from and it seems far more alluring than before.Got me all excited and nostalgic for my star wars galaxies days
Everything about this was great! All the designs felt very Star-Wars-y, and it felt like part of the Star Wars world, rather than part of a Star Wars film set, which a lot of fan films end up looking like. All the acting was pretty decent too, and the sound effects and grittiness were Star Wars to a T. The music was especially great; it sounded like a live orchestra and had the same sort of sound as the A New Hope score. Admittedly, I cringed a bit with the orchestral Cantina Band reference because it was so ham-fisted, but other than that, I really liked the soundtrack! Well done, all! (I also liked the George Lucas clip at the end to really get a sense of where this idea came from)
Absolutely loved this short film, it is a brilliant back story to a character I was always intrigued by. This was such a high quality fan film I can almost believe its been sitting in George Lucas' vault for all this time and has just surfaced on the internet. The creators should be very proud
It is incredible! The real Star Wars universe was back for few very precious minutes, like by a time machine! You are the real tallent, the actors so good and true, almost impossible! Thanks!

So awesome that you absolutely HAD TO SPOIL IT, right? But what for? 😒 Seriously, I was looking at the comments before watching the movie... I won’t do that again. It’s the first time I see a so called Star Wars fan spoiling the twist of a movie. Well done dude, don’t change anything 👍🏻
Sweet and touching, very cool story ! I figured he was Malakili and the "monster" was the Rancor for sure (i was hesitating with a Wampa) right after the "one year later" seeing his new garments ! And then Jabba's small barge arriving totally made me smile and got the whole thing ! :D
It's a sad state of affairs when fan films are better and feel more like Star Wars films than actual Star Wars films. Bravo!! This was well done. Enjoyed every bit of it.
Of all the Star Wars fan movies about Troopers, Jedis, Sith etc this has to be the most genuine, Star Wars feeling fan movies out there. When I finally clicked who he was after the One Year later transition I literally had a huge smile on my face!! Well done guys!! (Also the cinematography, scene transitions, locations, creatures, props and characters all felt 100% Star Wars!!!)
Right? When I saw the kid with the goggles and head wear I knew exactly who this was about and I loved it. I can see this kid working for Jabba for decades as his monster wrangler and now makes the death of the Rankor in Jedi that much more impactful.
Agreed. I chuckled when I read your post because I was sat, cynically waiting for a Sith Lord to appear behind a rock and then hear the fetishistic thrumming of a red lightsaber. This had the good vibes of a Star Wars spin-off from the eighties circa the Ewok movies era.
No over acting, no over use of special effects, a good clean and easy to follow story line.......BRILLIANT! Its getting harder and harder to find good fan films. You have nailed it. A very genuine well done!!!!!!!!!!

@@NickMahar You were the D.P. I have to give you major props. I'm very into cinematography myself, and this was was just epic. More believable than the sequel trilogy So authentic Amazing cinematography WOW Actual aliens and good environments done with practical effects and REAL locations(I hate marvel movies because too much CGI) I LOVE RANCORS The storytelling is right on beat with star wars (something about the sequel trilogy always felt folly, even after seeing the force awakens for the first time when I was only 15)

Goosebumps! I felt more for these characters in 15 mins than I did in either of the Disney trilogy films to thus far. This was truly incredibly and masterfully done. I would love to see what you could do with a Disney scale budget.
This is so good and so hearty. It makes me sad that Disney can't get with the program when it comes to telling a basic story without screwing it up. That last little snip of George Lucas talking about the Rancor's keeper loving him almost brought me to tears. I completely forgot about that little touch in the original trilogy.
I wish I had some new observation to offer here. Your team did an amazing job. The heart and tone both visually and thematically belong in this universe. And I agree - this IS now canon in my eyes. The locations, the photography, the makeup, the costumes, the props, the puppets, the music and the scenography are AMAZING !! That droid, man!, the details, the acting, BRAVO !! The ending is incredible!. Congratulations to the cast & crew.

I bet Disney is disappointed. Not much content to create new toys to sell. Unless the big woman fits the bill. I can hear the feminists screaming.
Yep its güd!
BigBill Lucas so true, totally agree!
To think a fan film about the rancor monster's owner could be this good, well done ! I legit got original trilogy vibes when I saw the first longshot of the boy walking in the desert with his droid.
Definitely felt that old school tatooine. Awesome job they did.
I could be wrong... but I thought rancors were native to Felucia?
Níłch’i naalkidí ᛏᛖᛚᛖᚹᛁᛋᛁᛟᚾ दूरदर्शन التلفاز they are actually found native on a few planets but yes Felucia is one that has rancors. I’m not aware of Tatooine having rancor in their ecosystem but it might not be a totally impossible idea that a few were living in caves. Maybe even smuggled on the planet at one point.

Ahh cool.
Nate someone on reddit brought this up as well but after more research it was found that they were captured and taken to other places a lot
Everything in this film is first rate, from the production, story, actors, filming, costumes, special effects, and music. It's as if Lucas and his production company wrote and filmed the entire story. I would have never guessed this is a "fan film." Congrats! Everyone should win an award for the great work done on this film. 👍
this is incredible! the filming locations, costumes, creatures, props, looked like they were right out of the original trilogy! fantastic job!

I’ve yet to pick up my jaw from the floor, the cinematography is just amazing!

That was magnificent. This film had so much soul. It's not often that you run into a gem but when you do the feeling is amazing. Thank you to everyone who poured their hearts into making this.
Everithing you just said is right
This had more Star Wars heart than the new Disney Trilogy. This was so sweet and well thought out. Loved it!
Disney please hire these guys to make more of these !! This is just amazing--it captures the essence of Star Wars.
I really like the parallels between the scenes at the entrance of the cave. And the scene where Luke goes to Jabbas Palace in Return.
This was really well done! A+ on the designs and the reveal at the end. I consider this canon now. Thank you.

Young Malakili and his Rancor... what a brilliant story and played absolutely trustworthy 👍🏻💪🏻 felt like Star Wars indeed 🙏🏻
This was excellent. As well as getting Steve Blum and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as voices..... thats top tier talent for this fan film.
Brilliant. Best fan-film I've seen. Looks professionally made and avoided all the usual cliches.
This short 20 min. fan film likely made on a shoestring budget had more charm, character, soul, and creativity than a multi-million dollar studio produced film...this IS how Star Wars should be.
Ditto
Exactly

This really felt like a Star Wars film.
Now I understand why he cried so much in ROTJ.
Excellent job.
Well done, had me captivated. I didn't figure it out until the scene after "One Year Later" and was like Ahhhh. Up until then I was like its a Krayt Dragon!!!!
Kenn 42917 SAME DUDE!
Exact same here. Then I saw him with the headscarf watching the skiff and it all clicked it place perfectly.
I saw the claws and my thought was a rancor then I just wondered if it happened to be the same. And shit. Very well do e
If you pay close enough attention the beast woman is wearing some of the Rancor Keeper's baubles the second time she's shown.
Yeah man! Had me same. Then I saw what he was wearing and I was like, is it? Is that the rancor keeper!?! Effing brilliant!
I felt like I was actually watching Star Wars.
Yes. We've entered some kind of bizarro world, where fan films feel like the magical Star Wars we hunger for, and the big Disney Wars feel like fan films that don't know what Star Wars is about.
Agreed. It was rather enjoyable.
I mean. We never really thought much about the Rancor Keeper's backstory.
Totally awesome.
Same.
Great job!
Best Star Wars monster fan film ever.
Nothing will even come close.
THIS IS THE BEST FAN FILM IN THE ENTIRE GALAXY!
just look the vader fan film of star wars theory
well I can tell you 2 things right now. #1 it's not the best film in the entire galaxy and #2 even if it is that's not saying much because only one planet so far has films and you're standing on it.
Amazing work and beautifully shot. A lot of people are going to enjoy this. Congratulations and I hope to see more.
If you like, please share, thank you
Not going to lie, I actually felt like I was in the SW universe unlike Disney’s movies.
This channel is a thief.
This film isn't his/hers if you do a basic search on it.
@@Shantaro25 Escape Velocity Content is the production company behind the film. You can watch the end credits to see. Also, you can look at "Show More" under info for the full list of credits.

BEst minor Star wars story flik I've seen thus far..VERY good production values..doesn't feel CHEAP at all...Love it...the NEW Gold standard for Star wars Short stories I Think...
The person playing OTK did an amazing job. Such wonderful acting, I was genuinely heartbroken when he died.
Thank you! Steve Blum, a very talented, prolific voice actor brought the voice to my physical performance as O-TK.
This was one of the best fan films ever! Now I’m going to watch Return of the Jedi for that one scene!
Wonderful!!! Hits you like a ton of bricks when you realize who this character is. Well done!
Totally agree :)
Well said. So true. I loved it.
Loved the Ah-ha moment !
The short scene of him sobbing as an adult in ROTJ is not so funny anymore.
@@rainlsd figured it out about half way, for sure, but suspected it since I first saw the egg. Kind of fooled myself though. I kept thinking of The Force Unleashed and how Rancors are supposed to be native to some kind of jungle planet. I literally said "It has to be the rancor from ROTJ, but why would their be a rancor nest on Tatooine?"
BEST SW FAN FILM EVER MADE. Most authentic, original, & pro. Perfect!
loved it i thought i was watching a original star wars movie . clap clap clap . Thank you
I’ve seen them all, this is the very best SW fan film yet. So well done. Wish the other prequels had been that creative and true to the original. Nice work, put a huge smile on this old SW nerd’s face!
Spectacular fan film! Everyone did a great job on keeping the spirit of Star Wars intact! Definitely felt like I was in the SW universe with a flavor of the original trilogy! Great characters, acting costumes, locations and plot as well. 10 out of 10 for me! Hopefully you guys will put another one out in the future.
i like the idea in this one that it went into detail showing how many young people in the star wars universe built or at least owned protocol droids for companionship
Amazing! Congratulations on a truly spectacular job. I will never see Return of the Jedi the same way again.
Grande Apolo!!, llegué a este film gracias a usted

Guys, this was incredible. I've never seen anything that felt so truly like Star Wars. I can't even say how amazing this felt. As far as I'm concerned this is canon haha!
holy dathomirian rancor, boba fett!! that was fantastic.
Thanks!
Bravo!!!! The best fan made film without a jedi and lightsabers involved. Well done
I am a major consumer of STAR WARS Fan Films, this is one of the very best I have seen. So, this is the story of the Rancor Owner.. how awesome is that. Congratulations and May The Force Be With You... Always.
Joel Strieter could you please share? Which one are the others you consider good?
So awesome that you absolutely
HAD TO SPOIL IT, right?
But what for? 😒
Seriously, I was looking at the comments before watching the movie...
I won’t do that again.
It’s the first time I see a so called Star Wars fan spoiling the twist of a movie.
Well done dude,
don’t change anything 👍🏻
It really is the best I've ever seen. Where'd it come from? Why are there so few subscribers and views?
Hey....you got a rush from throwing out the spoiler, didn't you?
Sweet and touching, very cool story ! I figured he was Malakili and the "monster" was the Rancor for sure (i was hesitating with a Wampa) right after the "one year later" seeing his new garments ! And then Jabba's small barge arriving totally made me smile and got the whole thing ! :D
It's a sad state of affairs when fan films are better and feel more like Star Wars films than actual Star Wars films.
Bravo!! This was well done. Enjoyed every bit of it.
Such an amazing movie! Absolutely blown away! Star Wars the way it’s supposed to be done!
Came here to say exactly this. Perfect!
Well done. I tasted some of that old Star Wars flavor here. Big studio should take some notes...
Finally a fanfilm that isn't just people hitting each other with lightsabers for 15 minutes.
Darth maul cough
Hahaha true...I didn't have to fast forward this one.
And the dialogue wasn’t cringe either.
Agreed. I chuckled when I read your post because I was sat, cynically waiting for a Sith Lord to appear behind a rock and then hear the fetishistic thrumming of a red lightsaber. This had the good vibes of a Star Wars spin-off from the eighties circa the Ewok movies era.
in a forest
Unreal. Better than any of the Disney Wars by far. Great origin for the rancor keeper
Well done!!! I’m proud of my uncle and father for this amazing film!!!
Ragae/ Aidan Glad you liked it bud! ❤️
@@ianeskander6582 should have had the rancor eat one of the guards for old times sake
A-10 Thunderbolt II Maybe in part II ha ha. Appreciate the suggestions.
No over acting, no over use of special effects, a good clean and easy to follow story line.......BRILLIANT! Its getting harder and harder to find good fan films. You have nailed it. A very genuine well done!!!!!!!!!!

he's from the planet Corellia and the Rancor is from the planet Dathomir. but other than that, was very well made, and and good back story
Fans like you keep star wars alive!!!
Looks great, captures the grubbiness of Tattoine, love the fainting gamorrean when he sees the rancor. Marvellous indeed.

Extremely well done! You all certainly captured that good ol' Star Wars feel, and the effects were very well done. The droid was spot on. Thank you for this!
Without question the best fan film for Star Wars I've ever seen. Incredible cinematography , props and story.
Seriously dude? Smh...
Agreed, definitely a top shelf fan 🎥
Very beautiful.
For the love of God look up the Last padawan , I think... there's a cool obi wan one too. And Shards of the Past is excellent too.
if its the best, search a tad more bucketheads, last padawan, about a dozen more i have saved. This is well put together and well worth a watch
this is the BEST star wars fan movie ever !!! I love it !!
The usage of practice effects and sets was amazing, you can tell how much work was put into this. And the cinematography is amazing.
WOW! This is amazing. The Vader fan film has realy raised the bar for a galaxy of other fan films just as good as this. I hope Disney is taking note.

Noooo to see how a well crafted starwars story can be done with respect and a love for the source material.

Excellent job. Wow. I have no idea what the actual budget was but the production value on this story, film, vfx, etc was amazing. So good. Thanks for your time and efforts on this one. As far as I'm concerned, it's cannon. :) Congrats!
We essentially didn't have a budget. besides some hard costs for build the set. otherwise lots of dedicated individuals donating lots of time!
@@NickMahar You were the D.P. I have to give you major props. I'm very into cinematography myself, and this was was just epic. I want to see the world move back into this classical style of cinematography. Storytelling is so much more effective when the camera isn't shaking around like someone having a spaz attack was operating it, and shooting into the lights for an abundance of lens flares. Thank you! Good work my friend.
Pantheragem thank you so much!
*Beautiful story of Malakili and Pateesa!* 👏
More believable than the sequel trilogy
So authentic
Amazing cinematography WOW
Actual aliens and good environments done with practical effects and REAL locations(I hate marvel movies because too much CGI)
I LOVE RANCORS
The storytelling is right on beat with star wars (something about the sequel trilogy always felt folly, even after seeing the force awakens for the first time when I was only 15)
Holy shit that ending mind blown just awesome
The Droid (O-TK) and the Droid voice actor were superb. In such a short time they were successful in making the viewer form a real connection to the Droid. Outstanding. Make-up was great too and the location.
Great film!!! This film will forever change the way I see Return of the Jedi.
I come back and watch this every so often just because it’s truly inspiring. The amount of love put into this is truly something special. I look up to everyone who had a part in putting this together.
The puppets would make George Lucas proud!
I mean George was no fan of them, and would cgi the hell out of em if he could.
But they do make me happy.
Maybe, I mean the guy did switch to CGI immediately. Jim Henson and Frank Oz, on the other hand....

Wonderful little backstory of the Rancor Keeper, Malakili and the Rancor. The droid was good too. Very impressive project.
This was probably the best Star Wars fan film I've seen. And as a filmmaker myself, i was extremely impressed with the production quality, special effects and authentic feel to Star Wars. And the nerd in me is going nuts realizing at the end that it was Malakili the Rancor Master. Awesome job!
Goosebumps! I felt more for these characters in 15 mins than I did in either of the Disney trilogy films to thus far. This was truly incredibly and masterfully done. I would love to see what you could do with a Disney scale budget.
Yep. I want O-TK resurrected asap! He's too good for this short amount of screentime.
I agree. The infernal mouse has no business messing this franchise up. Regardless of all their dollars.
such a different approach towards a Star Wars fan film and its the best by far! Amazing job. Little sirs acting is outstanding!
Outstanding craftsmanship and choices all around. Gotta love having access to those locations! Gorgeous and beautifully shot.
This is a film I will revisit again and again with my kids. THANK YOU!
Much better than The Last Jedi. Awesome work!!
James Haack 🤫
All fan films that i've seen are much better than the last jedi...indeed, anything is better than that shit!
Someone's being overzealous.
Out of all the fan made star wars movies, that I've seen, on youtube this is by far the best, #1. Most Excellent!!! It was in the star wars universe, yet not trying to be star wars, it self. This had me so compelled & focused on the story, plot & characters, not having a clue to that this would, fit into Return of the Jedi. WOW!!! Hats off to the cast and crew, that's how you display great story telling. I like to think, this mini-movie was a deleted, flash back scene, in ROJ, of the man reminiscing on how, him & Rancor the monster, began, a friendship, after him seeing the monster get killed, by Luke. Keep up the awesome, work, guys.😀 and may the force be with you!!!
A wonderful job that filled in the backstory of Jabba's rancor and its caretaker. I was impressed.
That was GREAT! Well done, Always give extra credit when a film provides a fun twist/surprise. Thumbs up if others Agree!
This felt like it was so true to the Star Wars spirit. The music was good. The creatures were amazing. The actors were pretty good. Definitely adding to my favorite fan films list. And I love how you gave a meaningful backstory to a character that was only in Return of the Jedi for a matter of seconds.

Wow. What a wonderful idea to show how important the fan films are.
I watched this I know 25 times! I love it. It has Star Wars “mojo” and it’s got solid bones in the makeup of the story! Very very well done and Bravo to the cast and crew
