    It is great that you went to all of this trouble to make this video. I had the same problem and learned that all I had to do with put my mouth over the end of the small tubing and blow hard. That was enough pressure to unclog the washer pump suction. Thanks!

      Yes, I did exactly that with my Hyundai i30. When I blew I could see bubbles coming up in the tank, and hey presto the washers worked perfectly afterwards.

    My 2015 Ford Escape suffers from clogged washer pump syndrome. I will try this. I hear the pump working but no fluid. This happened to me already and my mechanic told me the pump was clogged and he cleaned it without disassembling the whole vehicle (he just did not tell me how he did it). Thank you for taking the time to show your process. Genius. Money saver.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH! - the washers on my 2018 polo only done 14,000 miles) stopped working. Initially very little fluid coming out and then nothing. I dreaded the thought of having to get access to the water pump (not a simple task), but after seeing your advice here, I gave that a go first. I disconnect the pipe from one of the front washers. (attached underneath the bonnet), I used a foot pump. (pumped by hand) to blow air through the nozzle and then into the pipe (to force the fluid backwards towards the pump. (try different attachments too the pump to get a good fit so that it is blown in at a good pressure). Re-connected the pipe to nozzle and tried the washer. The REAR washer was now working, but nothing from the front. So, I then did the same thing on the other front washer (nozzle and pipe). Tried washer again and ALL now working fine. An easy fix indeed! I will make a point of doing this at the start of each winter season, as a precaution. No other website I looked at suggested your method. Thanks again, you have been a great help.

    I used this pump to replace the pump on a Ecell 3100 PSI pump. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxEU8wdEWW31diRsOawsCNfWEho39M27qd The model # is PWZ0163100.02 for those looking for a matching pump. It went on very easily - 10 minutes at most. Feels like a lot more power than the original but that's to be expected. Can't tell a difference when cleaning with the wand or floor sprayer. Would recommend as it was cheaper than most I found. The maintenance free aspect is definitely a plus too. Have used it through about 6 tanks of gas and have zero issues so far.

    This video is genius! I used this idea to unclog sprayer on my Elantra 2008. instead of water I used compressor and used air pressure.I disconnected the sprayer tube and connected to compressor, set the pressure to 5 PSI and run it for 30 seconds. I just had to clean only one of the sprayers and both of them are working now, i guess they are both connected by one long tube to reservoir. It cost me less than $2 and less than 10 minutes. I watched numerous videos on this subject and most of them talk about messy mechanical work and all nonsense. This video is a winner

      It is so great that you took the idea and improved it. I don't have an air compressor, but your system is even a better idea than using a water pressure, it is less messy, in my testing of my water hose system, the connections got loose and I took a bath, thanks you for your improvements.

    Thank you very much sir, I used a few things to imitate what you did on my UK Vectra C.
    Before going and buying a new pump.
    It released an almighty big black jelly lump and spat it out the top of my washer bottle.
    Now washer jets work much much stronger than they ever have.
    Big stress having the windows smear up while driving with the children in the car.
    Good job and I really do appreciate you, this video will get a thumbs up from me.

    After 2 days of searching online for a curiously unmarked fuse I finally figured out my washer pump is known to get clogged with deteriorating filter sponge at about the 4 year mark, which is exactly where I am. OMG it worked!!!! Thank u so much for posting this video, you made me save a lot of money! 😍 For my Hyundai Sonata I used a 3/8 hose, a 3/8 to 1/4 reducing splicer, and I fiddled with different hose adapters. I found that if the water pressure is not too strong, the clamps were not necessary. I bought everything at Lowes for less than $20. Brilliant technique. Thanks!

Top tip based on my experience for anyone wanting to use the same method, close the lid on the fluid bottle for a few seconds and it builds up pressure!

    I followed your instructions, but I made some changes. Purchased 3/8 hose 10 feet, 1/4 splicer, adapter for the garden hose and 3 clamps. I ran the water until it was clear and all the algae was out of the reservoir. I put everything back and it worked just fine. Thank you for the tip. The dealer wanted 2 hours of labor plus parts. What if your reservoir is already full? Wouldn't that push out what is already in there? Mine was working fine until I filled it back up and now it won't shoot the fluid out

    • @mgoldfarb999
      @mgoldfarb999  2 года назад

      Yes, it would push out the windshield washer fluid all over the asphalt. Yes, my system for cleaning the pump motor is messy. But, the small particles of trash that unfortunately collect in a windshield washer reservoir sometimes settle on the intake screen of the pump. That is why it does not draw fluid. So pushing water backwards from the tube that would normally send fluid to the windshield, and flooding back toward the pump really only disturbs the screen intake of the pump. My solution is not the best, but it is economical and fun, it you don't mind getting splashed. The best way is costly, time consuming, and may cause you to buy a new pump and reservoir.

      I did my Hyundai i30 by siphoning all the fluid out of the reservoir. It had lots of stuff in it that had grown in the fluid. You need a long flexible pipe, even a length of garden hose will do, but clear plastic pipe about 10mm diameter and flexible is the best. Put the pipe in a bucket to fill it with water, put your thumbs over the ends, put one end in a bucket and the other in the reservoir. It takes care to get the pipe in without losing the water. You could also just suck the fluid out by mouth until you have the pipe full, but you have to be careful not to swallow any of the fluid.

    • @mgoldfarb999
      @mgoldfarb999  2 года назад

      Yes, unfortunately this only blows the clogged items on the filter with the backflushing effect. Sorry, the only thing permanent costs replacement of the pump motor and screen, but $$$. If you don't mind too much getting wet, just backflush with the water until the reservoir overflows. Then maybe the junk surrounding the filter will flow out with the water. Try it again, put your bathing suit on and have fun.
