That's bravery right there to film an entire fight scene while your arm is in a cast, i heard in an interview JW gave that a few weeks prior to the shooting scene of the gas station that Arnold Stang fell on the edge of the swimming pool and sustained the broken arm, JW was hesitant to throw the tires at him and Kaplan due to Stang's broken arm and small stature but Arnold gave it all and that's dedication right there. Never let anything stand in your way, Moe Howard was the same in Pardon My Scotch where he broke 3 ribs after falling off the table that was sawed in half by Curly and getting up and slapping both of them in the face, you wouldn't even know that he was injured in that scene and that they didn't use a stunt double for that scene or the one where Curly is pushed down an elevator shaft in Three Dumb Clucks where he plays himself and his father getting married to Daisy. Acting is a fun job but it's a dangerous life threatening job that can break bones and teeths
The final gas station collapse did not go as planned. When Jonathan Winters backed the truck into the water tower, it actually fell too soon, before the truck actually hit it. To fix this problem, the engineers who were in charge of special effects split-screened the small building and slowed down the side of the water tower so that it would coincide with the hit.
This small set was constructed on the side of Highway 74 in Palm Desert California. The Opening scene of the film was also shot on the section of 74 that descends from the Santa Rosa mountains that flank the canyon in which they were filming. The rounded dome-like mountaintop in the background of the scene where the building completely collapses, is called Eisenhower Mountain. I've hiked it many times.
Yes mostly the entire set was rigged and timed to fall apart to make injuries less painful the actors had stunt doubles and the walls were made of paper or breakaway materials
Such a weak and poorly built architectural structure. The Big Bad Wolf could easily blow it down, just like the first 2 houses in the story of The 3 Little Pigs!
Lenny Pike "Now listen guys, you're gettin' out of line. I'm not kiddin' I've had all I can take". Ray "Irwin, we're gonna have ta KILL him!" Irwin nods head.
One of the great slapstick scenes of all time.
One of the funniest, if not the funniest movies ever made.
One of the true classic funny scenes in Hollywood history...RIP all 3
This scene is hilarious. Jonathan Winters had great comedic timing
Sense that Marvin Kaplan and Arnold Stang previously worked together on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon,"Top Cat".
SO TRUE MY FRIEND.I LOVE WATCHING TOP CAT.
I think this scene and scenes like it have to be a blast for the actors. It's just a great scene from a great movie.
Best comedy movie of All Time
Arnold Stang, Marvin Kaplan and the wonderful Johnny Winters... Does it get any better than this
this is one of the funniest scenes ever filmed. total destruction is off the table
ARNOLD STANG THE VOICE OF TOP CAT AND MARVIN KAPLAN THE VOICE OF CHOO CHOO.
Arnold Stang also voiced some characters from Courage the Cowardly Dog.
@@matthewbuckley7757 exactly Arnold did some voices on courage at the same time TopCat was on Cartoon Network
I love Top Cat, and Choo Choo 💛💖
This movie deserves so much more popularity.
If that’s the way you want it, that’s the way your gonna get it. “Hell breaks loose.” 🤣🤣
Such a fantastic movie and scene! This movie came out 20 some years before I was born but it’s still one of my favorites!
BTW Arnold Stang did this whole scene with a broken arm

Arnold Stang was a true professional He had a really funny voice
It looks like Arnold, right hand was broken He can see him kind of not moving it as much as the other hand.
Now you've done it! You made him angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry.
He's THE INCREDIBLE WINTERS!!
If you close your eyes, you can hear Jonathan Winters beating up Top Cat and Choo Choo

I actually think it would have been funnier if they just left it as it was to add to the chaos and nonsensical nature of the movie lol
If you look to the right of the tower, you’ll see the frame freeze. Notice how the dust stops.
Ironically, from all that, he REALLY tore the place apart. Lol 😆

Choo-choo and TopCat
3:00 What I told my roommate when the taxman arrived
I love how the exact same scream is used at 1:16, 2:20, 3:36, and 3:39.
That’s the way you want it? That’s the way you’re gonna get it!!
Hilariously, thank you! Filled with great lines 😂
best line of the clip "writing parking tickets, I suppose"
Pure comedic gold
This summer, Johnathan Winters _is_ the Incredible Hulk
I imagine all three actors and the stuntmen were just having a great time doing this scene.
One of the funniest scenes ever.
I'm with Ray and Irwin on this one!
Especially, when Ray and Irwin find out the cops were watching the whole thing and didn't lift a finger to help.
The cops were supposed to be following and observing, but not interfering.
It’s Top Cat, and Choo Choo 🥰
That was hilarious. Never seen a balsa wood gas station before.
That has to be the most poorly constructed service station ever 😆
This looks like the unedited version of this because the parts with the cops were not in the movie.
That gas station must have been made out of the flimsiest materials
Yes mostly the entire set was rigged and timed to fall apart to make injuries less painful the actors had stunt doubles and the walls were made of paper or breakaway materials
That little dude is Pretzie from Hercules in New York
Damn, how Vash the Stampede of him
Arnold Stang definitely feel safer in the recording booth
2:34 - that hurt!
T.C. AND CHOOCH
Top Cat is one of my favorite cartoons
RIP Jonathan Winters
I think this is from an extended version of the film
JONATHAN WINTERS SMASH!!!!!
Where's Officer Dibble when you need him ?
The inspiration for Jason Voorhees. 😅
Arnold Stang, Winters, but who is the other actor? Marvin Kaplan he lived until 2016
Ray was the photographer in Dennis The Menace!
And the voice of TopCat
Arnold Stang was his name
He just like me fr fr
Henry Danger's Captain Man Vs Teen Titans Go's version of Cyborg and Beast Boy. What will be the outcome?
As Ralph Kramden would say... a regular riot
Such a weak and poorly built architectural structure. The Big Bad Wolf could easily blow it down, just like the first 2 houses in the story of The 3 Little Pigs!
That had to hurt 2:33
Wait a minute. Why is Trump v. Clinton/Mook 11/08/2,016 being replayed here?
Lenny Pike
"Now listen guys, you're gettin' out of line. I'm not kiddin' I've had all I can take".
Ray
"Irwin, we're gonna have ta KILL him!"
Irwin
nods head.
This movie is rated G, but because of this scene, I think it should be rated PG. This scene is pretty violent.
I keep hearing great things about tis movie but this scene makes me not want to watch it. Seems too fake.
Was a farce about the extremely extremely extremely extremely-low quality standards in much of the United States at the time.
Not for over-sensitive millenial snowflakes
