My wife of 34 years and I watched this amazing video from her Long Term Care bed, due to FTD/Alzheimers and she asked: "are we going to die" and I answered "yes we are someday, but not today"... (I silently cried in my car) and drove home to our dog. XOXO Thank you Ms. Natalie!

You are so iconic. I've been an avid fan since 10000 Maniacs. Your Tiger Lilly and Ophelia albums got me through rough times. Your voice is like an old friend, never to be forgotten. Your music surrounds me, melodic like a soft cardigan sweater. Your words are like the memories and wisdom of elders calling attention to the past and how it impacts the present and future. Beautiful, just simply beautiful.

First there was the song, so hauntingly beautiful. Now it has been brought to life with this short film documenting a generation who fought so hard for a better world. I pray that in leaving this behind, Natalie might inspire the younger generation to continue the hard work of fighting those who would send us back into the dark ages. We need hope and hard work. Thank you for this art, Natalie. 💕

Just realised that one of the finest ever singer-songwriters celebrated her 60th birthday yesterday. I have been listeming to Natalie Merchant since first hearing 'Trouble Me' on late night radio, back in 1989.
So pleased that she is still writing new material, touring and sounding great. After waiting more than 5 years since her last UK tour, it is now just over 2 weeks until the long drive down from Yorkshire to Bath to see her play live once again.

_top-notch tribute_ to _'Miss Tilly'_ 'n' lionhearted-women of a bygone era, _like Joan Didion_ - pure retro gold! bit of 60's vibes, bit of Zep, a straight-up reminisce of Vietnam war protests 'n' women fightin' for change. Tilly's now this stellar _'lotus flower',_ tellin' us to just _'crack on without us'._ 🪷

_...as Kerouac on the Road, howling with Ginsberg's verse, Tilly sails life's river, bearing Woolf's Lighthouse, on Siddhartha's eternal course..._
Tilly’s reflection _“Bringing It All Back Home”_ calls,
As Kerouac's _'On The Road'_ whispers caught in beats.
      Didion’s gaze, Rilke’s verse in memory’s seats,
Siddhartha’s lotus blooms, symbol of strength repletes.
_“Go forth, free spirit,”_ a white-light salutes,
In sweet surrender to ‘forever’, _resilience_ takes roots.
_“Through the rain, you remain, our Tilly”_ - a tale of longing, on our hearts it’s wrote, _as life always denotes._

Peace, love, rock and roll; all of it came from these women, all of it became me, all of it taken into the end of my working days, matured, standing, hardcore. Thanks, Miss Natalie, for remembering them all.

Don't know if you read comments Natalie, but I just wanted to say Thank You. You have taken me so many places for so long and it's just because you have always been such a beautiful and kind woman of extraordinary talent.

Whew…. I barely made it through without tears, then, the dedication at the end got me! 🙏 To the great Joan Didion 😢✨🥰.So beautiful.
Your music has always lived on a higher frequency to me. I receive your music/your art on a heart level. A “Thank you” feels a bit inadequate … but thank you. Your work means so much to me!

And so it is! That is your prayer to the Universe! 🙏 If you are speaking specifically of women, I couldn't disagree with you more but then again, I don't base my sense of self on my vagina...🤷‍♀️
